Jesus did not go to hell and fight the devil. According to Jewish tradition there were two places in the center of the earth. Hell and Abraham's bosom which was Jewish heaven. When Jesus died on the cross he went through hell to Abraham's bosom and took the Jewish souls there to Heaven. Jesus does not fight the devil until after he's bound up and Jesus reigns on Earth for 1000 years.

I was forced to go through CCD when I was 16. We had to go on a retreat once where there were multiple activities to do. As an artist, I picked the sculpture activity and a made a small statue of a hand reaching out of the ground like a zombie with a nail through its palm. I did not want to be there and I thought it would be offensive......the priests loved it......they put it on display.......

Jesus did not go to hell and fight the devil. According to Jewish tradition there were two places in the center of the earth. Hell and Abraham's bosom which was Jewish heaven. When Jesus died on the cross he went through hell to Abraham's bosom and took the Jewish souls there to Heaven. Jesus does not fight the devil until after he's bound up and Jesus reigns on Earth for 1000 years.

@@missundies that's not even true though. Not even Christians believe Jesus went to hell and battled the devil for 3 days. Jesus himself tells the thief on the cross next to him "today you'll he with ME in paradise." How would that be possible if Jesus was in hell for 3 days?
