The Legend Of Barefoot Bandit: A Teenage Fugitive on the Run | Real Stories True Crime Documentary
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 сен 2024
- Colton Harris-Moore's superhuman ability to escape capture by stealing airplanes and living in the wilderness made him a modern day folk hero. Fusing documentary, graphic novel style animation, and dramatic recreations, the film contrasts the story of a real kid who fell into burglary to keep from starving with his mass media persona, The Barefoot Bandit. While telling Colt’s larger-than-life story, this film examines the public fascination with underdog anti-heroes and how fame becomes the kiss of death for these outlaws we root for.

He read a book titled "How to Fly a Plane" then flew it. Badass if you ask me.
Heh, I was in grade school and saw an illustrated control scheme form the sopwith camel, after that I designed several flight control systems.
Still though, this guy ACTUALLY FLEW, guy had balls to be sure.
word on the street is that he stole the book from the first amazon book store.
I have a commercial pilot's license with an instrument rating. During primary flight training it took about 13 hours before I was performing good landings on my own. Flying a light plane is not difficult, but to read a book and then actually do it does indeed show a high level of ability. It's actually amazing.

This kid must have been in amazing physical condition too. Lots of people are on the "run", but he was literally running a lot; running, climbing and jumping with relative ease. And he walks away from plane wrecks. A relisient character.
The thing that shocks me is he never broke a bone in any of his crashes

True, sir. However, he wasn't in boot camp, he was just a delinquent teen from a messed up family. Don't get me wrong, I agree with you but I just don't think this gifted kid ever got the chance to have those sort of morals drilled into him. It's a shame though.
@richardhalo 1% of the US population serves. 1% of THAT 1% are infantrymen, our country's warriors.
Not everyone has the balls to be a warrior, nor do they have any sense of adrenaline control. Thats why so many cops light up people, they havent controlled their fear.

kid was an idiot smart people don't break the law be cause the law will eventually win
Unknown It obviously takes intelligence to fuckin teach yourself to fly at sixteen, most people can’t even memorize areas to know them as well as he clearly did. Whether you consider his actions to be stupid isn’t relevant to his intellect. (The law also doesn’t always eventually win... I’d love to see half this much effort put into finding and jailing rapists and violent offenders.)
Unknown if you think “smart people” don’t break the law then, you yourself are an idiot, it’s people like you who follow the rules that don’t exceed.
Skyler Gray He is very intelligent, but he still stole thousands of dollars from small businesses, and stole food etc, not to mention the 4 planes 😂, still impressive though.
This kid was literally living his own movie and dreams, that is something not alot of people achieve
At the expense of hard working people who contribute to society. Maybe those planes that he STOLE and then CRASHED were someone's dream. This kid took what he did not earn nor was there a fair trade for what he took. All he learned how to do was subtract from others.
I Just Posted Th1s people who can afford planes have insurance.
@@marcuslarwa9098 Not all the time. Many aircraft dont have insurance because the owners want the airplane as a status symbol but cannot actually afford to make payments on the plane, storage, fuel and yearly REQUIRED maintenance. Also, the insurance companies will fight the owners tooth and nail to NOT payout claims as that is not a sustainable business model. Insurance companies don't remain solvent by paying out to the policyholders so they will use any reason to stiff the owners.
I Just Posted Th1s dude wtf are u talking about he stole planes from small hangers on vacation islands. Also u can’t fly a plane without insurance it’s not like owning a car. I have to register the plane and u can’t if it isn’t insured. I’d bet 95% of those planes are owned by rich people and the other 5% are probably small business. Nobody owns a plane that can’t afford it u sound real stupid. So insurance companies aren’t going to pay? The planes were stolen by a fugitive and then crashed why on what grounds could the insurance companies not pay out the claims.

