I'd love to see some cartoon character fanart from you!! Like your favorite character(s)? Maybe you made a video recently that I'm forgetting right now lol but I feel like I haven't seen one of those from you in a while (:
Who tf tells you scratchy-scratches ruin your art?? The rake effect, especially with the blended/gradient colors in the scratches, looks AMAZING. Really finishes the work imo!!
I feel as though you underestimate yourself. Working in a museum I stare at art for various reasons. I love the way you understand value. I would love to see you tackle a mural if you ever branch out in mediums.
I used them as a kid and loved them but never had the courage to get back into it until I saw these videos. He's so humble, it makes me feel like it's not an impossible goal to find my own style and truly enjoy my own expression. ♥
My high school students are starting an awesome oil pastel project tomorrow! I love your videos and I plan on showing them your eyes, noses, and lips videos. You’re the perfect example and I can’t wait for them to see your work!
Blackbean! I am not sure you understand how much this helps folks like me who have told ourselves our entire lives that we didn't have an art bone in our body. I am improving each day I practice. So many thanks my man!! Much love!
I know the throat grab is coming ... But it makes me so happy every time ... Prolly another thing I should bring up with my therapist now that I think bout it ... But oh well... All this talent would make anyone happy
The scratchies are incredible! I love how you can see the colours underneath. It's unbelievable how it still reads as 'skin colour' even though it's so many different hues.
Holy crap. I’m so blown away by all your videos. I was always curious about pastels but I thought I just sucked at them. Turns out I wasn’t using them right. I’ve never seen anyone work pastels the way you do. And I freaking love your personality. Watching your videos puts me in a good mood and laves me feeling inspired.
I just need to tell you how happy I am that i found your channel! I am a sculptor but have been doing my studies in chalk pastels and pencil...but now, I just want to do everything in oil pastel! That eye is EVERYTHING. Thank you for your talented self!!!
I was really stuck with art block and I just started my art class. However, finding your oil pastel videos unlocked a whole new universe of colors for me since I'm a little afraid of acrylics!
Even if you don't always know the exact words you want to say or the "proper" terminology, you can tell you know what you are doing. Your use of color is amazing. I want to work on pushing my use of color to create value and depth. Great video per the usual!!!!
I feel like you underestimate yourself, saying it's random colors and not knowing what you're doing, but really, the way you choose colors is really good application of color theory 👏👏 I just got here today since I'm thinking about trying oil pastels and I feel really inspired by you now🥰
You learn, every time you work on something new. A great artist doesn’t stay in a rut with the same techniques every single time. That’s what makes you a great artist 😊
I love your videos. I have the least experience in oil pastel of any medium, and you don't give yourself enough credit for the tips you offhandedly share. Your voice overs contain so much information that you've forgotten is really valuable, like the little tip about oil pastels drying to the point they won't adhere. You are so correct and this isn't really intuitive, especially if you're coming from oil paint where you need to move around to let things dry. You are so creative and energetic, never stop. ❤️❤️❤️
I am so crazy about you! First time I’ve been this excited about art in years. When I did this eye tutorial, I had very very low expectations. Bam! Best eye I’ve ever done!
I discovered your channel from the first eye video and was super excited to see you did an updated one of the eye. Can’t wait to go home and try this again and compare it to my first one from last year. Love your work!
You are really good. Your spatial sense is spot on. I wish I had your eye / hand coordination. And you are not afraid of colors because you know how they work together. I'm seriously impressed.
I've started learning oil pastel from searching youtube tutorial in few months ago, and i got really inspired from your video, yea, i think you are right, we do not have to follow the exact color, as we should all experience the progress, mistake makes improvement. Thank you for sharing your experience and work, i love your present art piece with doing spontaneously.
I tried oil pastels for the first time since elementary school and i tried to emulate your style with the colorfulness and the scratchy scratch (i adore it). I only have a small pack of the basic colors and they are so similar in value and in vibrancy that i really didn't manage to maintain the values at all. I had so much fun though. Thank you for inspiring me to try oil pastels. I havent been creative for so long🥰🥰
I love your attitude and your art! I'm learning with oil pastels and I've found loads of tutorials on here, which were all extremely mediocre on various levels but your tutorials are fantastic! Thank you! Your passion shines through. Crazy great!!
I could watch you all day! I love the references you choose because they make your pieces that much more interesting. And I love the scratchy scratches because it brings all the colors of your under layers alive!
Never worked with pastels. Husband bought me a kit that had oil pastels included and I found your video from a year ago first and then this one. Love it! Love your vibe! Definitely looking forward to bingeing your stuff and looking forward to future vids.
I have never used oil pastels, I'm like WOW, JUST WOW watching this video. Your an amazing artist and teacher! Your inspiring me to try my Oil Pastels!
The original tutorial was the reason i subscribed to your channel. My mom had bought me some pastels and I wanted to learn how to use them. I came for the information but stayed for the commentary and ur personality that u put into the videos. Keep it up!!!
You know what. I like you. Honest. Bold. Colorful. You make art feel realworldy and prety and free and i love your talking and the use of all kind of colors... And i love oil pastel and you help meuse it the"right way"-free and colorful and kinda crazy... Good for you that you do it full time! Would love to learn your skin tone process... Good luck, man. You do good.
Before I found your art I feared oil pastels because they're so messy lol. But thanks to you! Your art style the way you make oil pastels seem so interesting and and your voice and commentry, omg I'm a big fan of yours!!
I got a 48 set of pastels and 18x24 canvas paper because of you XD I am not afraid to suck, and I have faith you will be one of the artists who motivate me to become a better pastel artist
wait this scratch technique is really nice omfg i love this especially because u have layered the colors with like a lighter value beneath so the texture really comes out nicely
Oh BEEEneee BAAbeeEEE....my FIRST TIME to experience your energy and FUNNNN... Just trying something different, going from pastels and oil painting to try oil pastels. LUFFF your style and courage... and freedom and playfulness...and uncontrolled expression...I could go on. ...OK, I will....you will inspire me to break free of things that hold me back from being BOLD. Thank you thank you and again......thank you. I feel I have found my MUSE.
I can't describe how much I love this video and your art! i loved using oil pastels so much when i was younger and my teachers would always give me shit for adding dark/"unrealistic" outlines but i just liked how they looked and it's very validating to see you do the same things in your work. btw that little part on the bottom of the eye that you called the tear duct is called the conjunctiva
Your too good at oil pastel , but I also enjoy watching your over expressive behavior and emotions that I always look forward to in every video, and it keeps me happy😊
Just discovered your channel today and watched the 1 year video and then this one in a row, your process has been incredible, it’s magic witnessing how your artistic process evolves, I can tell that now you are more confident in going BIG and blending colors, I absolutely love it!!!
Just a supportive comment. I love that you keep it real by not pretending to be perfect. I know you're extremely self-conscious about everything, especially your art. I can totally relate to stressing about art! I have to keep reminding myself that NO ONE knows everything there is to know.. about anything! There is always more to learn. It's okay to admit that. Anyone who claims they know everything about a topic and can't learn anything new.. is a liar! Einstein was still learning. Michelangelo... still learning. I'm glad you took the time to show everyone that you are still learning and I hope everyone understands that and supports you. It's a never ending journey. The more you learn the more you realize how little you know and how much more there is to discover. I know you'll still stress yourself out doing tutorials, but I hope this bit if encouragement helps you (and anyone that reads this) even if it's just a bit. Stay Juicy!
I feel that the scratchy scath make it you. Everything you do is you and its amazing. Don't listen to anyone who is trying to change you style. Of ymcourse you want to listen to the things that make you better, but only you know that is. I honestly believe that you will be in the future art books
Your art is absolutely BREATHTAKING! Everytime I watch one of your videos I fall in love with the artstyle/colors! The scratches are so cool and unique!
I love the scratchy scratch. It shows motion too I think. I love it. And its ur signature I think. Thanks I had a lot of questions u just answered in this one video.
Wow, you have made major improvement, i tought you were just always good, you are so natural! you are AWESOME! love your scratchy scratchy, love the style, the explosion of colors is my favorite, and i love your personality! i dont think you do landscape, but if you would, i would love to see, maybe urban landscape, new york at night with lots of neons? love you!
You’re so Weird & Wonderful! Full blown, crazy living color!!! I’m amazed at how much time & care you take to edit your videos too! Fast paced, full of great art & helpful tips plus you have the most entertaining personality I’ve seen in a long time! Thank you for sharing your time, talents & art w us! Watching your videos makes me happy!
The frugal crafter mentioned you in her oil pastel tutorial and thought I’d pass by and see what kind of oil pastel art you create. I am not an artist. I am a crafter, but I love watching people draw, paint and create pieces of artwork. I had a lot of fun watching your video. You are very talented. Thank you for sharing your talent will us. I've only watched a few of your videos and I already know I'm going to be a total fan girl. I've used oil paints for years but just started to add oil pastels with my work, your videos so far have been very helpful. Much love ✌️☮️

