Henry doesn’t deserve this. He’s was born in the wrong era or is the last of his breed, because he’s such a good, faithful actor and everything he likes dies.
I'm glad to know that the Warhammer show won't happen, because it's Amazon and they're a bunch of arrogant incompetents who think they're better and smarter than the people who created the original material that they just had to adapt identically for a show, but they're incapable of doing that, just look at Rings of Power, that shit isn't the Lord of the Rings, it's not Tolkien's work, that's a bastardization of the work of art that are Tolkien's books. and the Warhammer show will be destroyed by Amazon, they already forced GW to put female Custodes in their media and they kept forcing them to put all that activist and woke shit in everything.
Thanks Amazon for not creating a shop simply because you can’t agree on DEI. So glad companies are starting to abandon all the DEI bullshit. Just make good movies the way they are depicted in the already written lore.
I want to see a over 100 million budget cgi Warhammer movie. No ideological agendas slipped in there, just focused on making a good story and entertaining movie in the Warhammer universe.
I totally agree with you about the potential for an animated series. These people are obviously incapable of producing live action projects without needless red tape/bloat and ideological injection.
10:10 its worth noting that tim willits is reviled within the doom community for being a slimy liar. his only claim to fame was a handful of mediocre maps; he repeatedly sabotaged his friends and coworkers at id to get ahead (sandy peterson called him "a snake"). he aggrandizes himself as the inventor of multiplayer maps - a claim that is demonstrably false. for what its worth, john romero correctly cites the doom modding community and publicly refutes this lie, but thats not really relevant willits is now at saber because, years ago, id software contracted them to make quake champions (which saber *ruined,* by the way, a technical catastrophe worse than their work on the master chief collection) and he schmoozed his way into another position of power that he doesnt deserve due to that preexisting working relationship between the two companies. im not saying his quote here is *wrong...* but he is making these statements about publishing now because he sees which way the wind is blowing, and because it will benefit him - not because he has grounded convictions about gameplay or valuing the community at large.
If Amazon would have just said no to buffoonery from the start, they would have never be in the position now where they have to worry about taking risks with a Space Marine TV show.
20:07 until the halo guys go back to merit based I don’t expect anything good. I always get the feeling none of these people played the original trilogy.
Do need someone to rein them in a little though, especially Mike Brooks saying Orks are transformers and ADB being pro-femstodes. They aren't immune to the message.
Bro, this is wild that they dont have Ideas. I have so many warhammer live action spec scripts written that I just made for fun. Genestealer cult story (100% lore accurate) Adeptus Sororitas and deathwatch story about discovering the Tau. (60% lore accurate) Fall of Cadia (80% lore accurate) All one series, 1-3 episodes per story. With them all coming together in the fall of Cadia story. Still have room for an Astartes story to glue the conclusion together.
For now. There is a ton on the horizon that I'm worried about. I'd be fine with female Emperor's Children, like if Fabulous Bill gave his female haemonculi creations geneseed and turned them into the EC version of Eightbound. But GW supposedly has a development cycle of 3 years for minis and lore, so we may have to weather a few years of woke nonsense.
They should give Warhammer 40K the Beowulf treatment. Not cartoon, not live action, and still doing MoCap work with the actual actors and their likeness. Best of both worlds.
I've been calling out massive budgets forever. They're unnecessary. Spider-Man 2018 should have been the absolute highest...but no, the sequel somehow pours way more into it and I don't see it...AND it was awful due to wokeness. The first? One of my favorite games...the 2nd? I quit without finishing because it was a vomit inducing set of characters and story. Same with The Last of Us. It's like when GTA5 cost 500 million to make, everyone decided that was what we want. No, how about dropping open world in every damn game that obviously doesn't need it.
It's nice to see this Willits guy parrot what I've been saying for the last 5 years: iteration > innovation. Innovation is so unimportant but has been such a "requirement" lately that some gamers are even saying that games need to completely change their formula to even have a reason to exist with is just insane. This "innovation first and above all else" mentality is one the things that's been ruining a lot of games. Remember what Zelda used to be like? Semi linear puzzle game, now it's some mmoified wow clone >
If the lore is not going to be respected, then why bother with the show better for it to die rather than be a blight on the Warhammer legacy thrown out there just to promote ideological garbage
up the difficulty its kinds good but hordes of tyranids mode with a fat payout for getting to the highest round and dying in process would make a fun experience

I really appreciate you pointing out the financial impact of SM2's 2,000,000 units vs SWO's 1,000,000 units and how those figures relate to their respective budgets. The ROI is what matters, and I could see the opposition trying to use units shipped as an argument. Congrats to Saber! SM2 is a great game, and I just hope it doesn't take another 10 years to get a sequel.