@F. Friedrich Kling I actually am a police officer and his story really spoke to me. As an Officer I would find him infuriating, he is very intelligent. It's like my dad says: If criminals were smart they would never get prosecuted. However as a person, I can't deny he is inspiring. Even if he was on the wrong side of the law, the fact he went back for his dog speaks to me deeply.
Survival is deeply in the spirit of people whom deal with abuse all their lives. He is proof you can tie us down forever.
This kid is amazing ! He deserves a featured Hollywood funded full length film .
@Lexine Bate Thank you !
Hopefully it will be announced soon
@campbellscollision He won't receive a dime. That has been ordered to go to his many victims.
nah, the industry will ruin this legend, if they made a movie about him in this generation that'd be disrespectful
Lexine Bate more like “cant touch this”
This is one of the best put together Documentaries I’ve seen.
u should see this one, smash and grab story of the pink panthers
You might as well type “I don’t watch many documentaries”.
@@LGRW313 lol, EXACTLY!
#300th
O yes
He had an incredible adventure for 2 years. Out smarted police, and FBI, trained himself to fly a plane and stole his dog back. I liked that part. This was a well put together documentary.
Gotta love the cartoon of him turning around and flicking off the cops
Brilliant that the sound of barefoot running and thst rucksack
I loved how he fell out of the plane when he crashed it the second plane he crashed
*flipping ... you flip the bird. Not flick it.
@jerry s thank you. My god. Lol this is one of my most triggering pet peeves.
@jerry s hey, at least you try. I stopped trying and I've just disassociated and read comments only for the philosophical reasons. Haha
Gives him a ride, smokes him a J, and even packs him a bagged lunch and a few bucks, classic Canadians lol
🇨🇦 yess
Eh lol
thats why crime rates in canada are much lower that americas lol
Fuckin eh🤘🇨🇦
Cool Canadians! Right on...
Possibly one of youtube's greatest recommends for me personally.
What a great job Colt's mother did raising this kid!!!!
😂😂😂😂the mom didn't raised him..he had to figure this out all by himself

Should have drafted this kid into the CIA/Military. He's a born survivor.
He stole to survive.
@@sourdiesel8344 The Elites are stealing from everybody on the planet.....Lawfully, they set the laws and have the economy wound tight around their greedy fingers! This kid was SURVIVING the only way he knew how to!
Anyone can steal and run from the cops..he just used his head unlike most who run
@@bluenose6795 that's just how life works ya wombat. This kid survived by stealing off good people.
I don't think he would like that
He's my hero, and I'm 75 yrs. old......he knows what living free means...
Someone’s gotta carry the torch.
Whether or not anyone sees the light that torch brings is a whole different matter.
Colton could be the only person capable of entering Area 51, steal technology/alien pet, no Naruto run and escape unscathed
It's My Life unscathed* but we get it :)
Tru dat
He wouldn't even get close. They don't play there.
Bring him wit y'all wen ya go
Yes!!!! Omg
Brilliant this is the first time in 13 years that I had a grin on my face because in my life there’s nothing funny, and I owe it all to that young man Colton Harris that’s a fine young man he is, and I pray he has a long wonderful happy life and god bless his mama, COLTON HARRIS A LIVING LEGEND MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT TO COLTON AND HIS MAMA
"he is now studying to become an aeronautical engineer."
*uh oh*
Rlly
NASA: breathes “don’t”
Oh no..
E lon musk better hire him
He should become an instructor for the special forces on how to evade capture.
i read that he asked for an early release from probation to become a motivational speaker
Modern day self taught Spartan.
@michael hatch agreed
Would be a great idea if thw special forces wasn't the onea.capturing and killing ppl
Michael Hatch was thinking the same thing.
He protec
He attacc
But most importantly
He get his dog bacc
That was hilarious broke it and got his dog back
They deserved that one. Anyone who'd use someone's dog as collateral damage needs their nuts clipped.
The best comment here
When he did that I looked at my dog right next to me and couldn't help but think ,,,,you'd be screwed fella
So basically your saying this guy is John wick
A lot of us played the game "Thief" but this guy lived it. What a legend
When you're a kid/youth all you want is to be free, Imagine having the world as your oyster, what a legend.
Well said. Stealing other people's stuff is lame, but I imagine he was just after his own idea of freedom, not a hurtful evil person.
Can't call him a libertarian, but I can call the kid a liberty absolutionist.
One of the most Interesting crime documentary I watched
It really is. I enjoyed the animated parts a lot!
I liked the hippies with guitars and their story about giving him a ride, too. 🤘😎
@@Lonerd 🤙
Yes, and I have watched hundreds. And this is the only criminal I can say I've ever considered to be worthy of being admired. It's astounding he managed to not only fly these planes but navigate from the air. Not to mention safely -- walk away from -- a crash landing not just once but multiple times!
I’ve*
@Rasmus Tens of what, specifically are you assuming as regards myself and my background as an investigator?????
I consider this guy as a hero. Even though he was a criminal, he was still an amazing guy. He had a heart. He didn't harm anybody. He helped animals. He is still better than 95% of humanity.
For real.....!
Yea, yea he didn't or did he put a foot wrong g. No one perfect yet
the fact he sold his story for 1.4million and then gave the money to those he stole from says a lot
He was a common bandit.
Khaled Ullah ......95% of humanity?
Are you high or just very bad at math?
I echo everyone’s thoughts about him but…
I really wanna give some respect to the people that made this documentary. It’s incredibly well done and captivating. I never sub on the first date, I gotta give the channel a chance before they overrun my algorithm, but this was an instant sub.
Are you serious? They made a documentary about a lowlife thief. They put some cool music with it and now it’s all good? Shame on you!
@@rickybrown7687You sound like an old man going through a midlife crisis. Thats a bit speculative but i'm certain your 40+

