DCS is that amazing game that makes me look at my massive amount of free time and say “nah I don’t have nearly enough time to play that”
Takes a lot of time to learn sadly but once you get one plane down, the learning curve lessens a lil bit

You don't have to learn actual communications, IFR, and AWACS declarations so it's way easier honestly. Some combat flight sims require the airport charts, IFF switching, and all that. Worth a try
It's not as daunting as you would think
It takes about the same amount of time as any other competitive games to get good. Simple games have flatter learning curves, so you *feel* like a badass sooner. DCS you gotta earn that feeling.

@@pulse3732 Eh them Pawnees n Hummings fly janky af. I mean like, just the way they move is eversoslightly unrealistic, it's like the way a small cheap rc chopper would do. Erratic or something. But that's basically partly what buttons do, but still like watching em choppers from the ground, it feels as if they were insanely fast and wild at doing things like landing or idk.

Gotta love these videos of Drewski's, they just show how capable they are together doing serious-ish co-operative gaming and still have so much fun and having these silly and fun moments that makes the videos so entertaining to watch.
Would love to see the cockpit door swing open and the gunner putting shots downrange with the rifle inside the cockpit.
Ikr lol that rifle makes you want to play Arma where you can use helis and rifles but then you remember that Arma helis are kinda unrealistic... (I mean it's not bad compared to non-flightsims but...)
@@hunormagyar1843 It depends on what flight model you are talking about. You have the basic one which is almost is not even a flight model. And the advanced one is actually somewhat decent, much better than most any other game that isnt a fully fledged flight sim.
In my head is that one scene from "who killed captain alex" where the guy shoots an AK out the apache's window

Ever do any time in Iraq around 04-05? I was on LSA anaconda and did MSR patrols in a HUMVEE and relyed many times on apaches to help me and my team. Really saved my ass a few times and it was quite a show!

I have played the VTOL VR two person helicopter with another person who was really experienced while I was the gunner still somewhat learning how it all functioned, and when your in combat you don’t have time to think about what the pilot is doing, you just have to trust them, and they just have to trust you back. It’s a great feeling of teamwork that I’m sure forms between real Apache operators
The Apache looks so realistic. I was an electrician for them during Desert Storm. 68Fx10
No joke, I've been working on some Airshow, including military. One day I end up in this section of shows with smaller exhibitors. This Swedish comapny had this enhanced aiming system for the Javelin. They had their system live, but without the round of course. I took a try when invited by the dude working on this booth. I started to just roll on the game lol. I was done. That guy was impressed, he asked me if I was in army or something. I replied : "no, sir. It's all Call Of Duty". Tbh, it was pretty much the same

For co-op rockets, the CPG lases the tgt and the pilot only needs to line up the I beam centered and fire. The laser tells the rocket pods how to angle to hit the target :)

This video was fantastic. I would love too see more Apache coop stuff from the two of you. You are the reason I got into DCS in the first place. Now your making me want to get a friend for COOP Apache.
Good stuff. I was a UH-60 mech/crewchief/TI in the Army for most of my 20 years, retiring in 2005 with about 2,500 flight hours. DCS release of the AH-64 and the Blackhawk user mod really is great for me, bringing back all the memories and enjoyment of my real life days. Sometimes I just create a mission of 4 Hawks or Apaches to just fly in formation, and it's almost like being there again. I can almost smell the slightly sweet smell of JP-8, and how the bleed air heat smelled. The Apache sounds especially are really amazing, not far off from a UH-60. Lot of similarity in those two aircraft, since they were designed around the same time and use the same engines. The only thing missing is feeling the actual G's when flying. The whole real life experience of serving in Army Aviation was a unique experience, hard, fun, filled with terrifying moments and elated moments. Doing low level at 80 knots on the tree tops was always a favorite thing of mine, and the recent addition of rotor wash effects on the grass and trees just adds so much more. I lost a few friends due to both training accidents and combat action over the years, a danger that is never far from any Army Aviators mind. Thanks for the videos, I really enjoy them.

I have no background in milsims or actually Military Aviation, but I really like how naturally a lot of these videos are. They are flying out, looking for targets, engaging them, being shot at. Looks like hella fun.
This just makes me appreciate Jane's Longbow 2 even more. It was years ahead of its time and in many respects is still unmatched even today.
from what I saw at the end of the video ,when your AH64 was hit ,,you were engaged by a tracked ,twin barrelled vehicle ...If you pause the vid at 16:53 you'll see the 1st couple of salvos inbound on your helo ,,, Nice teamwork btw !!!!