@@JoshObie I'd love a SM3, but I wish they'd take the chance to explore different forces of the Imperium. I'd jump at the chance to play as a Sister of Battle.
@@transient_moonlight Specifically a Canoness would lend itself very well to SM kind of gameplay. You could incorporate little miracles happening around her too. Imagine the Triumph depicted in a video game? The issue is that SOB are the most evil of the Imperium factions. Their use of penitent engines, arco-flagellants, the fact that they are Black Templars/Word Bearers level religious zealots etc. I think because they are women they'd get defanged because god forbid you portray any female characters as flawed.
@@Bonesawisready926 They are the most evil for the reasons you pointed out, but they can also shine the brightest--both narratively and literally. Literally in that they're a force of warrior women who come in at the darkest times, and have such a strong belief and deterimantion that they can restore morale and hope to other humans and materialize miracles. It also helps that they're among the most qualified women in the Imperium, as they're all recruited from an insanely high standard school with a Latin sounding name that I can't remember. Narratively, because their extreme zealotry shows that when you're surrounded by such darkness, when the promises of understanding and science and progress have failed you, as a human you need to hold onto something beyond humanity. Not that drawing strength from faith is a problem (definitely not), it's that when faith becomes the sole support and light in your life, your survival systems eventually end up crumbling. The SoB can showcase the kind of lows faith in the face of desperation can create, but also the heights of heroism it can push you to. And also, how easy it makes for other people to manipulate you, when you just can't help but make an abstract ideology outside of humanity the stepping stone for your whole life. The sisters of battle can be interpreted in a light that even wokies might like. The first SoB were manipulated into servitude by some deranged archpriest (whose name I can't recall--sorry), who managed to simulate a miracle from the Emperor by using a Iron Halo, and tricked them into becoming his bodyguards. Their faith made them think he was the Emperor's mouthpiece, but when they recognized the foul play (thanks to a confrontation with the Custodes), they were among the main players in his downfall. Basically, the sisters' heart is "in the right place": not in our common sense, but in the sense that they truly believe in the goodness of what they're doing. They have to, because believing anything else but the goodness of their faith, the only thing they rely on to stave off the darkness, is equal to accepting death. And that's their weakness, and what makes their "light" exploitable--I think the whole idea of sisters repentia and pain engines was born of that: a form of control. TL;DR: I think you can incorporate the darker aspects of the SoB without making them seem villainous, because they rely on faith as the only thing to stave off the darkness, and this can make them easy to manipulate and control, as long as you frame the narrative from a perspective of faith.
@@transient_moonlight I think that could be a fun game too. Honestly, anything in this universe as long as you show just how imposing the Imperium forces are on the battlefield has my attention. I really enjoyed Mechanicus because it was a departure from the space marines.
I think what games devs should do if they wanna appeal to a wider audience is adding mult game play types, and what I mean is what SE did for the FF7 remakes where you have the new free roam hack and slash for combat or you can switch to turn based if that's what you prefer. This would make it more appealing to players like me who are usually turned off by turn based combat games, but would like to engage in the games story
Some people said that they played Space Marine but didn't like it, that its bad, boring etc and can't understand why people like it. My answer was simply "Its just not a game for you". Some people don't understand that not everything is something for them. The bloat of games is a problem that comes from people, who always cry that 60-70€ games are to expensive for an 8-15 hour single player experience. I saw a lot of comments over the years that games worth that price must have a length from 60-100 hours. The Ubi-bloat
I really don't care about Warhammer. But I'm glad another IP is not about to be turned to 💩. I wish I could say I was surprised that Amazon and Games Workshop would pass on the obvious win of Henry Cavill and a faithful adaptation and try to make it for the nonexistent 'modern audience™'.
As someone who does care, this news makes me so happy if true. I've seen the message destroy every other IP it touches and 40K is the one I've invested the most money in and love the most so I'm happy to see it stay alive a bit longer. Honestly, if GW has to put the message in something, just put it in AOS and leave 40K alone.
My major issue with media such as AC shadows is this is LEGITIMATE cultural appropriation, and almost no one is covering it. Everything is forced and nothing feels authentic or natural.