I think you would naturally talk about some of the things you do and how you do them. I don’t know but, honestly, your tutorials are good. Just like your eyes improved and changed over time, so will your tutorials. The most important thing is please keep coming on and painting and talking to us. We’ll learn a lot. I love your style, getting so many colors to move into a harmonious painting! Thank you for helping us! And really anything you’re interested in would be ok with me. Animals, fantasy animals, space, portraits, fashion, landscapes, plants, vintage rooms, old Hollywood greats, monsters, etc., whatever you want to do as a subject would be great! You are awesome!
and now that was a wonderful video... !!! As it made me smile whole time and even some laughs along with learning...! God bless you with that energy and happiness !!
I'm brand new to your channel, just pressed pause because I gotta say...I adore your energy! And the art I see in the background...just Wow! Back to watching. So excited to have found your videos. ❤️

Another self portrait!
What about some kind of animal? 😻
I wanna see you recreate a Renaissance painting in your style.
This is a great suggestion!!!
Birth of Venus! Is that still Renaissance period?
@@anne-marieolivier8318 Yep that's Renaissance.. I bet it would look awesome in his style too
This.
yess that sounds amazing!🌻🍃
the fact that your 2011 crayon pastel artwork already looks pretty proves that you were really born to be this good and talented artist.
Thank you so much!!! But believe me! It's not too cute up close haha!
@@BlackBeanCMS We are always our severest critics! Ur work is Pure Creativity! 🌈💛

officially starting a Blackbean fan club called “Beanie Babies”.
I love how the scratchy scratch reveals some of the color from underlying layers. Definitely adds another element to your artwork!
They taught us that in second grade back in 1956. The smell of all that crayon was too much for me then...
He didn’t ruined it he added his own unique beautiful style scratchy scratch ❤️
I also do oilpastel artworks on tiktok ! ❤️ @danielmanalili0
