Always loved how high you could jump in oblivion one of my favorite childhood games only fully played through once but definitely had many lives in that world
The original Morrowind is still fun but I recommend you try OpenMW. It’s a total rework of Morrowind with crazy graphical, lighting and engine improvements. Everyone’s hyping on Skywind, and totally should be, but OpenMW absolutely kicks ass.
Oblivion is the first open world rpg that I played in my life and what a banger. I spent so much time playing it and despite all its weird faces and voice acting, I enjoyed every second of it. I still remember my parents asking why the characters looks so ugly and I just couldn't see them as ugly because of how much fun I was having. It was SO new to me
I liked this format, but I think if youre getting burnt out of ding the same old same old a change of pace can be good. Maybe just try a short essay or something? Or mix the two like you did here more
What blew me away back then was the fact that you can interact with all the items on shelves and tables. When I played it for the first time, I played a thief and I loved roaming through people's stuff, throwing it around in their houses and taking everything that could potentially make me money.
I'm waiting for Skyblivion (TES Renewal Project), where there will be even more game content and far superior graphics. But yeah, Oblivion and Skyrim still get a 10/10 rating from me, based on the years the games were released. The Elder Scrolls series will alwayys remain in my top 5 game franchises and game series of all-time.
I enjoyed your commentary. As was mentioned, taking a break isn’t a bad thing, if you need to recharge. Having been a musician for decades, I understand your situation.
Love your videos, I'm a 46 year old man and you're the only streamer I subscribe to! I get videogame burnout sometimes, when it's just not fun anymore. Giving it a break for a while normally brings back the fun. Could you react to music, movies or TV shows for a while? I'd watch. Take care of yourself.
I would love to see more Morrowind content. Your video of starting Morrowind was so nostalgic and watching you experience and figure out things that I figured out as a kid was very entertaining. I would love to watch you experience more of it for the first time
I'd love to see you do a full play through of something, especially something you haven't played before so we can go on that journey with you and watch your genuine response to the experience
Wow I loved this game. I was 15 or 16 when it came out and before this I played morrowwind. I’ve been an elder scrolls fan since I was just a little guy 😂
Oh, man, you touched so many points that I felt when I first played it back when it released. It was also my first BGS game and in my heart, its the most special one. It's up there in my Top 5 of all time, I was 16ish but I've always been a scaredy cat. Entering Kvatch and getting swarmed by those little fucks scared the living crap out of me. I remember taking a break from the main quest because I was scared to go in there. But I persisted and I'm glad I did. After leaving the sewers for the first time, i didnt swim to the ruins in front, I went back and entered a random area of the imperial city and let me tell you, my mind was BLOWN. I had never seen a city so "alive" in any video game. Merchants selling, npcs talking to each other, this dude giving out the newspaper... I still have that image in my head and how I felt well, I have rarely felt like that with any other game. I've been searching for a game to give me that same feeling and its been almost impossible. Oblivion was home for me for a long LONG time. I just loved going into a random direction and finding out ruins, bandits, new towns, guild quests. The music in the background with the birds and wind. Walking on a random road and turning around to see the imperial city with a sunset... it was just too damn special. I swear I could talk about this game for hours. Thank you for this video. It brought back so many wonderful memories.
Turned 29 this year, played absurd amounts of Oblivion and Fallout 3 growing up. As someone who grinded 1000s of hours of art, i feel you alot on the 18:00 mark rant, I've taken a large break in the last year from art to refill the soul meter with classic vibes and enjoying things out of my comfort zone more :D.
I would love to still see you do revisits of older games, but I would also love to see new content forms from you. I've struggled with my own mental health for some time, and sometimes I would get that feeling when I sat down at my PC like "I'm supposed to be playing games, why do I feel like doing nothing, games used to make me happy", but I think the biggest problem with that is that I was trying to force the happiness, force myself to play games I think I should like, instead of putting a game down if I didn't feel like it, taking time for other hobbies, and only gaming when I really do feel happy to play. I know these videos have their niche, but I know if you branched out to other types of videos I'd give it a watch. the most important thing is taking care of yourself. you don't have an obligation to entertain us, but I also want you to know when I didn't feel like doing anything at all your content helped me feel content for a while.
as someone who is growing up w modern games, im sort of glad i have a low end pc that allowed me to experience games like oblivion, morrowind, fallout 3 / NV, san andreas etc. If i had a high end device i feel like i wouldnt even have touched any of those games purely because i never grew up with them.
