    One thing that should be known about the Roam is the battery’s tendency to die after about 14 months if you tend to leave it on a wireless charger, conveniently a couple months out of Sonos’ 12 mo warranty. Best you’ll get is a 30% off code toward another product. I’d steer clear and just go for the Move 2 with its replaceable battery.

    The choice comes down to how big of a speaker you want. I have both Move 1 and Roam. The Roam is perfect for my golf cart - good sound in a small package and I keep it plugged into the USB charger, so it's always ready to go. The Move 1 obviously sounds better because it's a bigger more powerful speaker. I keep it docked in my kitchen so I can pair it along with my family room Sonos amp system. I take the Move out to the patio or to the beach. Both are great speakers

      Yup, I put a pair of Roams in my wifes office as her desk is tiny and very cluttered - they work really well as PC speakers, and we can take one or both of them away with us much easier than the Move - which I do take away sometimes, but only if we are going away for more than a few days.

    You're doing great work, @PeterPee! I've a long-time Sonos user (over 7 years, anyhow). I have four (4) Play:5(Gen2), (1) Sub (Gen2), (2) Play:1, and a Boost (!). I watched a bunch of *your* videos before choosing (2) Move2 to add to my collection for the front porch, where we also watch movies on a drop down screen. It's pretty sweet! I bought the Move2s based up opon this video of yours, and though I just unpacked them yesterday, I'm pretty happy with the Move2s on first use. But have an immediate question, and a more backgroundy one.... (A) First, If I pair my Move2 (for porch movie viewing) and then decide to take one with me elsewhere, I really can't unless I unpair it, right? Because if I do, the any music will be directed to *both*. So that means constant pairing/unpairing unless I decided just never to pair them or to take both with to the other side of the house (I'm disabled, so carrying two makes it a bit difficult!) What do you do? (B) Also, how do you differentiate the two Move2? I mean, I bought them both in the same color (green, which I really like!), and am wondering if I should have gotten one in a different color so that when I put them down for movie viewing, I make sure that I put the Left one on the Left and the Right one on the Right. Labeling them seems silly. Is this an oversight? What do you do? (C) Finally, have you done any experimentation with TruePlay for Move2s? Does it really matter if I trueplay them here if I use only one, or both, stereo pair or not? They will never be put in the same place for a movie (the whole idea is to get the speak close to the viewers so the sound doesn't together the whole neighborhood... it's on a porch!). Sonos now has an automatic TruePlay. Does that factor in? Oh, so many questions on this, and there I have no ability to do any real testing. Does it rise to your level of interest so you might? (D) Have a great day!!!!!

    I’m very confused why are you saying the move2 can’t be made into a stereo pair on this chart when they can?

  • @BruceRichwineJr

    Good video and information. But the real use case scenario in my opinion favors the Roam. You can use it as a shower speaker and easily take it with you for a small tailgate at a sporting event or concert. The Move 2 sounds great, but anywhere I would consider using it I already have a Sonos product permanently parked there.

    Sonos Move 2... I have the Sonos Move, Sonos Move 2 and 2 Roams (that I use as my computer speakers - for music) with my Mac. It’s about the battery! The roams don’t last as long as Move 2. (Even if all devices are new.)

      The move is currently $150 less than the Move 2. Do you think the Move 2 justifies the $150 price difference?

      Yes I'm confused about that too - with the Roams, I can see them on my Google Home devices and play music to them from my Google hub just by telling Google to play to the named device - as you say, can ask it for suggested playlist and so on - same with my Move - but have they now removed even Google Home integration with the Move 2?

    With the bluetooth gateway functionality now available in the Move 2, can you now stereo pair a couple of them when you're away from your home (like on a camping trip)? This is something I've always found lacking that other manufacturers offer.

    • @Beer_Dad1975
      @Beer_Dad1975 Год назад

      I imagine so - you can with the Roam.

    • @SpaceCowboyCO

      @@Beer_Dad1975 I did some more research. Turns out you can only do this with either the Roam or Move 2 if the speakers are also connected to the same WiFi network. If you're away from home, like camping somewhere where there isn't any WiFi, the only way to do this is the hotspot/travel router workaround. Sonos really should have introduced this as part of the Move 2 release. It is a major missing piece of functionality. Other manufacturers use an internal WiFi connection to 'pair' multiple speakers. C'mon Sonos! Why can't you just give people what they want instead of what you think they want.

    • @Beer_Dad1975
      @Beer_Dad1975 Год назад

      @@SpaceCowboyCO Thanks for the info, I had just assumed the Roam included this feature, but I've never actually taken both of them away from home. Hotspot is a work-around I guess, but for the average punter, might be a bit confusing where built in pairing would be much simpler.

    Hi Peter, very useful info. I am first time buyer of blue tooth/wifi/smart speaker and has zeroed down on Sonos. i am looking for a good sound quality with heavier bass but loudness is not the criteria . Secondly in terms of portability in outdoors, i will need the sound max upto my sitout terrace or balcony and not beyond. Though I have finalized on Move 2 whenever it is launched in India, i would love to hear/watch your opinion on comparison on choosing between 2x Era 100 as stereo set and Move2 . looking forward for your episode on this. if you do then please ping me. Regards

    That's actually baffling to me. The Roam is undoubtedly the worst product in the entire Sonos ecosystem. I know several people who got them and not ONE of them kept it or is happy with it, everyone has connectivity issues. It sounds awesome for its size, but it keeps disconnecting no matter what.