Final Fantasy, and to a greater extent, Square Enix, are in dire straits right now. They're leaving XIV on life support, so Dawntrail was abysmal, and none of the games they're making with XIV's money are even really worth playing.
_Good on Saber Interactive for sticking to giving customers a fun gaming experience based on the popularity of the franchise. Not many out here are willing to do that without troubles._
They can easily do an animated show with Henry voicing a key character and still use an art style that is much more realistic for the human characters and give that grim dark vibe. The potential for animation is literally infinite, it makes you like gods that can pull of basically anything outside the limitations of live action that's being blended with CGI. The issue with CGI is how it clashes with real life so it looks out of place, compared to practical effects, but if it's all animated it's all in the same artistic medium. That way there's no need to make compromises to ensure things mesh well together.
if i was going to do a 40K show i wouldn't start off with the SPACE MARINEEEEEEE, (although that is what every fan would want to see) i'd probably start off something small get people who aren't into 40k interested so maybe: the inquisition investigating a planet for something that ends up with the last episode a space marine helping out at the climax? Or maybe just a day to day life of a regular imperium guard? To the drill training, the constant battle, and his best friend getting shot in the back of his head from a commissar for faltering from all the stress, and trauma. Watching how he deals with it all just to end up dying needlessly on the last episode to the Xenos
If it were up to me I'd start with an anthology introducing all the factions in the universe and just connect the episodes. Just have it be called "Octarius" after the Octarius sector where literally every faction has a presence.
IMO FF7 Rebirth and XVI didn’t really perform poorly, they were just only released on one system. They’ll obviously be doing better when they’re on Steam (I know XVI is now).
“Everything woke turns to shit” instead of chasing unicorns space marines would easily be their saving grace But nooooooo dedicate all your resources to rings of cringe, gotta meet that DEI quota which WILL NOT MAKE THEM ANYTHING IN RETURN🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Games Workshop makes enough money to do their own live action. I don't know why in the heck they wanted to partner with amazon. They knew how Woke amazon was. I mean did you see rings of power. that shit show should have told them it wasn't a good idea. they should partner with the people who make these low budget cgi films on youtube. that's really all you need.
Honestly going animated is the best option if you ask me as we have already seen just how life like some animations can be if they want to take it that far
I like the idea of having the whole animated series warhammer stuff and I’m not to big on tab idea of having a live action series because… look how the halo tv show turned out
They should honestly do either the cgi from space marine 2 or from the official trailers and then either use face capturing to add in the faces of the actors or just use them for Synchronisation.
At this point, I think many TV executives are hesitant to commit to an expensive property like Warhammer. Because wokeness aside, the entertainment industry has forgotten how to make something at a reasonable budget. Why does the Acolyte cost $200M? Rings of Power a billion? Even if these shows were good, there is zero chance they can turn a profit. And given that the industry is overrun with woke incompetent people, you have no idea what you will get out of your investment. Same with the gaming industry, why are games costing $200M+? I think we just need a period of low budget, cost conscious projects to squeeze out the incompetent people. There should be no budget for the Sweet Baby type of people.
My heart sank the moment I saw Melissa Boone, and the other 2. It was the moment I truly accepted that the Halo is dead, and that the devs are going to have to play their new game themselves.
3:20 why are they worried about how pricey a movie/series/game is to make? Hasn't literally hundreds of millions of dollars been sunk into failed products already, just within the last few years, even? Now suddenly they're worried about how much it will cost? 😂
I don't think I could respect Henry Cavill more than if he chooses to walk away from all that Amazon money rather than take the money and make an inauthentic 40K series.
Always wait for trustworthy reviews from honest reviewers before buying any game. Any whiff of the stench of wokeness is an automatic avoid! Thanks for letting us know and keeping us updated!
A live action version of the Warhammer 40k *universe* would definitely be too big for anyone to pull off very effectively. Amazon might've been able to do it, but after what they did to $1b with "The Rangs of Powah," I really do NOT want them going anywhere NEAR WH40K. However, a live action episodic version of "Space Hulk," where it's a small squad of Space Marines in a claustrophobic series of tunnels & chambers on a drifting Hulk, would absolutely be doable at a level that wouldn't break the bank, and appeal to horror fans as well as us hard-core Warhammer boys. A single stage can be reused over and over, with some CGI thrown in for vistas of space or other fantastical backdrops against which the blood can splatter and the chainswords roar. Edit: Heck, it could even have some Guardsmen led by a Commissar as the regulars, with occasional Space Marines thrown in to really spice things up. Gaunt's Ghosts In Space. Not everything has to be "Avengers: Endgame" level of universal threat to make it to the silver screen, let alone a streaming service.
