My daughter learned to drive in Los Angeles a few years ago and used a bright yellow "Student Driver" magnet sticker in the rear untilshe was comfortable. Other drivers are more forgiving and patient when they know someone is learning to drive. As for car, the standard range Model 3, like your loaner, would be a perfect first car and qualifies for the full $7500 federal rebate this year.

If Claire doesn't have much experience driving, I wonder if she will develop any different tendencies than other drivers who first learned in gasoline or diesel powered ICE vehicles? I'm very curious to learn how the prevalence of electric vehicles will affect new, younger drivers, if at all moving into the future.

My former driving instructor recently got a Nissan Leaf for her students. EVs are not all that different from combustion vehicles. I guess with the one exception of one pedal driving, but that’s pretty easy to get used to. As we electrify the passenger sector, it will be important to educate younger people on them. I would say by 2040-2050, most of the younger generation will be driving EVs

When I did my 1st time in driving that I was 16 years old for Driver’s Ed in high school back in 1986. I even had a friend of mine in the car and the teacher. I was so nervous at 1st. I did pretty good job. There was cars when I first drive a car. It was a 1985 or 1986 Ford Tempo. It was easy for me since my mother had a 1985 Ford Tempo. That did helped me to get used to the car a little bit. Even my father took me out driving around a parking lot of this junior college near us. I did pretty good in parking. I did sucked in the class and driving. I waited for almost 13 years for my license. My 1st car was a 1998 Ford Contour that I gotten in mid October 1999. I gotten my license in mid December 1999. I was 29 years old. I had different vehicles over the years. My current vehicle is a 2020 Ford Escape.

I drive for a living in Metro Atlanta and have some advice for her. As someone with around a million miles of driving experience, I still make people mad daily by simply driving with a little sense. I often drive 10% over the limit and still make people angry wanting to run 85 in a 55. You do YOU. That impatient jerk behind you will get over it, I promise. YOU are the captain of your ship, and YOU are solely responsible for its safe operation. I promise that the extra thirty seconds you cost them getting to their destination will not change the course of your day, but your rushing might negatively change the course of yours.

In Singapore, when holding a provisional driving licence to learn to drive, one is limited to a max speed of 50kmh regardless of the road speed limit. And you’re not allowed to drive on the highway/freeway/expressway. After getting your drivers licence here, there’s a one year probation period.

  • @BrianJoslyn
    @BrianJoslyn Год назад

So much has changed with learning to drive in the past 'few' (or so) years. When I was 'of age' to drive you had to be 16. It also used to be that a permit only lasted for three months. Then if you pass the test for your license then the back of your permit was stamped and acted as your license so you could drive by yourself and with passengers until you receive(d) your license. If you didn't pass the test then you could renew your permit for another three months. I personally believe a 15 year old should be able to get their permit nine months to a year before their 16th without needing to renew. At least six months in, the new driver should be able to drive on their own and with passengers if they pass a test. Then pass another test the day before/after their 16th to get their license.
I'd say if Claire does get a car of her own, even sooner rather than later, and if it's gon' be a Tesla, then I believe a 3 or a Y would be great for her. Or, if the 2 is out by then, maybe that could be a better vehicle for Claire. If she doesn't want a Tesla then her preference should be respected. Lincoln having his Y is great since he hauls his golf stuff with him. So maybe a Y might be a lil bigger than sufficient for Claire. Unless she has an interest of her own that would require hauling stuff with her. Just be careful with certain things you keep in your vehicle(s)! About a few months or so ago, in Las Vegas, the father of an 11 year old bass player had their music stuff stolen from the back of his extended cab truck.
AWES😎ME job, BE-Y🥰U-TI-FUL Claire! That 'turd' that beeped at you, fo' what!? You'll get more and more used to driving over time, yo.

look up driving tests for countries like Germany or the UK, then adapt them to the US as a check list for driving proficiency. obviously, US laws will superceed foreign laws, but things like you must show you can safely carry out manoeuvres in accordance to your country's laws/ regulations, even if your country's driving test doesn't test for it, should be practiced.

Make it a habit of always turning the head to the left before merging. The blind spot is no joke.

Love her confidence in her limits. Dan: “Wanna go on the highway?”
    Claire: “No”
    Dan: “Busy street downtown?”
    Claire: “No”
Dan: “Take me through a drive…”
Claire: “No. this is it today.”
    Good job! Way to go!

To be fair since you all have same brand vehicle you stay the same or buy other brand that ev. I saw ev at 53k so you can look round. There probably taxs loop holes can be found and best way is to talk to a taxs expert like a business deal.

In Australia we have plates that learner drivers must display to show they are a learner, they are square bright yellow with a big black L, it surprises me you don’t have something like that in the US.
