00:00 - Intro
01:00 - Your basic but, dare I say, essential-to-know-how-to-paint: garden leaf.
02:20 - Silver Dollar Eucalyptus, yes please.
04:54 - Oh! Don’t miss this tip!
05:22 - Little cutie baby leaves.
07:06 - Two layer leaf, we’ve only just begun…
07:50 - You can do this, the rose leaf.
09:14 - Long, folded tulip leaf twisting in the wind.
10:09 - Rosemary thyme! (Wait, which is it?!)
11:24 - Do you enjoy it or taste soap? Comment below. It’s cilantro.
12:05 - You might be saying… But…
13:32 - You love it, you need it: the peony leaf.
14:30 - SO MANY ask about this problem! Watch this.
15:04 - Because we all need a longer, jagged burnt reddish kind of leaf…
17:01 - Let’s regroup here for simple, basic leaf principles.
17:42 - Details on the layered leaf.
18:30 - And some details on the peony leaves.
What was your favorite leaf? Which was the most challenging? Do you like cilantro or taste soap?! Let me know in the comments! Don't miss Complete Beginner's Guide to Watercolor FLOWERS: ruclips.net/video/xIQUd-d6wuM/видео.html
I liked that autumnal leaf with the serrated edges 🍁 🍂 it’s something I’ve never tried before
I’d definitely gotten stuck on green leaves
Favourite 🍃 leaf 🍂? That’s a trick question: all of them, of course! 😍The most challenging for me were the 2nd and the last one. I’ll re-watch and practice more. Thank you 🙏
haven't yet tasted cilantro..will get back to you
You are an excellent teacher. Thx for sharing!
I would like more peony & rose leaf practice! Picked up some great tips on this one. Thank you Jenna!
🍃 “Leaves are like little music notes 🎶 floating around the flowers “
💐 what a lovely poetic thing to say
That was a little poetic, wasn’t it? 😂
Of all the great artist- teachers on RUclips- I REALLY appreciate your methods- such as explaining how you hold the brush & how to move the maneuver it and paint. Fantastic!
Wow that’s so sweet of you to say! Thank you! I’m very happy to hear my instructions are helpful. ❤️❤️
I love the way you teach. Your slow demonstrations are the way to go. I see lots of demos and get inpatient with how fast they go without specific explanation. Thank you for taking your time and thoroughly explaining the process.
🤗 YAY! I always default to painting leaves. Something new is always appreciated 😁
Especially now while I wait for greens outside.
Leaves are so much fun to paint! Glad you’re happy to see this one!
That tulip blowing in the wind. That’s my fave for sure!!
We miss your uploads 📖 🎥
I didn’t know you liked that one so much, John. 😉
Loved the red leaf Esp the wavy edge.
I’m so glad to find you on RUclips. Your teaching style is perfect for me. I’m 62 and have been working in accounting for 40+ years and desperately need a creative outlet. Teaching brush strokes has been a game changer for me learning watercolor. Your flower and leave ❤️tutorials are over the top! Thank you so very much! ❤️❤️❤️
You are an amazing talented artist and your teaching skills are wonderful. You’re a sweetheart! 🌺🌿❤
You are an amazing teacher!💕
Loads of fun and learning! Thank you 🎨
I love watching you paint the highly pigmented leaves, so the last one was my favorite. I can’t wait to paint along.
Oh I hope you have so much fun, Cindy! ❤️
Except one, I drew every other leaf with you. Thanks for being such a fantastic teacher.
Jenna I feel like you think of everything. I decided a couple of weeks ago to give watercolors a try - I have no artistic experience except for some drawing classes I took in college many many LOL years ago. I appreciate your style of teaching and painting. Thanks!
Thank you - so lovely - and you make it look so easy...
So lovely. The long ones flowing in the wind are my favorite. Definitely going to try this out.
Thanks Jenna, I've already started practicing. Very difficult but I won't give up. Greetings LalitaVarma ®
Very very helpful and inspiring
Thanks so much for teaching me and sharing your ideas
I love the eucalyptus! Those colors and shapes are beautiful, as well as the contrast of a light mint green color with brown.
