Thanks for the high quality review man! Love how you film yourself, keeps it super entertaining. I don’t care what any grumps in the comments say, I also loved the music you tested. EDM is always top tier when it comes to speaker bass and clarity testing. You killed it. Love to see it!

My first thought was that this is physically huge for a 'portable' speaker, but then the wide loud sound combined with impressive battery life would make for an excellent speaker for back garden barbeques or caravan use. Won't be replacing my homepod but for those who like the Sonos sound I can see this being really good for many use cases.

I am using the line in of the sonos move to get my turntable connected to all sonos speakers. That is the key feature for me. Works flawless ☘️

Just bought the Move1 with $79 bag for $249USD total brand new on clearance.
Hard to pay almost twice as much for Move2.
Mine sits in my office until I need it outside.
    Works well.

Sold my Bose portable home speaker and bought Sonos move 2, over all I'm so pleased with it and I will give it 9 out of 10 regarding the tech specs and sounds clarity.

I want to do the same. I've recently bought an Eras 300 for the dining area, and I've a Sonos One in the back bedroom and I've a Bose Portable Speaker in the front room next to the patio door, I can take that speaker outside on the front patio so it's handy, and it sounds very good. I would like to go all Sonos; once a week, I have to reconnect the Bose to the WiFi as it will lose connection. I'm an Apple man, so I use AirPlay 2.

It’s as if you got in my head to make this review. I want a third sonos and wavered between another Era 100 or a Move I could carry from kitchen to screened porch in summer. You confirmed my suspicion that a lighter, smaller Era would best suit my needs. A Move would hog up counter space and it’s just a matter of passing a corded Era three feet through the door. With the extra savings to add a truly portable Roam to my Sonos family.

just seen that Sonos has $100 discount on the Move 2 (not sure if that's for every country). Anyway, now considering that ..not for the camping :D but just not to be tied to the plug socket. I live in a small place ..not enough to multiroom with many Sonos (yet!), but picking up a Move 2 to switch to another room may come in incredibly handy.

Bless you for reviewing this! I was wondering about the Move 2 versus Era 100. When I'm out and about, I don't really need a hi-fi speaker. But I was curious how it compared to Era 100 for an in-home speaker. Sounds like Era 100 would handle what I'm looking for in a high-end speaker. Thanks!!

Good balanced review. I have the Move 1 and use it often outside by the pool area. If you have a Sonos network of speakers then the Move is a very good addition. All too expensive but as an Apple customer I am well used to that.

I have slowly been converting my home with sonos i have 2 orignal moves that i can take in the back yard in a pair since my wifi covers outdoors...or they stay in my basement on their chargers and provide my basement sound. So they serve 2 purposes and for that they are definitely worth the money imo.

I'm getting one of these to replace a dead HomePod for my office at home with the added bonus I can take it out into the garden when i'm out there. I really like the form factor being bigger and premium as I have heard things like the UE Boom and whilst portable, sounds naff. Best of both worlds I think.

This is good as a first impression review. But I would love to actually see it being used with a tv, phone, computer, also does it work with RUclips Music since Sonos and Google have been at war? Also how does it work at range on WiFi. Some WiFi speakers have issues with getting on a different channel than your phone.

My personal opinion is the Bluetooth is supposed to be an after thought. Sonos designed this to be more of an at home portable speaker which you could “move” from room to room including the bathroom and pool. Using WiFi is obviously the way you should use it connecting to your other Sonos speakers that are most likely in other rooms. The only way this should be reviewed is using WiFi with comparison to a Sonos era100 and 300 at home in whatever room the main area of listen would be. To me the move2 is perfect to put on a shelf that has no way to run a wire and would have perfect placement. So you charge it most likely in the same room and put it on the shelf that you really want it and it stays there until it’s 24 hour battery wears out to be charged again. Which I bet if used often isn’t for at least a few weeks to a month at a time. Also Sonos should allow these as rears to an arc to compete directly with the Sony A9.

I'm a Sonos guy. have the in-home stuff. I use my move when I go to my patio to grill and into the garage when I'm doing garage stuff. It's great when you are out of the house and will be there for a while. Frankly, because of the poor battery life of the Move 1, I never took it camping. Maybe if I pick this up, I will. ...but probably not. I have smaller, water proof-ish speakers I pair together for camping. The only issue I have with the Move 2 is the lack of support for Google asst. I LOVE RUclips Music and that is an issue. when using voice control.

    Thank you for the review.
    However,
There’s a couple of points in this review that stick out like a sore thumb.
    1. You state its heavy weight as a negative. Yet you pride it on its full sound and battery. I’m sure you’re aware, but a high end driver has heavy magnets. It’s essentially impossible to have deep and hard hitting bass without this
I’d honestly pass on this if its claim to fame was low weight because until we have alien technology, you cant just create displacement out of thin air.
    2. You say the Era 100 is essentislly good for someone who’s okay brining extension cords outside with nice weather. I’m sorry but that’s a pain in the ass. Not to mention a safety hazard if it does rain.
It’s soooo much more convenient to grab the Move 2 off the base and bring it literally anywhere you want. Not to mention it has better sound quality. There’s pretty much no advantage to the era 100 except price.
Maybe price is your whole angle to begin with, but the Era can’t do what the move can. Both in portability and sound.
