This documentary though, done in French, and the subtitles are done with no highlight, so half the time one cannot read them as the words blend in with the background. Vice, would you care to re-upload this video again, clearly?

I should have taken French seriously when I was in high school. Unfortunately my French teach spent much of her time telling us how French colonialism brought civilization to West and Central Africa.
I told her that there were many African civilizations long before the French and other Europeans invaded the continent. We argued frequently and I answered most of her attempts at trying to teach me French by replying, "Je ne sais pas." I managed to get a B+ as a grade. Conjugating verbs in French actually helped me write better in English! It helped me to understand all those variations in tenses..
I also told my French teacher to read Franz Fanon to rid herself of her colonial thinking. She called me a crazy young radical. My reply was "C'est vrai!"
@@kensmall6755 Well done Ken, was your teacher French by chance? They have a serious 'bee in their bonnet,' that English is the international language of business etc, and they hate that. (yes we have many French words in our lingo). There are 2 organisation in France to try and stop Franglais : Public authorities such as the Académie française and the Conseil supérieur de la langue française generally propose alternative words for anglicisms.

In a way, I regret not having learned French back then because there are a sizable number of Central and West Africans in the US who have French as one of their primary languages. However, I found her celebrations of French colonialism to be over the top. Songhay and Mali were civilizations generations before France achieved its colonial splendor.

@@jumbroni6014 Let me tell you about the incident then. once upon a time (I don't remember the exact period, we we kids), my mum made us dumplings (here we call it momo) and my younger sister usurped a bowl of momo and tried to eat that but that was scorching hot inside. The moment she ate my mum asked about how it tastes, she in the meantime tried to save her tongue from the heat but had to reply also. So she made some sounds foreign to us that we could not get a grasp of as to what she wanted to say. That was french according to me!