Drewski you gotta do more of these combined crew videos. Even tho it was kinda slow paced it was fantastic viewing! Haha it was like watching a movie with suspense and terror as those missiles locked or fired or just the threat.
I love your jet videos and I'm no big fan of heli's usually but this video was truelly a great watch.

This reminds me of the 90s when I played milsims for over 20 years. Janes longbow#,Falcon 4,EF2000,Mig Alley,Flying Corps,EAW,WW2 Fighters,IL-2,F22ADF/Total Air War etc bloody etc.
big difference back then; no mobile phones, cable tv was more tin can and string tv, dial-up internet (cost per minute) 3DFX was just hatching and the number ONE difference? Absolutely little distraction in life. It was slower and quality was paramount on PC.
I used to play Dungeon RPGs with graph paper drawing each and everyone of the levels due to there being no map that stayed. If you died on a level you had to start again.
The other thing I just thought about, steam was just out main stream with HL2, which the public hated! Never before did we have to connect to the ‘net to play a game’. Refunds were in the millions worldwide.
Nah, couldn’t ever go back to this. Life is hectic, fast and I’m now going on 60 this year and to hell with the HOTAS chair again!
Glad I go the T-Shirt when milsims were just coming out and in their prime. This days are well and truly gone.
For eg, this is DLC which would be an entire dynamic campaign of air and ground forces that had infinite replayability. Everything today is cash grabs and licenses.
Little bird in DCS would be great, but Little bird in Squad would be amazing.

@@hunormagyar1843 Each module developer puts little details. The JF-17 has working de-icing for the canopy, the Hind has a little fan and if you use VR controls you can stop the fan blades with your virtual finger.

At 8:08, TOW Literally means Tube-Launched, Optically Tracked, Wire-Guided, so once you'd destroyed the Tank and deviated from your original path the Missile would no longer have been a threat, it only could have hit you if you didn't move after it was heading straight for you, hitting you more by luck than anything else.
Yeah the missile went stupid once it was no longer receiving guidance from the tank that fired it. Although it wasn't literally a TOW missile. Russian tanks have anti-tank, gun-launched, missiles that are radio-guided. They literally fire the missile down the gun barrel as an ammo type.

Every time I get to watch DCS I just want to imagine...
Arma 4, squadlike mechanics (combat infantry and vehicles) + Arma mods (ACE, ACRE/TFAR...) and then having the detail in DCS modules, the scale and everything... that would be the definitive combat simulator sandbox...
Just by the scale its impossible but its free to wish.

I still find it insane how this technology really exists, to have essentially a flying weapon platform hitting insanely precise shots from so far away you can probably barely see the helicopter.

I'm pretty sure LMC is bugged in multicrew at the moment. It causes the hellfires to fly all over the place and not lock onto the laser.

@@Husker5454 we've tried it a few times and every time it was on, the hellfire acted weirdly and missed. Turned it off, and the hellfire was dead on accurate. I guess your mileage may vary.

If you want to have the HDU up without TADS video here's what someone on reddit told me.
Set the NVG mode to fixed, lower the brightness using the rocker on the TEDAC, then put NVG mode back to off.
I'll jump on your comment to add: select gunner helmet as acquisition source, TAD as sensor then slave. Should be able to laze as normal while slewing the gun with head movement.

Nah - it's not working in multiplayer multicrew yet. You can see the head move from external view, but not from inside the cockpit.

Running kilos how fars you need to block lock Target. It will hold for you then laser so when the pilot is drifting or evading you will hold Target and kilo will be on point. Nice ride!👊😎

For the head moving thing i think you can see the head moving in the mirrors which can be turned on by just pushing m. Fun fact the trigger on the gun to the right works along with the mode switcher on the gun.

Boys, AI tanks on both sides will fire on hovering Helos with ATGM or Main gun. Found this out the hard way while in a KA-50 shooting at a group of Abrams too close. You guys got a death wish flying that high up in the Apache, I hardly venture above 100ft. As usual cool video!
They're way too close, tbh. If they're going to engage tanks they should be at 7-10km. At that range the tanks don't "usually" shoot back.
It would be so cool if someone made this into a vtol vr mission and if nobody does i will try
