Oblivion at LOWEST SETTINGS!

- We're gonna put Oblivion's graphic settings as low as they can possibly go! I didn't use any mods during this. The did edit Oblivion's .ini file to get the final result. It turned out...... yeah.

Winson is one of my favorite NPC's because of how buggy his schedule is. He goes to the Arena and watches for a whopping 14 hours and then goes to work all through the night without eating or sleeping every single day. Then for some reason on every 30th of each month he makes a 14 hour trek to Bruma and stays for like 2 days and then walks back.
Well at least he has a job. He can be as weird as he wants as long as he contributes to Imperial society. Glory to the Emperor!
He's out there living his best life.
“Sleep is for the weak” taken to the extreme
@@---ii8hl gives a whole “fancy seeing you here” vibe
Don't judge him, he pays his taxes and works a respectable job, what he does in his spare time is his business and only his business
"Have you heard of the High Settings?"
SNORT. Go away
ooh aah EURURGH
_NoOOoO!!_
The body’s still warm, there’s a killer about...
Computer's still warm, there's a medium setting about
High settings: "The Imperial Tower is visible from any corner of the map"
Low settings: "The Imperial Tower is not visible from its base"
Low settings: "The Imperial Tower is visible from nowhere"
Very Low settings: There is an Imperial Tower?
I recommend 144p for the optimal viewing experience
I turned on 144p right before you edited the INI and I actually wanna kms now. Not even the Xbox 360 looked this hideous
low actually looks like a mobile game, or the PSP port that never got released
Jokes on you, I have to watch everything on 144p anyway because my internet is so shit!
@@Assdafflabaff I member them days
@@DesteryandScorger It's not even the speed, it's the small monthly cap.
As I remember, those low settings were added later on by patch after some people were complaining about inability to play on their elderly PC.
That explains a lot cause I remeber playing on my grandmother's PC back in the day at 8 fps and it didnt look that bad.
@@robertharris6092 You were literally playing on an elderly PC, as in a PC owned by an elderly person.

I want you to find a game from 2006 that does not look like garbage by today's standards, chances are there ain't any
@@darthmongoltheunwise8776 Metal Gear Solid 2 that released in 2001 still looks amazing. Granted, it's not an open world experience like Oblivion, but damn is it good to look at.
Gave me some flashbacks when I played back in 2008 on my grandpas pc. Underrated video bro.
Been there, done that. No idea why so many of our grandparents had computers, often with games in already installed. I can't picture my grandma playing GTA1 killing people with a machinegun.
At 8 fps. Lol
Me trying to run this game on the macbook pro I got from college via Porting Kit.
I'm too spoiled by playing the game on PC and console in the past.
Loaded it up on my Mac and at lowest settings for everything, I get around 25 frames!....well.........until a single NPC comes into view from the fuckin fog of war. Then the Mac shits itself trying to animate this guard's walk cycle and it drops to single digit frames, and begins sounding like a jet trying to take off
HAHAHAHAHA I have a similar experience...but I didn't have a graphics card. Which is why I laugh at people hating on CyberPunk 2077.
Your grandparents had computers? X-(
As a frequent Daggerfall player, the graphics still look absolutely amazing lol
Anything except Arena looks better than Daggerfall, to be fair.
@@SpaceEmperorGenos Even Daggerfall looks better than Daggerfall
Do you use daggerfall unity cus dream looks good in my opinion
There is a certain charm in a graphic like this.. idk why
Indeed. I do this sometimes.
Nostalgia
@Quinn Nguyen the better the graphica are getting the more games are looking too similar it seems.
Nostalgia for the memories of how bad graphics were when we were kids, but remembering the joy and excitement they brought us.
Indeed, my pc runs skyrim on high pretty smooth, but when it comes to oblivion, i just like low presets dor the lulz, reminds me of greater times
The low preset looks like a PS2 game, but without the distance fog.
Its almost like its made for weaker computers to run the game by decreasing the load..
WII*
PS2 games really didn't have distance fog. You're thinking PS1/N64 gen of consoles.

