Hey, thanks for the video. I'm deciding if I should get these rear speakers for the Q800T soundbar I have. Is the volume on the rear speakers the same when you use the apple 4k HDMI port, as it is on the samsung app? I saw a video that showed if you hit settings button on the soundbar controller a few times, the soundbar will show an option for REAR volume. Maybe on 5.1 the rear volume is really high (on samsung Netflix app), but on the HDMI apple 4k port it is very low? If you go on samsungs site and look up the new Q800A, it says you can connect the "SWA-9100S or SWA-9500S" which in the picture show upward firing rear speakers too! I hope that is the case and will be compatible with the Q800T and your Q70R, because I would love to take my 3.1.2 to 5.1.4. Therefore I should probably wait till they are just available and see. Also wondering, how does the rear volume work? If you increase the volume of the soundbar, does it increase the rear speakers? Knowing that there is that separate rear volume setting, it makes me believe that it DOESN'T which I think is weird. Makes me wonder if the volume of the rear speakers needs to maybe be manually tweaked for each setting (HDMI/Bluetooth/Optical) etc? Thanks for your time, all the best!
Crap - this site makes me think it won't be compatible with the Q800T... if it is correct. But samsungs site says the Q800t under see all specs "Special Features Compatible with SWA-9500S" even though those speakers are not even up for sale yet.... I checked 9500S and that seemed like Dolby Atmos is supported as they are equipped with up firing speakers. If you have budget best thing to do is buy a Q950T which comes 9.1.2 out of the box:) I dont think you can get 5.1.2 from Q800T with rear speakers, but just speculating! in relation to volume control, issue is only with Atmos content when I use that with Apple TV, even if you make rear speaker volume max that wont help, i mean good surround experience. but with same settings in 5.1 content, rear speakers are loud enough, no need to do anything else.
Hi thanks for the video, I have the Q600A 3.1.2 with Dolby Atmos and was thinking of getting the 9200s rear kit to make Atmos better even though it's already very good. So to be clear your saying the 9200s won't support Atmos but the 9500s will support Atmos ???
After googling, the 9100s and 9200s work with a Atmos Samsung soundbar but only with 5.1 audio and NOT Atmos content. The 9500s works with Atmos content as extra Atmos speakers. However the 9500s is only supported on Q700A and above. In my case the 9200s kit is a waste of cash with my Q600A because only improves 5.1 slightly. The built in 5.1 is already good and Atmos is already great on the Q600A without any other equipment. However It would of been nice to upgrade the Atmos experience further with the 9500s on my Q600A soundbar but isn't supported even though my Q600A is a Atmos soundbar and supports rear speaker kits (9100s & 9200s).
@Daniel Kiss Gremsperger its not that they are misleading people it's just very clever wording on Samsungs behalf. Bearing in mind quite a lot of content on tv is 5.1 and not atmos so having those rears will still improve the surround sound experience. I went a step further and asked a Samsung representative on Samsungs website who confirmed the 9100s and 9200s rears are not atmos speakers and only improve 5.1 content.
