Space Marine 2 is a story about a down-on-his-luck white guy, a young up-and-coming asian guy, and a disabled/amputee black guy, all finding brotherhood in struggling for what they all believe in. Their commitment to their shared ideals allows them to overcome great obstacles together, including initial mistrust; shared struggle renews their sense of unity and purpose, and in the end, their mutual respect grows and blossoms fully into a mature and secure understanding, an unshakable and pure faith in each other that cannot be compromised. A story like this will inevitably not land well with pseudoscience grifters and race realists and people who make their living off of insisting that "races" of people have fundamental differences, and that these differences are essential and immutable, and that there is no way to reconcile them. Listening to some of these hyperwoke people talk, there are times where it's indistinguishable from real, open racists I've met talking about segregation and stereotypes. Worth pointing out also that the white guy/asian guy/black guy team is devoid of stereotypes - Titus is a hollow man, knowing only duty as a marine should, but also knowing that his real duty as an ultramarine captain was taken from him, but being completely unable to voice this truth due to the world he lives in - a good character profile with some depth. Gadriel is rightly suspicious, but shows real character growth and has not a hint of any common asiatic behavioural stereotypes - he is a lover of battle and nourishes a rich hatred for xenos and heretics, but is also a stuffy, reserved, by-the-book kind of soldier...although this changes, in a very natural way, over the course of their time together. The same can be said of Chairon - not a stereotype in sight. He's a mission-first man, concerned with getting the job done with strength and honor, and he makes insightful commentary, always pointing out the thing you weren't thinking about, always with a different angle on something - he sure as hell doesn't use AAVE or act in some kind of stereotyped african-american way that would not only be tasteless and vaguely racist, but also be completely inappropriate for the warhammer universe. how many of these woke idiot developers would have tried to make chairon "gangster"? ugh.

Most normal people play games to escape the real world. We don't like it when people try to shove world issues into our fun, at the expense of story/gameplay. You can have strong female characters without packing it as an agenda piece. Look at Elden Ring. The most powerful characters are female or androgenous(Marika, Ranni, Fia), including one of the most challenging bosses ever to grace gaming: "I am Malenia, blade of Miquella; and I have never known defeat."). The main character of the DLC is an androgenous(trans?) male, Miquella.

I have always found the word they use very odd 'MORALS' In a game, do you have such a thing? Think of it this way, when you're playing a game, do you even hesitate to shoot the limbs off a person or monster? One of the worst things you can do in real life is murder someone mercilessly in cold blood, yet in games we do it constantly, and if not just once, most kill hundreds if not thousands of people, monsters and aliens daily. Gaming is not about morals, it is about the gameplay loops and the thrill of how you are able to achieve your goal/mission.

But tech becomes more rare and precious by the hour, and should be preserved where possible. All in all, an amazing game in my opinion XD

Their commitment to their shared ideals allows them to overcome great obstacles together, including initial mistrust; shared struggle renews their sense of unity and purpose, and in the end, their mutual respect grows and blossoms fully into a mature and secure understanding, an unshakable and pure faith in each other that cannot be compromised.
A story like this will inevitably not land well with pseudoscience grifters and race realists and people who make their living off of insisting that "races" of people have fundamental differences, and that these differences are essential and immutable, and that there is no way to reconcile them. Listening to some of these hyperwoke people talk, there are times where it's indistinguishable from real, open racists I've met talking about segregation and stereotypes. Worth pointing out also that the white guy/asian guy/black guy team is devoid of stereotypes - Titus is a hollow man, knowing only duty as a marine should, but also knowing that his real duty as an ultramarine captain was taken from him, but being completely unable to voice this truth due to the world he lives in - a good character profile with some depth. Gadriel is rightly suspicious, but shows real character growth and has not a hint of any common asiatic behavioural stereotypes - he is a lover of battle and nourishes a rich hatred for xenos and heretics, but is also a stuffy, reserved, by-the-book kind of soldier...although this changes, in a very natural way, over the course of their time together. The same can be said of Chairon - not a stereotype in sight. He's a mission-first man, concerned with getting the job done with strength and honor, and he makes insightful commentary, always pointing out the thing you weren't thinking about, always with a different angle on something - he sure as hell doesn't use AAVE or act in some kind of stereotyped african-american way that would not only be tasteless and vaguely racist, but also be completely inappropriate for the warhammer universe. how many of these woke idiot developers would have tried to make chairon "gangster"? ugh.

Most normal people play games to escape the real world. We don't like it when people try to shove world issues into our fun, at the expense of story/gameplay. You can have strong female characters without packing it as an agenda piece. Look at Elden Ring. The most powerful characters are female or androgenous(Marika, Ranni, Fia), including one of the most challenging bosses ever to grace gaming: "I am Malenia, blade of Miquella; and I have never known defeat."). The main character of the DLC is an androgenous(trans?) male, Miquella.

I have always found the word they use very odd 'MORALS' In a game, do you have such a thing? Think of it this way, when you're playing a game, do you even hesitate to shoot the limbs off a person or monster? One of the worst things you can do in real life is murder someone mercilessly in cold blood, yet in games we do it constantly, and if not just once, most kill hundreds if not thousands of people, monsters and aliens daily. Gaming is not about morals, it is about the gameplay loops and the thrill of how you are able to achieve your goal/mission.
Well, it depend on the game isn't it ? If it's a shooter, there isn't really morals (except mass effect, but it's not really a pure shooter). If you take rogue trader, in the same universe than space marines 2 there is. All choices are valids, but even the "good" one is... Let's say the main color is grey in this game ^^

I still remember sitting for several minutes contemplating what I should save from the first world you work with during the effective tutorial, the good guy in me wanted to save the civilians because that’s what one would try to do, atleast I would hope, irl. But I chose the technology in the end, because in 40k, that’s what’s more important. Billons of humans die by the solar day in that universe. But tech becomes more rare and precious by the hour, and should be preserved where possible.
All in all, an amazing game in my opinion XD

If they had introduced female custodes in a more lore friendly way, y’know perhaps needing to expand the recruiting pool due to the sudden tempo of operations increase leading to increased attrition, and didn’t focus on the fact the custodes was female, keeping the armor gender neutral, having the voices be close with only slight variance caused by the differing genders, and keep their skills and general attitude more or less the same? Yeah I could imagine that.
