    YES! I worry about wasting the paint on my brush! You pegged me! I've been more worried about this as I have learned that my backup set of paints are really crappy. I couldn't really tell a difference at first, but now that I have more free time and I'm learning and practicing more, I can feel and see a huge difference. I've started adding a tube of a quality paint to the occasional Amazon order lately, since heaven knows those things are coming fast and furious, and that way I'm not spending a ton all at once.

    Hi! Thanks for the great video! My biggest challenge is getting the right amount of water/pigment. I think it might be because I live in a very dry climate, Las Vegas, but when I try to go back and add color to anything, say the base of flower petals, its already dry and I just get a dot. When I try to get it wetter, I get the spider web effect you mentioned in your video. Sob! I tried spraying the paper lightly and letting it mostly dry before u start painting, but that just makes fuzzy caterpillars. Also, at first I bought WN series 1 paint. It helps a little to have series 3 or 4, I think.

    • @JennaRaineyChannel
      @JennaRaineyChannel  4 года назад +1

      Hey Cathy! Ya, getting it just right can be a tricky... Beyond getting the right combination of water to pigment, supplies do play an important role, for sure -- like you mentioned, getting a higher series of paint can be helpful...

    Another excellent video Jenna :D wet on wet is one technique that I struggle a lot with specially when paper sucks up all the water even before I'm done giving the area a complete wash of water (I mostly work on A3 size paper). I like how every technique was explained. One thing I really like about the video was you explaining about the angle of brush I personally have struggled a lot with wow in the past due to holding brush at a wrong angle so that's a big plus for me. Effects created and the colors used were really good to watch. Biggest problem in wow for me is a thin border getting created which gives a patchy effect so I would definitely love to get some tips for it. All in all a great informative video. Keep up the excellent work Jenna :D

    • @JennaRaineyChannel
      @JennaRaineyChannel  4 года назад +1

      Hey Ace! It is a bit hard to know, with the difficulty that you are having, it could either be the supplies you're using or there's too much water -- so the water is pushing the pigment to the edges and creates a hard line. If you are unsure about supplies, you can compare with what supplies I use in the description of the video! I hope that helps!

      That can be a little hard to tell, but could be the supplies you're using or too much water. Check the description of this video to compare your supplies with mine, and if you feel as though you're supplies are high-ish quality, then mess with the amount of water you're using.

      Hey Pete! I am SO happy to hear that your 8 yr old daughter is getting the watercolor bug! That is awesome! As far as the paints go, technically you could go with THREE paints... If I could only use three paints, it would be opera rose, prussian. blue, and lemon yellow deep. I have a video that shows all that you can do with just three colors < ruclips.net/video/5-exPenpZdE/видео.html > that may be helpful. If you are looking to save, trying get the cotman version of winsor & newton paints. That could be a great place to start!

    Hardest part: getting that water layer exactly right so there's no pooling but enough water that the pigment blends. Practice, practice, practice.

      That definitely takes practice getting used to, Cheryl, but once you get it you've got it! Keep working on it and enjoy the process!!

    HELP! I thought that the WOW method meant you wet the paper prior to applying paint??? No?? It means that you apply water to the already wet paint??