Morrowind was my 1st Bethesda game and my fav. I had Oblivion a bit blurry on my mind. Now I remember how good it was. It’s great how Bethesda builds the lore on game over the next.
I loved Oblivion, but the game I grew up with was Ultima VII back in '92. If you find yourself wanting to experience a great early open world rpg dungeon crawler, I strongly recommend diving into it.
I really enjoyed laid back vibe of stalker games. In this one I can see routine settling in, it's normal and I don't know how to fix it. That's life, baby
I too always say Oblivion holds a special place in my heart. It really has a special magical feeling to it when you play it as kid completely unfamiliar to those types of games. For some reason, the weapon models look better than in Skyrim imo. Anyways, I enjoyed the honest ending note. Never watched you before. Didn't even plan on watching the whole video but gladly did.
Love your content. Definitely a stand out creator. Do whatever you feel is best for you and I am sure they will be more than plenty of us that will watch
This was the first game I ever played that I could lose entire days to. I put well over a thousand hours into, and while it absolutely shows its age today, it's still impressive what Bethesda was able to achieve with one of the first truly great open world games of its kind.
Still enjoying the vids! I enjoy listening to you talk and have fun. Def take a step back and figure out what you want to do. Would love to see more content regardless if it's video games or show reviews or car reviews or diy house work lol. Also from your dishonoured video I watched the other day, I keep going around saying 'Windblast!'. Gives me a chuckle every time
Being the same age as you, this video really hit home. First open world RPG and this game blew me away. Plus the Shivering Isles is quite possibly the best DLC I’ve ever played
From one random person on the internet to another, definitely priotitize yourself and happiness first. When your passion becomes something you feel you "must" do rather than "want" to do, the fun and magic will made. I work full time and have a tiny channel that I maintain when I'm feeling it and try not to just force a video for the sake of it. If it takes weeks/months between videos, so be it. That being said I've really enjoyed your content, especially your Star Citizen videos. Make the videos you want to make, when you want to make them. Wishing you all the best buddy! ❤
1:57 Had I played Oblivion as a child, seeing this presumably person-sized de-re-animated corpse next to a dead rat, realizing they were almost the same size + that rat was a ROUS...well, that'd catalyze a very specific horror that'd embed in the corners of my psyche & grow into an irrational gripping phobia I'd be unable to explain.
It’s always funny to see the different problems oblivion gives people on PC sometimes it requires a masters degree in engine coding to get running for no reason
You might want to try Nehrim, it's a game made using the Oblivion Engine and all it had to offer, taken to the extreme. Its audio is in German though, so it's comparable to watching anime with English subtitles. It really is a crazy well made game, I was very impressed when I played it. Especially since I already love Oblivion, and it shows what could have been done if more creative energy had gone into Oblivion, with many things being handcrafted, unique dungeons, deeper plot and storyline etc
You can get a free horse at Weynon Priory from Prior Marobel after talking to Jaufree. You get the same horse later on but can get it early by talking up everyone.
this is crazy to watch lmao i had the exact same experience replaying the beginning of the game recently like you showed and decided to walk to kvatch as well. ran into the molag bal shrine and i don't think i ever saw that when i was a kid😂 had to drop the comment as soon as I saw you ran into the same thing and mentioned bethesda charm. what an incredible game, hopefully we'll get something good with ES6. great video, new sub :) on the note of what you said in the last bit of the video, all i can say as someone new around here, is I really liked this video. cozy and relatable
Add or subtract elements of your 'formula' , or combine, or all three. Or try the opposit. What excites you to watch? To do? Its good to evolve, to refine, and to experiment. Challenge yourself with something different. List your interests and play with how to integrate them.
i believe that i only started watching your channel in the last year or so i like your content but please for your own sake... do not burn yourself out. if you need a break take it, itll probably help. i for one will still be here :) maybe youll end up changing your format or something to change things up for yourself who knows. i wish you the best regardless.
in regards to the end of the video, i still enjoy these videos but if you want to switch it up, retrospectives and 100% completion videos are entertaining and seem to perform well.