far out, man!
The closer you get to the white gold tower the happier it gets.
I wonder if the heads are actually just shifted down into the player models torsos? The reason I say that is because when you talk to an npc it zooms in on their face. But here it zooms in on their torso...
iirc it actually completely disables the heads because oblivion apparently renders the heads on the fly using the slider values.
I actually finished this game like this while also using a mod called "old blivion" that removed trees and rocks for fps gain. When I upgraded after years to GeForce 8800 and could play this on ultra finally I cried and couldn't believe the fotorealistic graphics I am witnessing xD
I remember having an old zombie desktop that I had saved from being tossed out that need oldblivion to run it!
YES! I had the most awful PC back then and couldn't run the game at all, so I used Oldblivion and had a blast. Whoever created that tool, thanks a lot!
didnt oldblivion even preclude the requirement for a hardware graphics accelerator? pretty sure it had an option to render in software like OG quake, and OG unreal tournament.
The computer used of the first moon landing couldn't even have run this.
I had to use oldblivion to run this on my moms laptop with the i5/integrated graphics/and like 2gb ddr2 ram lol
I got Oblivion the day it came out in 2006 and this was how I had to play it. Even on the lowest settings my PC at the time could barely handle it lol.
"How goes it?"
*_Immediately goes on a murderous rampage_*
Radiant AI is amazing thing
video: _Ok, so this is oblivion on "very high"_
RUclips: _aight, time to switch to 240p_
"By azura, by azura, by azura, it's the low settings!. I can't believe it's you popping buildings here next to me!"
I remember playing this kind of quality on my potato pc and was still blown away.
Seeing this reminds me of oldblivion - a special mod/tool to disable a lot of graphic effects, including shadows. It was... bright. Caves were... bright. It was a special experience :>
Thats how i had to play it with the pc i had lol still had fun
I used to have to play this game on low settings and I didn't realise I'd get such nostalgia from seeing the game like that again.
Same bro. Good times with my netbook
This is how I played Oblivion 15 years ago on my wal-mart pc.
The low settings actually reminded me of playing RuneScape back in the day
yeah, this has heavy RuneScape energy
I lost it at "are you afoot?"
The sad part is theres people out there who actually have to play on these settings because theyre trying to game on some laptop their parents bought them for school.
2:02 "Are ya win, son?"
I got an Xbox 360 just to play this game back then. Those were good times.
When I first got this game on my PC back in the day I remember our internet was so slow it took me like 18 hours to download the 4-ish gigabyte game. My PC was so low end that I could barely run the game on low at 480p at 25-30 fps. I remember I wanted to be a mage and I'd cast a fireball and it'd be beyond my draw distance in about 1.5 seconds and just disappear. When I finally got my first gaming rig Oblivion was one of the first games I installed so I could play it on max settings and I remember getting Fireball and going outside and just casting fireballs into the sky because now I could watch them go on forever.
That same new PC was also the one I first downloaded Skyrim on and it could barely run it. Then when I upgraded again Skyrim was the first game I tried out with maxed settings lol.
The low preset looks pretty similar to OG morrowind graphics
What morrowind would be with oblivion graphics in 2002
If Oblivion was on OG XBOX
Been watching your videos for the past few weeks and really enjoy your content. Thank you for your time that you do to make this content. Subbed
Dude! That guard is me kicking bums out of the parking lot of the shopping center I work at that is a 5 minute walk from the beach but in Oblivion. My life is complete thank you for that lovely surreal documentary.
No heads? Massive improvement for this game.
I know this feel all too well growing up, I use to run games in really tiny windowed mode to run better.
the low presets honestly make me feel weirdly nostalgic, for like, the early 2000's PC games
"Im losing my mind!"
"Mind?! Sir, youve lost your entire head!"
Man this takes me back. I never had the LOD down that low, but I remember playing the game with shaders off.
Those smash zooms to Sergio Leone full frame face closeups are awesome! :D
The lowest settings + first person pov looks like these old rpg games where you click your mouse on arrows to move around.
that pop-in is like someone's squeezing those buildings out of a tube of toothpaste
Did the guard at 4:32 just died?!
That low graph must have pushed him too far...
The way the camera clipped through their body when he's interracting, omg i can't🤣💀
Every video ive seen from this channel has started with a fight with the weather
daggerfall graphics settings
I kinda like the low setting. Thing is, Oblivion came at a weird time for video game graphics. Older games were necessarily much more abstract, and thus I think they aged better, paradoxically. You'd never mistake them for striving for realism. Around the time of Oblivion, it became more common to really try and go for fidelity, but the technology wasn't quite there, so games from that era aged particularly bad imo. The low detail and resolution here takes some of that away, makes it more abstract, and again paradoxically, kinda makes it /better/.