You are by far the best teacher for watercolor painting. Thank you. All leaves are very helpful.
The cilantro blew my mind. Love painting it. Loved the results. The wavey leaf is the most challenging!
Aw thanks Crystal! The wavey leaf can cause some challenges, it’s just getting that perspective and keeping that brush nice and smooth. It’s a little dance. You’ll get it!
I just love those long flowing leaves - pressure, release, pressure. They did look like they were flowing in the wind. I had so much fun with them!! As always, you are so fun, so real and always teach me something. 😊
Aw thanks Cher! So glad you loved this. ❤️❤️
Super !! 🌺🙏
I liked the addition of jagged edges on rose leaves and also the rust tone leaves. Thank you
Just started dabbing into watercolour and this video was a bless! Thank you!! I like the way you show the entire workspace, the colours you are mixing, etc. I wish sometimes I could see better the amount of water/ink you carry on the brush and your dabbing on the tissue to dry it a bit before your first strokes. The MOST DIFFICULT for me is without doubt the tulip long twisted leaf. Can't get it right :( Thanks again and will keep with your videos for my progress!
Your the best. You take your time to show us what to do with each. I've watch so many others that just rush so fast I can't catch it. Of course I have no talent as a beginner but you make it look like maybe I can learn as an old lady wanting to enjoy art.
Great video, very helpful lesson!
Glad it was helpful!
All of my leaves looked the same. This is just what I needed. My favourite is the long grassy type. I never knew how to make that twisted look. Thank you, again, for these tutorials.
You’re so welcome, Sharon! I’m glad to hear this was helpful!
I loved the Cilantro! I struggled with big wavy leaves! Having said that I also love the fall leaves and would love more of those!
I never dreamed I could watercolor but the way you teach, explain and show exactly how to do each stroke including how to hold the brush, pressure, level of color and your description and comparisons are SO helpful that I’m actually painting with watercolor! I’m taking your guidance and have purchased the supplies you referenced and I’m practicing most days with you. I purchased your beautiful book, Everyday Watercolor which is super helpful! I love it! I’ve passed on your links to my friends so we can paint together. You are a delight! THANK YOU JENNA
You make it look so easy
I watch your channel for almost a year, and couldn't take the practice, because I was so frustrated about my strokes. Today I received set of Princeton Heritage brushes and I find it all so easy now! My Black Velvet ones are useless with florals this kind. Princeton 4050 rulez! Jenna, thank you so much for your efforts and passion you share
Your leaves sample demo is a work of art in itself..!
Love this. Can’t wait to try it.
Great video Jenna will try these out tomorrow
Have fun Carol!
I can’t wait to dig into this one! You’re awesome and I so appreciate your tutorials! Thank you Jenna!
You’re awesome! Thanks Michelle! ❤️
Thank. You. Jenna
This is the best way to unwind from work. THis si so uniquely calming but just challenging enough for me to actually practice. And as I am never able to figure out sketching I can still get a relatively pretty painting without it. It also holds a little bit of Bob Ross vibes with pretty little flowers and paint what makes you happy.
Thanks so much, Jenna. Looking forward to trying these.
Very helpful. Thank you!
Super ! Thank you for clear explanations.
Thank you I can't wait to try it
Wonderful, patient detailing. Thank you!
Thanks so much for this tutorial… love doing leaves…
A great tutoiral Thank you so much---with wonderful expanlnations
Thanks for the practice. The cilantro was fun. Like a little tree. Love the ribbon like leaves too. Helping me get outside my boring comfort zones.
❤️❤️
Thank you so much, they are all beautiful. I think the six and seven are the most difficult ones. Practice makes perfect.
Totally enjoyed this tutorial. I wanted to know how to paint different leaves, and this was very helpful!
I liked learning how to paint a rose leaf
And I love the taste of cilantro and feel badly that it tastes like soap to some people cuz it's such a nice flavor in Mexican and Thai cuisine.