I think it'd take a nuclear winter to stop me watching JV vids, i rememeber watching yeeeears ago and im loving your content still now, be as creative as you can and want to be, and look after yourself too.
Many consider Oblivion a joke, with the goofy npc faces and the like 6 voice actors, but for me it's a fantastic fantasy rpg that really sells this pseudo-medieval world. Also has some of the best side quests in the series, especially for the guilds.
Please read this: you would absolutely kill with a fevvy type video. i only just found your videos like 2 weeks ago and i didn't really like the format of them because it always felt like the story was unfinished since finding your channel though ive gone back and watched a ton of your videos because i love that you seem to be genuinely enjoying the game, almost as if recording it is secondary. if you took something like your new vegas video and turned it into a full story with a start and a finish over a long period i feel like it might help you enjoy it more depending on how you enjoy playing i ofcourse have no idea but maybe switching from game to game to game is making it difficult to stay connected maybe instead of 5 videos per month with 5 different games you could do 2 or 3 in depth fevvy type videos with 2 or 3 different games i'll keep watching regardless but think it could be cool
Oblivion felt like real life back in the day. Stepping out into the world for the first time, ran off and ended up in Leyawiin, the way the biome changed from this open area to this darker foresty area… the stupid character conversations felt like actual people… man… I don’t think many games have come close to the feeling I had when I played Oblivion for the first time (and all that at a cinematic ~20 fps because the family pc was trash)
I remember I played about 100 hours of this back when and got to the part where the Mage School person sent me to find some book (main plot mission) and I was immediately killed. At that point I kind of stopped playing. :-(
you play something that i used to play, your commentary is light and i like it, although im not playing older games like this or maybe much older than i am, i still enjoy your video. I think you need to take a break for a while

Happiness is fleeting and momentary. Finding joy is the goal. And if you can do what you love and call it work you are blessed.
Thank you man :) I think finding what feels genuine is hard for me. I've been doing this for so long and my RUclips brain tells me to look for the views first.
But what you said about Ground Hogs Day is real. I feel that deep in my bones... I can say for certain that I am doing what I love. And I am absolutely blessed and sometimes I forget to be grateful. But I also think I've turned what I love into something that is soul-sucking and draining. I still love this, I know I do, I just need to take more chances like you said and try something new.
Thanks again for this lovely comment, I really appreciate you taking the time
@@jayveeeee My pleasure friend. If my words, or insight, helped you in any way then I am very happy for you and this interaction.
This comment I made goes double for both of us. I should take my own advice! Haha
I'm in a career change in my life as well..Good luck to the both of us brother! I do not know you, but I can feel your intentions are very genuine.
God bless my guy, and best wishes! I believe in you
Hey man sorry for the late reply... Wishing you all the best in your career change too! Good luck man :)
The last section on you talking about your experience and burnout made me subscribe, this is the only video I've seen of yours, but I really like finding RUclipsrs that are more personal like that.
I hope things get better
I'm glad that connected with you dude :) Still going through it but hoping things get better soon
Or mix the two like you did here more
I played all three. Started with morrowind when it came out and i was 12 years old, but Oblivion left the biggest mark on me.
It breaks my heart to hear you're in a creative slump, buddy. I still love your uploads. I love the format, delivery, perspective, etc.
Morrowind and Gothic was my childhood, oblivion was our adolescenthoood 😂❤
I'm just one guy but I love your content.
wow that's amazing i am also one guy
Oblivion and Fallout 3 are peak Bethesda. Nothing will ever be the same again.
i much prefer this style of videos. i dont like lets play type live commentary but more like analysis, essay type commentary
It's up there in my Top 5 of all time,
I was 16ish but I've always been a scaredy cat.
Oblivion is my favorite Elder Scrolls game but man the leveling system is scuffed
What are the chances I started playing Oblivion 2 days ago and you come out with a video! Awesomeness.
Morrowind was my 1st Bethesda game and my fav. I had Oblivion a bit blurry on my mind. Now I remember how good it was. It’s great how Bethesda builds the lore on game over the next.
