    It knocks like a bag of hammers. The late Fred Dibnah would never have tolerated it.
    It was built for poodling around with one wagon at a time in a cement works. The name is a famous brand of cement in the UK.

    • @TankEngine75

    When one designs machinery the intention is surely that the machine should render an improvement over the status quo and offer savings in cost or efficiency. Whoever designed this clearly had suffered a strange form of memory loss and forgotten that horses exist.

    • @Tom-Lahaye
      @Tom-Lahaye 4 года назад +4

      This thing isn't allowed on the line because it doesn't have a trough train brake, so will not run with a coach over the line, altough it is powerful enough to pull a coach or two.
      But the difficulty is in stopping those in an emergency or downhill!
      A coach weighs 35 tons, this loco has only a brake block on the driven wheel which has only a load of 5-6 tons on it.
      Instead, what they do, is offer brake van rides within station limits on a loop or siding, which is legal within the regulations.
      Brake van rides are done often to offer people a trip behind engines not allowed on or powerful enough for the line, and the brake van offers perfect opportunity to see and hear the engine in front working.
      This type of rail traction engine was offered as a cost effective alternative for a full size industrial loco for small industrial sidings where only a couple of wagons at a time needed to be shifted, it used less water and coal and was cheaper to buy.