Loved the leaves and trying to paint them. My favorite leaf was the rose leaf and the tulip leaf. I struggled with cilantro and the tiny leaves tree branch
I need this tutorial in my tool box! Love painting leaves, but tend to just use one or two types over and over. Thank you. Great reference page❣️
You're so welcome! ❤️
I struggle so hard with leaves. This was very helpful and beginner friendly 🌻 I realllly struggled with the autumn leave! 🍁🍂
My favorite leaf is the sage and eucalyptus! Thanks for all the videos and the fun humor.
Thank you Jenna 🤗 your tutorials are SO helpful, informative and tranquil!!! Love and light xx Terry
80K, congrats, Jenna. Great watercolor tutorials - keep ‘em coming!! Thank you 😊😊😊
Aw thanks Marian! Grateful for you to be a part of the JR YT community! ❤️
Thank you for giving me ideas on different types of leaves. I was getting sick of my same ones. I LOVE your tutorials. Thank you so much for giving such a variety of topics.
So glad you're loving my tutorials, Tammy! 💕
My favorite leaf was the garden leaf. Had a very hard time with the jagged red leaf. Had a fun time with these. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing Ella, glad to hear you painted along!
Very helpful - thanks!❤
Jenna, for the first time I was able to paint along with you during the video. I had to pause you here and there to gather things because I was painting sitting on my bead. Not everything turned out well, but that shows I need more work with those, the last time I tried anything like it I couldn't do it at all. So I am making strides. Thank you always for your constant encouragement. :)
Thanks for sharing, Peita! I’m so glad to hear you were able to paint along. I can’t wait to hear how your rose turns out. Have fun with it!!
I think I spoke waaaay to early and brashly about it being time to take on Big Pink. Yeah.. ima gonna go back to basics and rebuild my way back up and then its game on! :D
Thanks so much for the upload, I always practice artwork while watching your tutorials :)
You’re so welcome! Thanks so much for watching! ❤️
@@JennaRaineyChannel Do you have a Patreon site? I would like to support your efforts :)
Thank you so much, Jenna. The most challenging for me was the long, curvy trio. But I enjoyed each and everyone of them.
Thanks for sharing, Lia! Ya those ones take practice, need to get used to those movements. They’re fun tho!
I really liked this and appreciate this video. Wasn't sure how to get started on the leaves. Newbie at painting
I am so glad I found this channel. I have not picked up my watercolor brushes since my husband died in 2020. This makes me want to go back to painting. Thank you so much! You inspire us all!
Thank you for this amazing tutorial. Watching your several videos have boosted my confidence in watercolours and somehow your mantra of 'practice, practice' has latched on. Your methods are so simple to follow and the outcome is amazing. Can't wait to dive into another of your tutorial video.
So glad you're loving my videos!! ❤️
Thank you for doing these tutorials. I'm working hard to master these. As a beginner they are all hard. All about the practice though gotta start somewhere.
they're all beautiful! Thx very much for this tut
Thank you for your inspiring leaf video. I am a senior beginner and of all the videos out there I am enjoying you the most.
I love this Jenna. I can't wait to try them out again. I will be on a cross-country trip to my home from LA to Daytona Beach. FINALLY. It helps me to watch several times studying your hand position and water use.
Loved it- I love cilantro, would love to paint a herb bouquet ❤️
loved this!
You’re a terrific instructor, teacher and inspiration. I’m so pleased with how you’ve influenced my painting. Your demonstrations are clear, enthusiastic and attainable. Thank you for coming into my life.
Well said Bobbie. I feel the same!
I like your cilantro more than what I'm growing in my garden! Great work.
I really love this channel it makes me soo interested with watercolour
Awesome video! I'm just learning to paint and this video on leaf painting was fantastic. Thanks so much!!!!!
so nice to learn something new :) and I love the music in the background! so relaxing and helps me not being too hard to myself while exploring new territory :D thank you Jenna!!
