Ok, I'm a retired hardwood floor guy. This video is giving EXCELLENT advice, but he needs to qualify a few things. First, he's talking about no-wax floors which is about 98% of all hardwood (and prefinished and engineered) floors. Second, the Bona product is for WATER-based finishes. I may react with OIL-based finishes. Third, vinegar is an acidic, which is why you only use very little in that big bucket of water. The acid in the vinegar can dull the sheen over time. Using soap can leave a film (like on windows) but it will wipe off. The vinegar or soap should only be used occasionally. Normally (the majority of times) just use water in a spritz bottle, spritz on the floor and wipe off with the microfiber dry mop. And PLEASE, don't use any other products on your hardwood floors. Products like Murphy's cause finishes to delaminate from the wood.

I moved from a house with wood floors that we damaged terribly by using one of those floor finish refreshers (Rejuvinate) pushed on TV. It made a mess of my wood kitchen floor and we could not get it off. When I asked I was told it is almost impossible to remove without sanding. I moved and in my new house I am using only Bona floor cleaner with a terry cloth flat headed mop. It works fine and my floors have stayed as they were when we moved in. Stay with Bona or it's equivelant.

  • @meanbean98

You can use pledge product on the floor just not pledge multisuface cleaner for furniture on the floor . But you can certainly use pledge floor multisurface cleaner since it does not leave a build up like bona does . After using bona floor cleaners it does leave a buildup it has been proven in floor testing. Im.not saying bona isn't any good on floors I just wouldn't use it every time since it does leave a build up after a while. I think it's good to use the correct pledge floor cleaner for your particular floor. And switch back ans forth between the 2 or on natural wood floors using the wood soap for floor that actually clean the floor leaving almost no sent .I also think Murphys oil for floors works well too when you use the correct amount as with any product following the manufacturer guide lines makes for a good job on floors .I see this often wee the home owner thinks the more the better when it's not so... Harming the floor even more.

I've watched several videos on cleaning this type flooring. Everyone seems to have a different opinion, of what and what not to do and use. So my conclusion is don't watch these videos. Ask a flooring company in your area what to do. Especially if you had the floors installed in your home. Ask the installer. In my case I bought a home with this type flooring. So I don't know who installed them. I'm just going to ask a local flooring company what they recommend. I've had enough of the videos with tons of conflicting info .

It looks quite awful to be frank and all I want is an effective solution to keep the floor looking clean and normal. I have been looking all over the internet and many tell to clean it in different ways, some say just use a damp cloth, while others say to use vinegar and water, while others recommend mixing oil based products with water, and I just don't know what the proper solution is. No wax finishes come in satin (almost no shine), semi-gloss (somewhat shiny) and gloss (very shiny). The bona cleaner isn't really going to add a shine to your floors. However, if you want shinier floors, ask you flooring guy to go to a higher sheen (like from satin to semi-gloss) the next time you get a maintenance coat.