This game was if yakooza did a medevil game some people make fun of me 4 stil playin oblivion but never gona giv u up never gona let u down
I loved Oblivion, but the game I grew up with was Ultima VII back in '92.
Dude whenever you put up a video I feel you are genuinely having fun playing whatever game you are playing
This was the first game I ever played that I could lose entire days to. I put well over a thousand hours into, and while it absolutely shows its age today, it's still impressive what Bethesda was able to achieve with one of the first truly great open world games of its kind.
Probably my favorite Elder Scrolls. I wish I had more time to dive into these worlds again
Gives me a chuckle every time
Ive been actually playing elder scrolls (except skyrim) again and i realised how much of an amazing series it is
Nothing like this kinda vid to make you feel old. Thank jayvee
Just want to say that your legendary hero, destined to save the world from a giant hell monster, looks like a potato farmer 😂
Same. It was my very first elder scrolls game and the first game I actually invested in. I was 10 years old.
We want to see you play games in more than one video. Especially games that you really enjoy playing. The enjoyment you get rubs off to your audience.
Oblivion was my first major RPG and first Bethesda game too. Played ten hours straight that first night
You get the same horse later on but can get it early by talking up everyone.
this is crazy to watch lmao i had the exact same experience replaying the beginning of the game recently like you showed and decided to walk to kvatch as well. ran into the molag bal shrine and i don't think i ever saw that when i was a kid😂 had to drop the comment as soon as I saw you ran into the same thing and mentioned bethesda charm.
what an incredible game, hopefully we'll get something good with ES6. great video, new sub :)
on the note of what you said in the last bit of the video, all i can say as someone new around here, is I really liked this video. cozy and relatable
Add or subtract elements of your 'formula' , or combine, or all three. Or try the opposit. What excites you to watch? To do? Its good to evolve, to refine, and to experiment. Challenge yourself with something different. List your interests and play with how to integrate them.
Hey man, this was a great video! I really dug the vibe, hope you do another one.
i believe that i only started watching your channel in the last year or so i like your content but please for your own sake... do not burn yourself out. if you need a break take it, itll probably help. i for one will still be here :) maybe youll end up changing your format or something to change things up for yourself who knows. i wish you the best regardless.
First time watching your channel. It wasn't for nothing. I had fun watching your video. Keep going and keep having fun with it.
Still say “Stop right there criminal scum” and “Thank you kind sir”. Goated game
I hope Skyblivion can bring back some features that Oblivion had (Like Spell crafting)
in regards to the end of the video, i still enjoy these videos but if you want to switch it up, retrospectives and 100% completion videos are entertaining and seem to perform well.
Take a break, don't be afraid to experiment. We're here for you. 🙌
Please read this:
you would absolutely kill with a fevvy type video.
i only just found your videos like 2 weeks ago and i didn't really like the format of them because it always felt like the story was unfinished
since finding your channel though ive gone back and watched a ton of your videos because i love that you seem to be genuinely enjoying the game, almost as if recording it is secondary.
if you took something like your new vegas video and turned it into a full story with a start and a finish over a long period i feel like it might help you enjoy it more depending on how you enjoy playing
i ofcourse have no idea but maybe switching from game to game to game is making it difficult to stay connected
maybe instead of 5 videos per month with 5 different games you could do 2 or 3 in depth fevvy type videos with 2 or 3 different games
i'll keep watching regardless but think it could be cool
Mine too. Takes me back every time I play
A lot of it is nostalgia though. Oblivion isn’t nearly as good as I remember it being, but it was amazing for the time…
DUDE! Oblivion vides never get old, we still enjoy the living shit out ot them😎
I stumbled across Oblivion in a used video game store in 2009, having no idea what it was. I then skipped the next half year of college to play it.
I think you need to take a break for a while
To be honest, I prefer this more relaxed style of commentary. Great video. And thank you for being so honest.
That thumbnail! 😂 that was my clueless face when i first started this game. Lol
like your "esseys" very much, please more of those!
I don't think I watched your videos prior to this one, but this Oblivion video is good.
Jay do what you want. We will watch anything you put out. It's all entertaining
I really enjoy your videos. I really hope you can find the passion to keep going. You will be missed.