Thanks Friend!
Thank you!
You are so great, at painting and teaching. I really like your loose style approach and peaceful videos, but also how you drop in some technique tips here and there.
Thanks for making all these videos! Subscribed.
I want to paint a whole paper full of tulip leaves, so beautiful :)
I wach this video every time I need go to basics, it is so helpful
Yea! I love your leaves.
❤️❤️
I love the cilantro leaves... a bit of a different look!
Thanks Jennifer! ❤️
the rose leaves were my favorite.... also cilantro yum
Thanks for sharing, Nicole! And I love cilantro too!
I’m working on being looser and not so tight and symmetrical . Love these.
That was really helpful.
I like every one of the them ! Thanks very much !
Glad you like them!
I loved the jagged edge leaf. I had trouble with the little cutie baby leaves. I don't think I had enough paint on my brush....couldn't get them to look like a leaf shape as in your example. Thank you for the description as you paint. So helpful. Like that I can pause to watch the stroke of the brush. :)
omgg thenks sm for this! i'm a twelve year old who recently got interested in water colour painting and your videos are always relaxing and teach me alottt..till now all ik abt watercolours is bcz of you jennaaa ilysmm!
12! You’re getting an early start, good for you!! I’m glad you enjoy my videos. Keep painting and you’ll be incredible!
@@JennaRaineyChannel yes i hope sooo and it'll be easier with your videos always there to help!
I was painting all afternoon. Your wavy, grassy leaves look the most challenging. I like cilantro as an ingredient but it is a bit soapy on its own. My windows are bursting with fresh green plants. My next painting will be the Easter items. Thanks for spending time with us today!!
Oh you get some of the soapy taste? Isn’t that weird that some people taste that and others don’t? Haha. Love the sound of your windows, btw. Happy painting, Cynthia!
@@JennaRaineyChannel it’s genetic! Another interesting genetic item is whether you can smell the weird asparagus pee odor! Ahh, asparagus would be a lovely watercolor leaf subject!! Thanks so much for these, I am new, new, new and your lessons are super useful.💗
You are an excellent teacher! Thx for sharing!
Thanks Donna! Glad you like my teaching style!
I like greens
Greens are great.
How did I wander away? I need you in my life! ❤️❤️❤️
Amazing
I am just starting to watercolor & everything looks like a first grader did it. I am just enjoying watching all aspects
As long as you’re enjoying yourself! Keep painting and you’ll keep graduating!
The twisted leaves are beautiful and just what my frogs salamanders and butterflies need to hide among - thank you
I am really enjoying your videos. I have found that they are the best so far in teaching techniques and explaining background.
Glad you like my videos! 💕
I really learned alot in here thanks:)))
Instant « thumbs up » because...well, we love your beautiful spirit, and because, once again, you’re making watercolour accessible ...and FUN 🤩 I’m getting better thanks 🙏 to you and your book!) Regards to John and your baby! Love ❤️ y’all!
Aw you’re so sweet!! That’s awesome you’re getting better, great job!!
Love your leaves! Once again difficult to choose a favorite. I haven't tried painting these yet so I don't know which one is most difficult. Cilantro: I used to hate cilantro. If a dish had a cilantro leaf in it, the whole thing was tainted. I don't know what happened, but now I love fresh cilantro! You painted a really cute bunch of cilantro! I also really love your eucalyptus leaves. Precious! Thanks, Jenna, we now have lots to keep us busy, busy, busy! 💜🙏🏻
How funny! Isn't weird how your food taste can just change like that? I love cilantro and am glad you have joined the cilantro team. 😉 Have fun painting these leaves, Colleen!
@@JennaRaineyChannel Yes, I'll have to practice painting cute cilantro like yours!
I liked added details after initial shapes dry. Couldn’t quite get the hang of the cilantro leaves, maybe another time. Practice, practice!
You can do it, Claudia! ❤️❤️
Beautiful!! It looks so easy, but it's not!!!You are really artistic!! Thanks for sharing your videos!!
