Also, as another user asks, which "true story"? This is a documentary which are generally truer than something you might see on Netflix which does host a story. I'd have to check his participation in that one; I think he may have though. It is similar to documentary style, but not quite. Poor guy wants as much information out to the public as possible to see what filters back in new information or tips, I'm sure.

Guilt can be a tremendous motivator but in this case it Is clear that he is absolutely not to blame for her kidnapping and must have come to that conclusion early on. You cannot deny that he very much loved his sister.
Love and loyalty is without a doubt a more powerful motivator than guilt. Observing this story with a bit of empathy (which is necessary if you want to see something in perspective) it is obvious that guilt was not his motivation more than a very small part of his tireless investigation. Feeling regret that he didn’t accompany his sister that day, yes, but not his sole motivation. There lies a very big difference. To say that he was motivated purely by guilt is a bleak accusation and judgmental statement to make.

I have to say. As a small child, around 4-5yrs old, i hated being in a church. It continued into adulthood.
I told my mother i would no longer attend church when i was 17. Of course upset she was, i told her why.

I remember the story of Emmanuela Orlandi when we lived within the Vatican walls too. My father worked in the Vatican press office with the old press machines used in binding old books and documents. I remember even then there were cameras at the Senate building and all over the Piazza Del Popolo. I find it difficult that she could disappear within the walls and not be seen.
I was thinking on that, one of the most protected places in the world.

I M so so sorry for you & others like yourself. I couldn't imagine the pain wrenching my heart daily like you have endured. I lost my baby sister (just turned 13 yrs old, couldn't wait for her 13th bday) - she was killed in car crash on her way to school, it was raining & she had to check on her let's real quick, & missed the school bus) It was the hardest thing to go thru in my life, plus watching my parents go thru it, which they never got over. She was the first child ever killed in our entire family, generations back, & the entire family of relatives never forget her or her dealth either.
They all, everyone, no matter what ages came to her funeral & both schools of her classmates came as well, as they lined up & came in & up to the casket it ripped out hearts out at the people that loved her all showed up.
Lump in throat & tears as I write about it - BUT SHE IS WORTH EVERY TEAR I'VE CRIED THRU THE YEARS. MY KIDS KNOW ALL ABOUT HER THOU THEY WERE BORN DECADES LATER.

The family lived in an apartment inside the Vatican “compound” because the father worked for them. She was probably targeted by someone there because she was a very pretty girl and they had opportunity to do so and the higher ups covered it up and made up the story about someone wanting that prisoners release. If you search the news about him. It says “he didn’t want to be released”. Curious right? Why didn’t/doesn’t someone question the girl who said she was told of the abuse? This is the second documentary I have watched on this. It is so tragic that the family have no answers in this conspiracy involving the Vatican. I hope and wish for her brother and sisters to get some answers and some justice.

I didn’t know Vatican City was a city unto itself before this documentary. It was very interesting. I was glad I had seen before visiting Rome last year.

Just outside the Vatican (2 blocks?) is no different. Lots of crime. Back in1982 on a family trip we got our rented car broken into which was parked on the street. My suitcase was stolen. It was the year Italy beat West Germany in football. I remember saying, lucky Italy beat Germany, because our rental car had German license plates and would have been burnt.
