  • DIY Hydrogen gas-powered steam engine.
This was quickly put together to show the working principle of a steam engine running on hydrogen gas.
A steam engine can operate with any heat source if it is hot enough.
LPG, coal, and liquid fuels are the most common, but all produce carbon emissions.

Hey mate, great videos and experiments.
How about using a magnetron in place of the spark plug. Use and ultrasonic tranducer to vapourize the water before it reaches the combustion chamber. Change the spark timing to exactly top dead centre, and feed a higher power to the magnetron. When the water vapour reaches the combustion chamber, the magnetron may produce a mixture between hydrogen and super heated steam which should force the piston down very quickly. You may have to modify valve timing and have better piston rings for sealing, but it may be something looking into.

make a demonstration to see if generating electricity from the steam engine's power to charge a supercapacitor bank for electrolysis of water for hydrogen gas production can self run or how long it could run for??

alright mate you answered a comment about a hydrogen engine working inside a vacuum. there are a few more questions i have about that, kudos on the vid, gonna watch the rest of them. i got some great ideas maybe we could collab

Hi, thanks for the comment, any engine in theory would work in a vacuum if you directly inject fuel and oxygen into, would be pain to do though, and I don’t see a real world benefit.

Hi amazing video for 3 reasons. Hydrogen is being slept on 2. Everyone forgot about the steam engine. 3 i happen to have the same steam engine. But i do have 1 favor to ask. I have happen to have lost the piston and the sleeve. Is it possible to send me some dimensions on those two items. Please as mine is also a item that has been in my family for ages. I thinn i even have some of the tools that came with it somewhere. If its possible we can do this via email. Fyi im from south africa. I can send you the photos of my steam engine so you can see the parts i need. I want to vabricaye them again. Also South Africa has a major energy crisis on hand and has been on going for 20 years now. We have rolling blackouts for 20years now. Im doing some research of my own to solve it for individuals. Im looking in to running generators with hho or or just h and let the engine draw its own o2. But yes i willl still playe around with it. Please contact me in regards to the steam engine please it will mean alot. Also first time I've seen someone else withe the same engine. It also builds nice withe the old steel mechanos. Like legos but made from steel sheet... Sory for long comment 😅

Good job, I saw you called hydrogen engines in the video, are they pure hydrogen or HHO? Regarding the definition of HHO, I found some different opinions. Some say that HHO is a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen, while others say that HHO is a single gas composed of hydrogen atoms and oxygen atoms. I saw that Ohymasa gas in Japan completely liquefies at -179 degrees Celsius. , which seems to provide strong evidence for a single gas, so I think some HHOs are fake and some are real. The fake one is a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen, but the real one is a single component gas. what's your opinion about above agument.

Hi, I was say HHO is typically a mixture of the two gases as common electrolysis cells split the water into hydrogen and oxygen, these can be separated to give either pure hydrogen or oxygen, at -250 degrees these gasses would be come liquid.
I however don’t use HHO gas that much and use pure hydrogen in most of the videos unless otherwise stated in the description.
Pure hydrogen is safer and easier to work with.
      Hope this helps

How long is hydrogen engine last ? Wanna see inside combustion after some run.
Ia there any , hole inside the chamber ?

Hi, the engine will run for as long as there is gas and water in the boiler so hard to say really, the steam engine boiler would run out of water at 10 minutes or so. As for the gas supply it depends on how big the gas tank is.
There are no heat tubes in the boiler, just a very basic model steam engine, the operation is the exact same as a standard steam engine, the only difference is the fuel which is hydrogen.

@@Hydrogenguys i meant the Condition of the Engine it self. Of any Hydrogen Engine , how long it will last after usage, any effect caused of corrosion ? Or holes ?
      The Engine Durability ?
See if any holes inside the burning room of the engines ?
