The "making sense" is actually called values and takes a bit of practice to master it. To demonstrate this, use only ONE colour of your choice and draw maybe a portrait (A). Then, draw the same portrait (B) but with multiple colours like you would normally do. Take a picture of these two drawings and convert them into black and white. Now, upon comparison, if the values are correct, B should be similar to A where you can distinguish the shapes like the lips, brows etc.
Grab a bunch of random colors and take a picture. Next, edit the picture and take out all of the color saturation so that you have a grey scale. That is an easy way to explain what value is visually! If you want to play with a rainbow of color values, organize those random colors from the lightest value to the darkest value, and use a black and white picture reference to practice! You’ve got this!
OMG, Temi Danso Art! I just saw your video with Christian. I’m so excited about this year’s collaboration. 10 hundred thumbnail gave a lot of hints on which artist artist will be included. I can see it now. This is going to be Epic. Thank you for choosing Christian. It’s so awesome to see other artist I am a fan of is also one of his fans.
Hey Temi! I am one of your subbies. I was surprised to see you here, but I shouldn’t be, considering you made some awesome art with those Crayola skin tone crayons.
I love neocolors, they are currently my favorite medium. The pigmentation is gorgeous! But they finally find a worthy artist in you. You take it to a whole Beanie level! And yes, I would totally lick that nose. And I would also love to see what you do with crayolas.
Wow, I woke up this morning, with a text saying I need to watch this video from a fellow artist friend I personally know. Then later another text from another friend. Christian I am so honored that you would thank me in such a way. This is the most thoughtful and sweetest display of gratitude I have ever been giving. I appreciate this kind gesture so much. I appreciate YOU even more. I sent you those supplies to let you know how much you inspire me and how your videos has gotten me through some tough times. I never expected anything in return. Especially not something this grand. I can’t thank you enough. For you to do all of this was beyond anything I could have imagine. I truly appreciate you. For all you do. You educate us, you entertain us, you inspire us. You are tremendously gifted and talented. And we appreciate you sharing your gifts with us. I am so pleased with the beautiful self portrait you created. I can’t wait to see what else you might create with those supplies in the future. Seeing you create such beautiful works of art with supplies I gave you fills my heart with so much joy. I hope you do get a sponsorship from Caran D Ache. You are truly the Pastel King, to us, your fans. Hopefully Caran d’ Ache can see in you what we see. I look forward to seeing all of your videos every time you post. I really like the realistic smooth look you created with the pastels. I am super proud of you. I know your career is going to soar. I look forward to watching your journey and continuing to cheer you on. Best Wishes to the Pastel King, sincerely, much love, Jobina
Excellent drawing. And great review. I use those colors all the time for my caricatures. They are the best I have found for my art, indeed because they don’t smear easily and they are very blendable. Hope to see you using these for more drawings. Love your work and your videos.
I don’t understand how someone who makes such amazing beautiful art can feel insecure. You’re to hard on yourself my friend. Even when you say I rush and didn’t feel like it….it always turns out so mind blowingly amazing 🤩
That´s how artists are. Always a little insecure! "But it was only me who painted that!" Microsoft went a different way:"It´s not a bug, it´s a feature!"
Because it’s the same as anyone who makes things. . . . . . Heck people as people, because we are so close to us and what we are doing all we see are the flaws, what could have been done better a line that wasn’t exactly how you want, colour inconsistencies, it’s not how you pictured in your head ect or even with people you may think are stunning, they may see pigment issues, large pores, wonky something, lips too big/small ect the list goes on & on & on. The thing about being told you shouldn’t feel insecure or question or critique your own art/body/life is rather invalidating of their feelings. Just because they’ve put in many tonnes of hours of work to get where they are doesn’t change the brain (because it’s typically an unmitigated inflamed butthole) & likes to typically focus on any & all flaws it sees real or imagined & make them so much bigger than they really are.
So I'm not the only one who noticed this. Feeling insecure can sometimes be a good thing. It motivates you to do better. However, verbalising it so people can actually hear it (in this case via video) would harm you in the long run. The verbalising negates your self esteem.
that insecurity is a double edged sword. on one hand, it can be demoralizing but on the other hand it also gives you the motivation to get better. that's why most great artists are highly critical of their own work. they couldn't get to that level if they didn't see the flaws and improved on them.
I'm a massive fan of the neocolor 2's (the watersoluble ones). I have a tin of 15 of them permanently in my pencil wrap. watching you use them is lovely, your style translate beautifully to watercolour.
Possibly the best use of these CD wax pastels I've seen. Caran D'Ache really ought to sponsor you. I love both Neocolor 1 and 2. They're a lot of fun. I cannot imagine how hard you had to press to get that level of blending.
I love the selfie, your skin and nose look so sumptuous and radiant. I always wanted some of those Neo Pastels and Neopastel II. Yes I'd love to see a normal crayon drawing too💕🔥!
JUICY is definitely the word. I’ve used these crayons and it was nice to hear your thoughts about them because you pointed out many things I could agree. But the drawings! Wow! You brought out the best of these crayons! So glad you decided to use them and inspire us with them.
You nailed it. Caran d’ache is expensive but there worth it in my opinion. I use the pastels mostly and I love the fact that you can layer so many times. I purchased the Neocolor II and I love them as well. Try making a color chart with the Neocolor II. The colors are truly vibrant.

Yeaahhh I love the oil pastels too
CRAYONS!!!!!!!!!!
And the Carand’che are one of the most expensive brand, as Conte a Paris or Sennelier too.
Pure brilliance. Watching you work is absolutely mesmerizing. I am just speechless.
Loved it. I like every thing you do. You are fun. And an excellent artist.
That self portrait is AMAZING. You killed it. Love your style. Love your approach. Keep. It. Ah-comin’.
I love your work! It's so rare to find oil pastel, or crayon artists. I think what you do is incredible please continue to do it.
GAHH Your art is just too incredible!!! I'm always baffled with the beautiful shapes you get and how you mix so many colors into your pieces like garshdamn man!! Your artistry and just you as a person deserves wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy more attention!!
Love this video. You need to layer with these crayons.. they end up like a kinda paintish texture once they're layerd... you start lightly, without blending, just blocking in, then get heavier with the layers...they are beautiful. You self portrait is STUUUUUNING!! So gorge! Well freaking done mate...(I'm from Australia).
She send you an expensive gift there. Very nice of her.
I hope someone sends you Caran D'ache oil pastels to try... they are very good too. 👍
