Dangerous Company: A Deadly Drug Smuggling Operation | Real Stories True Crime Documentary

  • The life of an international trafficker is seedy and extremely dangerous, and exactly the kind of life a couple of Kentucky bluebloods decided to lead. One, a former undercover narcotics agent who wasn’t making enough money illegally selling the drugs from busts, the other a savvy deal maker, teamed up to form “The Company,” the front for their drug smuggling business. As the operation grew, so too did the paranoia and betrayal. Arrests would eventually break apart the team, allowing investigators to get the jump on the dangerous and, in the final days, murderous “Company.”

I'll add some random comments because...why not?
    1) You can find at least one internet article that states Drew died because his chute did not open, but both the investigator and the police report (which you can find on the internet) say his emergency chute did open. Drew's Wikipedia article says he died from freefall.
    2) Commenter @DurAble says the second coin at 8:20 is a Norwegian 10 kroner. The third coin looks Austrian. The gold coins are in fact krugerrands....or else accurate props of such.
    3) Several commenters have pointed out inconsistencies with the plane. My opinion is...yep. The real plane that Drew jumped out of was a Cessna 404 Titan which is a low wing, twin engine aircraft with retractable landing gear. The cutscene at 0:08 shows a high-wing with fixed landing gear. The rest of the cutscenes that are clear enough to show the plane type are of a Beech B90 King Air...similar to a Titan but not the same. The King Air can be verified using the registration number shown at 48:51.
    4) The wreck they show at 16:10 is probably a salvage wreck that the show bought (or borrowed) from a salvager and used as a prop. It looks nothing like the wreck shown at 17:26 which looks like it might be actual footage of the crash site.
    5) The more I look at the wreck scene, the more gaffs I see. For one, the tail number N8664Z belongs to a Cessna P206C which is a high-wing single engine aircraft (you can see the real plane at 0:40). The wreck is of a low-wing twin engine...you can see where the wing placement was at 18:22. The comment made by @mokiloke (dashboard looks like a cardboard cutout) is not far wrong. When an aircraft is salvaged, one of the first things that's done is to remove all the high value parts for resale, such as the instruments (the meters and gauges). Since replacing them for this scene would have cost literally tens of thousands of dollars, the show simply drew some dials on paper and put them where the instrument holes are. Its kinda comical. Also, when an aircraft crashes at speed in a forest, you can pretty much bet that you won't find one of the wings casually draped on top of the fuselage like you see at 18:13.
    6) The show gives the name of the slain judge as John Drews (Druse? Druz?). It was actually John H. Wood, and there is a Wikipedia article about him. Interesting side note: His killer, Charles Harrelson, was the father of actor Woody Harrelson who was famous as bartender Woody in the American sitcom Cheers.
    7) Another interesting side note: A few months after Drew made his jump, a black bear was found dead in Georgia. Cause of death? Cocaine ingestion. Cocaine Bear, Lexington, Kentucky (roadsideamerica.com)
    8) At 1:06:22, the narrator says "...even semi-automatic M-2 carbines" as if that's a big deal. For one thing, an M-2 is not a semi-automatic...its a select-fire (that means it can be set to fire like a machine gun). and, I would also say that finding soviet machine guns and an anti-tank weapon would be much more deserving of the "even" emphasizer.
    8) Yet another interesting sidenote: The plane that this show seems to have rented for many of the aircraft scenes, is a King Air owned by...somebody. Depending on when this show was made, it was either Win Win Aviation (who seems to no longer be in business) or NBBS, LLC who I can find no info on. I guess this should not be surprising since, back in the 1970s, that registration number was assigned to a Beech-18 owned by Air America (a private airline connected to the CIA). 8-)

      @@KevinGardnerSr Just normal internet searching.
My comment was made 2 years ago, so naturally I can't say if the internet webpages that I visited are still there, but...
      1) You can find articles on Drew by simply doing a search on his name.
      2) You can find what Krugerrands look like by searching them and looking at the pictures. 8-)
      3) You can find info on planes by, again, reading articles on Drew (at least one of which mentions the plane he was using), and looking up tail numbers on at the FAA website, and by simply looking at the RUclips video.
      4) Several of my comments are not facts. They are opinions, and I believe I made that clear in the wording I used.
      5) I've never worked for the Feds (unless you count military service), but I did work at a flight school for a few years.
      6) I did not comment on the stuff at 1:15:33. My comments are mostly about the quality of this video, i.e. props and cutscenes that were put in this video that are not accurate. Sorta like when you watch some of the older WW2 movies where the movie tries to show German tanks but in fact those tanks are simply American tanks with German markings...presumably because the movie production company could not afford to hire actual WW2 German tanks.

It's very difficult to hide a wrong doing to the authority especially drug's. You will be successful for so many times but once your caught, your done.

Lol, how could you possibly know that???
Cause all the shows people are caught>??
And the other end of it??? You just guessing lol

Of really? Did you know these guys had direct CIA connections? Only reason they got brought to justice is because a guy literally landed dead on someone's driveway lol. They weren't going to be caught. Now they are trying to say he was thrown out of the plane on purpose to let him be the fall guy.

When the CIA is involved, u wont find much "real" footage. Weapons for Drugs, is exactly what the CIA was doing at this time.