This kid didn’t “crash” the planes... he landed them as best he could do and clearly he did a damn good job.....
Really all I remember about him is the aircraft pilot who lived next door to us was in awe.
@@RaveSceneTribute
Hey that could be true.
Yea can’t really use a landing strip when you’re a fugitive with no contacts
Any landing you can walk away from is a good one.
The fact he was able to teach himself and not die in the process shows that he could have a bright future with the right circumstance. I hope he makes it some day.
this kid had the whole bottle of Flintstones vitamins
Ha
the funny thing is he did actually steal lots of vitamin tablets
detective : did we get any prints ?
deputy : no finger prints, but we got a couple of toe prints
On a date
So what did you do for fun when you were younger?
Colton: well...
Well see I stole multiple aircrafts and flew them for fun but I mostly spent my time breaking into houses.
Colton well you aren't going too believe me
😂 good one
He’d be an amazing boyfriend, keeping you safe always I bet. I think if he had real love he’d never do a runner, he’s studying how to build a plane so, also wow ( if he took me with him )
Its a long story
No really
Imagine if he had military special forces training.
Jay Johnson so cool
Government should have hired them. In China and Russia if they catch really good hackers, they hire them, they don't jail them. It would seem this kid has all the skills to be a spy.
@7Ahilles that's fake money not hacking and USA locks them up the russian government gets in contact with them and hires them
Seriously. The dude should be a SEAL.
7Ahilles It seems like the guy just really wants a reason to hate the US, no matter how justified, unjust or otherwise.
A great example of Confirmation Bias or “Cherry Picking”.
this was one of the best docs ive watched on youtube, and trust me ive watched alot.. this was so well put together
I thoroughly enjoyed it as well and I'm a documentary buff myself. Even the semi cheesy animated parts were alright.
TattedBoi I like how they animated it so we don’t have to watch some people talking for a hour
TattedBoi ong
I've watched other documentaries on this same kid and I really wish they had of included the down time he had where he headed to Vegas for 5 months and became a black jack dealer. It would been a great switch up for the show for sure. So unexpected and against the normal MO that he had going on. Thats the time when people thought maybe he was dead.
He wasn't always in barefoot apparently. Lol
TattedBoi ur well put together
What an incredible young man, I wish he was Scottish. What an intelligent & resourceful laddie. Big massive respect from a Scot.
He had lived an adventurous life more than most people
