    I sand floors for a living. I would never ever ever reccommend any type of wax or polish to go over and type of polyurethane. It may not stick from lack of adhesion. It Can make your finish to come out looking cloudy or look silver or even flake off. It will attract dirt over time that you will have to be sand out. Why do we never get to see what it looks like after long term use. Ever thing looks shiny when wet. Keep applying I get paid lots of money when it comes to rescueing your floors.

    So glad I found your video! I'm moving into a house with wood floors that had been hidden under carpet for 40+ years. The seal on the wood is nearly all worn away, spattered with paint and oil stains, I'm a little nervous using the Hoover on the wood since it says to only use on sealed wood. Would you recommend the screen and recoat method or the chemical abrasion method?

    I purchased a historic home (170+ years old). It was in terrible shape. The old tongue in groove wood floors I believe are poplar. Several could not be saved due to water damage but the parlor floor had been covered with the old, thick asbestos tile. The floor underneath the tile is a beautiful distressed cherry color. I want to keep the color and just polyurethane to protect, however, the painters got several patches of overspray on the floor. How do I remove the overspray without removing the wood stain and would the Minwax product work better than polyurethane? The wood is very dry. Thank u!

    Great video. I have two questions. Have you used this product on floorboards that have a lot of texture? Does it settle into the seams between boards, or into divots within boards? • @handydadtv

      No, it’s a wipe-on polyurethane. It’s a new coat of finish, not just a wax.

    This is great! Two questions.
    1. Is that a standard carpet cleaning you’re using to scrub?
    2. My floors are in nice shape, but the stain is mostly gone from lots of little kid foot traffic. Can I safely do the water scrub step on unfinished wood?
    Thanks!

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  3 года назад +1

      1. No, this scrubber is for hard floors (wood, tile, vinyl).
      2. Yes always clean before applying. Don’t saturate them wood, and let it dry thoroughly.

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  5 лет назад

      Oh I see. You meant BEFORE we applied the new finish.
      Regardless, there was a finish on the wood already. It was just scuffed and dull.
      Some water gets between the boards when you clean, but it doesn’t hurt the floor.
