I have been in a friend's paint booth and sprayed a test panel once but he wouldn't take the time to show me the mixing ratios nice friend right 🤔. Since then i bought a paint gun and pcs adapter and cups. Thanks to you now i know how to mix paint, clear and primer ratios 👏

    Say for instance I’m spray a 2k high build primer that has a 1:1 mix ratio of primer and activator. If I wanted to reduce it 5% to ease with spraying, how would I do that?

    • @J.Lulo_
      @J.Lulo_  Месяц назад

      I would just use my best judgment. Add a little bit at a time until you reach the consistency you are trying to achieve. Just don’t add too much because you don’t want to water it down too much. Remember it’s supposed to be high build primer to fill body filler properly.

    That shows me so much and much appreciated indeed im just a DIY in Sydney just doing little home jobs.At the moment just sprayed a Home Door House Door in Base coat but it got a few specs in the base coat after spraying can i use wet & dry 1200 then spray it with clear is that fine.

    • @J.Lulo_
      @J.Lulo_  4 месяца назад

      You can sand the base coat with 1200 but you need to re-coat with the base coat after you sand it because you’re not supposed to clear over sanded base coat. If you get dirt in your clear you can always sand and polish it after it’s dries.

    • @J.Lulo_
      @J.Lulo_  4 месяца назад

      No I wouldn’t put clear hardener in the base. I used to use a base coat hardener to cut parts in because they didn’t get clear coated underneath the hoods. But if you want your base coat to dry faster just use a fast drying reducer.

    • @J.Lulo_

      Make sure when using reducer that you pick the right reducer for the temperature. Slow reducer temperature 75 to 95 degrees medium 65 to 75 and fast 45 to 65.

    Hey J. Lulo, I am planning to use accelerator to speed up drying as you advised on different videos. my
    question is do I mix in primer, base coat, clear coat or both? And is there specific accelerator for specific paint, and lastly how do I mix it? Thank you. Sorry I ask alot but I want to be close to perfection as I can be I have never painted before.

    • @J.Lulo_

      You can not use accelerator in base coat. If you want the basecoat to dry fast use a fast basecoat reducer. You can use the accelerator in the primer and the clear coat. Here’s a link the the accelerator that I use. You only need a couple of drops and you’re good. 👉www.amazon.com/dp/B0038D8LKM/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_82AZQEEPB4MZEWR4JJZ1?linkCode=ml1&tag=jlulo78-20

    • @J.Lulo_
      @J.Lulo_  Год назад

      It depends on the clear coat. Every clear has the instructions on there own mix ratios. The most common mix ratios are, 4 parts clear coat 1 parts hardener or 2 parts clear coat and 1 parts hardener. Just follow the instructions on the clear coat that you are using.

    Is the Reducer another word for Thinners?

    • @J.Lulo_
      @J.Lulo_  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes. Reducer is a temperature controlled paint thinner. For example, slow reducer is for hi temperature like 80 to 90 degrees, medium is 65 to 75 degrees and fast is 40 to 60 degrees. Depending on the temperature in your area you have many to choose from.

    1:1 Epoxy adding 20% reducer is done how ?

    • @J.Lulo_
      @J.Lulo_  5 месяцев назад +1

      Epoxy is very thick. Depending on what kind of spray gun you’re using you will have to make adjustments in the formula. Think of 1:1 like half and half and just add the reducer to get the consistency that you want. If you’re using a mixing cup go to the mix ratio on the cup 1:1 and add reducer as needed.

      4 part of your main component
      Use the 1 parts mix 2 times with the second component and then the 1 part for your last component. Example
      4 parts urethane
      1 parts hardener

      1 parts hardener