2:01 I thought that was Armand Christophe for a second. (I find it funny to imagine a guard following Armand as he wanders through the wilderness)
I like how on low the trees are flat sprites which rotate with you as you go around them.
I would love to see this playthrough!
imagine the lowest setting to be someones first time playing oblivion
:(
By the comments, it does seem it was indeed how they played.
Now i feel spoiled for playing it on xbox 360 first.
This is literally how I experienced oblivion for the first time in like 2007, and I still fell in love. That led to my first graphics card purchase
This is how I used to have to play on the family laptop.
I can't stay serious when playing Oblivion. However, I do have to say that the ability to go to higher terrain with no distance fog and seeing the beautiful landscape was an experience I'd never forget. I've tried to go back to this one spot next to an Aylied ruin where I can see the Imperial City every so often to see that wonderful view.
you are doing gods work man
This is actually pretty fascinating to see what get priorities in the game!
Feels almost nostalgic to watch this video as those level of graphics were pretty normal to me as a kid with older games and old computer. Some games did better and it was amazing. Really learned to appreciate a good story in a game. Good graphics are just a nice addition.
lol i really love your channel and its joyful uselessness
Fun fact on low settings invisibility doesn't work, if an enemy makes themselves invisible it just adds a blue filter to them and you can see through them slightly
The joys of having a old computer trying to do it's best with those 10 FPS on the lowest of lows, with performance mods being bit of a savior as to not make the toaster explode.
Fun fact: I actually did try to run Oblivion on an old Dell Laptop from the early 2000’s. You know, the ones that have like 1 gig of RAM
I basically played in this mode the entire time I had the game, there was also the fun side effect of a texture issue so all the grass and most of the land was purple
I had to play on lowest setting with my laptop back in 2009 I think. This is really nice to see
That "to make it run on your dell laptop from 2006" hit me has hard and accurate has a shoot from a sniper rifle.
I used to play this on my parents PC when I was a kid. I don't think it even had a graphics card. I had to play on the lowest settings, when you are in a cave or other dark area with shadows shut off all the way there is no darkness. I never needed torches or anything lol
Love how he is honest about his monitor!
Low settings look like Medal of Honor Allied Assault lmao.
It's what I'd Imagine Oblivion would look like on the DS.
THIS is how I remember Oblivion.
Literally how I played the game on my garbage home computer.
some memories unlocked from a time long gone
"That guy was just walkin!"
Immersion breaking.
Truly an epic gamer moment
4:26 Actually you can encounter the rest of her missing horses somewhere around CIty Isle's beaches (However they are named "Wild Horses" so idk. if I'm right anyway, but I'm excited cuz I just found them :)).
I remember when my dad first introduced me to Oblivion on his bad PC, he said it was at low settings and they certainly were low. But now that i watch these videos showing it’s lowest settings, christ his settings looked like a movie compared to this. I think he must’ve turned down mainly just character models and environment textures, and certain things we see off in the distance. But the resolution looked fine, view distance was turned down a little bit (i believe) but other than that it was actually every playable. Looking at these settings, you practically needed a literal potato with nothing but the operating system to run this.
This made me realize I had never seen oblivion on high settings. I think it looks really good actually
This was enjoyable
6:13 Be seeing you. Says the guard that doesn't have a head xDDDD
Lmfao, when the guard goes "nooo!" His subtitle said "me when I wake up"
Honestly, I played this back in 2007 like this, as I was maybe 13 years old, had a 3 year old pc, which had an ati radeon 9600 and an athlon 3000+ in it, which was barely enough to run the game (maybe some minor settings where minimal higher, but most likely not by much). I still loved it though.
I remember when I got this game my graphics card straight up could not play it. I ended up using some weird low setting program that literally stripped out a ton of the special effects. It literally looked like morrowind. I could play it though.
When Oblivion was released there was a mod called Oldblivion that would further reduce the graphics. I used this to play on my aunt's integrated graphics pc
You could try to do the charisma game with that.
i honestly kinda like the look of the low preset. reminds me a lot of really old phone games or DS Monster Hunter games
Reminds me of "Oldblivion," a mod specifically made to make Oblivion's graphics and the like look worse so it could run easier on older systems.
When this game was new, I had a 128mb gfx card. With 128mb shared ram, so up to 256mb. Lowest settings, is the only way I was ever able to play Oblivion.
Now I'm rockin a VR rig and could care less about that game. I'm more interested in playing the Morrowind VR mod.
This is how i used to run oblivion on my windows vista laptop when i was a teen. You better believe i had 30+ mods installed at all times boggin the frames even farther down
The faces look so much better now.
Have you heard about OldBlivion ? That was dope back in the day.
I didn't think that there would be that HUGE a difference between medium and low! Thats crazy!
I remember buying a video card specifically to run Oblivion on high, then as soon as I exited the sewer my heart sank at the pea soup distant terrain. This brought that feeling back
seeing those low settings and remembering that this used to be the standard for most people in most games helps to explain why oblivion was considered so mindblowing when it came out.
Oblivion is what I think that Hollywood immediately thinks of when they hear “video game”.
Every time you zoom in on your crosshair to accentuate your narration, I just imagine you being a crosshair just hanging out. Just thought you should know.
:D this is how I played for most of my childhood, oldblivion saved lot of us with old pc
Cool. Thanks for sharing.
When I got my first high end gaming pc in 2008 these graphics blew my mind...
Man the first beta of the psp version lookin great tbh
Back then I had a Duron 1200MHz & Geforce 3 Ti200. The cpu is lower than minimum, and my card might've been a 64MB VRAM version so half of the minimum for Oblivion. No wonder I remember this "low" experience vividly. And before I could have the low experience (someone in comments mentioned it was patched in) I think I must've desperately created a character with the game running 4fps while looking pretty good. Or maybe that was some leaked unoptimized tech demo, hard to remember. The little I struggled through with my budget gaming rig was not very impressive for someone who spent time in Morrowind reading through everything and enjoying the atmosphere. I was also very irritated about the TV screen optimized GUI. Thus I never visited Oblivion again.
Am playing this game now this was a funny video man
Now this is the Oblivion I remember.
I have to play oblivion like this
It's really fun just disabling the heads alone
