I'm Irish. My grandfather was an altar-boy. I remember growing up and he implored my parents not to send me to the church. I remember overhearing him telling my mother: "Send him to the lions before you send him there." I didn't understand what he meant at the time, and I don't think my mother did either. He never came out and admitted it, but I genuinely believe this is what he meant. Then all this came out. Crazy.

People have forgotten that good journalists expose horrible people and corruption and criminal acts they do, and keep the more wealthy criminals from hiding that otherwise would remain hidden.
The press can do so much good and that's why dictatorships or communist governments don't allow freedom of the press. That way evil can prevail. Good journalists shine a light on evil and expose it. There's a man my father's age I've known most of my life, and I only found out recently he IS STILL struggling in his 70s with the effects of childhood Catholic priest molestation.
Everyone I know that was raised Catholic, including myself, remembers it as an extremely negative experience. I was beaten routinely by my devil in the flesh grade school principal. I wasn't sexually abused, but one religion teacher tried. Seems that the latest scandal, exposed by the head attorney general of Pennsylvania a few years ago, has vanished from the news and covered up as usual.

As an Argentinian citizen, I am completely ashamed of what the pope has done by protecting paedophiles. There’s been a lot other cases coming to light in the last years. We rent a room to a man who attended Catholic seminary for the priesthood for 4 years. He said he left because of the cover up of the church regarding priests sexually abusing children. I was 16, when the president of the, Abbey college, asked me to join The Abbey, and watch, "The Church," and look for misconduct either sexual or theft, and to make sure The Church was clean. I am 61 now, and my job is over. In 45 years, there was not one case of misconduct and all of the original Father's, and Brothers are still working in the Abbey.(Except for those who have passed). Being a catholic, I feel so ashamed; may the victims find peace and justice. Any paedophile is not working for God, and should not be a priest but in jail. Many of them entered for other reasons beside serving God. If the law of different countries prosecute child abusers, why can't they go after those wolves? So heart-breaking!

It was one of the reasons, the betrayal of trust, that took me out of the Catholic Church. But I say to loyal Catholics who go to church every Sunday and put their hard earned money in the plate. Do you put money in the plate to be used to defend and hide offending priests from justice? The church has been known to even secretly move them out of the country to a place where their past is unknown. In one case it was reported that one offender was able to hide in the Vatican for a time with diplomatic protection.
I certainly objected to giving any money for that purpose.

But why Godhead and not three persons? 1 John 5:7 does not indicate three persons. It simply says, and these three are one. It does not say. These three persons are one.

I am so glad that I wasn't a regular church goer when my son was little and growing up. He was unbelievably cute kid, getting many comments and complements about his beauty. As I'm watching the above I get sick to my stomach thinking what could had happened to him if I signed him up to be an altar boy.

I didn’t know these sexual abuse scandals would be close to home for me because I recently found out about hundreds of sexual abuse cases in my local diocese in the 50+ years since it was founded.

OR WHY NOT PUT PRIESTS IN JAIL
My husband became really close to our old priest and that priest admitted he knew of and took confession from another priest here in Ohio USA about abusing over 100 kids. But he wont ever tell on this other priest because its his friend and it would be against his priesthood vows to do so.
My husband and i have left that church and the Roman Catholic religion.
We were told by authorities theres nothing anyone can do because its hearsay and they know the priest would NEVER confirm what he told my husband.
It makes me sick to my stomach knowing i may have taken communion from the hands of a pedo priest and a priest who knows whats going on

Cardinal George Pell, here in AUSTRALIA was able to avoid being held to account for crimes of PEDOPHILIA, albeit he was forced to spend a minimal time in prison.
Unfortunately, he died, avoiding any more attempts at justice for his , many victims, over many years !!!

I am an Australian Catholic. In recent years we had an Australian Cardinal George Pell who was found guilty of sexually assaulting small boys and sent to jail. He was released after a short in case ration and returned to the Vatican. He was working there and came back to face the courts. When he went back to the Vatican I lost faith in the Catholic Church but not in God. Disgraceful behaviour .

As a Bostonian I am so proud of Phil Saviano.People called him crazy for YEARS, the church and many Catholics in our community called him a fraud and a liar...but he persisted. He told the truth and gave others space to do the same. He NEVER let up. It was he and others telling their stories that got the Boston Globe involved in breaking the story of Catholic Priests abusing kids and the coverup of that abuse by the church back in '01/'02...because of his bravey and the bravery of others, we know. And because of him and others, survivors have somewhere to go. I am so proud. So proud.

I am happy to find documentaries like so that complement the film Spotlight. And in specially important to show that everyone in the church hierarchic are covering up for these bad priests. Thus, the church itself is a criminal organization. It was and still is bad for humanity.
If these crimes were committed by gangsters, mafians, terrorists etc, it would not bother me. What annoys me is that these crimes are committed by "very godly people".

Survived 12 years of parochial school. I suffered shaming and physical abuse. School was an experience of anxiety and fear as child. My brother told my mother of witnessing one of his fellow alter boys being abused and my mother told him to not talk about it.