That would be awesome. Just a miniseries with 5 Blood Angel terminators trying to retrieve an STC from a space hulk would work really well. You could have abandoned Genestealers, some Daemons, rogue alien tech, the rak'gol if you wanna really get in the weeds of the lore. And on top of that they could show off the effects of the Red Thirst and the Black Rage in an isolated environment. It would be even cheaper animated as well. We don't have to see the third war for Armageddon in every single episode, smaller stories would be awesome.
I completely agree after the RoP disaster and Starwars dead. Henry hands Jeff the a multi Billion Dollar option and Amozon answer "No it will be fine". Name ONE Amozon Movie or game Mega success... Exactly
River City Girls 2 was almost *identical* to the first game gameplay wise, & even used the same map for the most part; all Wayforward, the only *other* based western game studio I know of, did to make it different was give us a *slightly* different story, & some new characters to fight both as, & against. But that was enough for me to play & enjoy it after having played the first game. An even *better* example would be Super Mario Galaxy 2; except for Yoshi & a few new power-ups, the gameplay mechanics were *exactly* the same as the original, but it was still a game I enjoyed, a *lot* . The Shantae games, with the exception of Half-Genie Hero, all follow the exact same formula; but each one's still an enjoyable experience. You're absolutely right, you don't *have* to reinvent the wheel with every new game; the game just needs to be *fun* . Which's exactly why woke shit *always* fails; it's focused on pushing the literally *evil* ideology of wokeism instead of on fun because it considers literally *everything* fun to be "problematic" in some bullshit way. Vote with your *wallet* , & support based games that actually *respect* you.

Rings of Power is awful, but what Amazon did to Wheel of Time is criminally worse.
100%
That show was a fucking abomination on a criminal level.
I think Gennedy Tartatovsky, the creator of Samurai Jack, Clone wars 2003 and Primal, would be a perfect fit for an animated Warhammer 40k series.
Ohh yeah, Gennedy is definitely one of the best animators of adult animation out there so Warhammer 40k animated series done by him would be amazing.
You know what's really funny?
If you watch that interview of Halo Studios, there is one quote in there that really stands out. at 1:50 of that interview they say "It's not a game, it's a research project".
I don't want to buy your research project on how much DEI you can inject and get away.
Old style animation from 80-90s from Japan with all the grit would be nice
Fist of the Northstar type anime for 40K would be amazing.
This
@@Bonesawisready926 i would drop money for that box set
its called Hammer and Bolter
Vaas Montenegro would be happy because he found the true definition of Insanity which is Ubisoft.
Amazon probably just trying to get Henry out of the way so they can make their own bastardized version without him.
I hear that the guy who made the Astartes animation has left the company.
Wouldn’t surprise me
Did they even let him make anything? All they did was make him remove his amazing shorts and then hide him from the world right when he was gaining a massive following, it feels like.
@@Neonagi it seems 'hiring' him was just a means of crushing the project in a way that let them avoid backlash.
@@Neonagi He might have done the Horus Heresy 3rd edition reveal trailer, but that's about it.
Bro Im cheering at the show being cancelled, cavill stood his ground and amazon and gw couldnt do shit sounds like, Im proud of cavill and am glad its gone if it cant be made with his image in mind
Better it dies in the flames of ambition than be corrupted by chaos.
I'd rather it be dead than WOKE.
Henry doesn’t deserve this. He’s was born in the wrong era or is the last of his breed, because he’s such a good, faithful actor and everything he likes dies.
The problem is that the 2 of the most soulless and spineless companies right now are trying to do something with a soul, it simply can't happen.
100%
Man I love your coverage of games news! Thanks for bringing light to all the BS going on in the industry.
You should thank cavil not Amazon. Amazon is the reason why GW made female castodies
Love that proposal. Breaking it up episodically like Star Wars the Clone Wars show
I think animated is the way to go. Cheaper in the long run & far easier to depict things
10:10 its worth noting that tim willits is reviled within the doom community for being a slimy liar. his only claim to fame was a handful of mediocre maps; he repeatedly sabotaged his friends and coworkers at id to get ahead (sandy peterson called him "a snake"). he aggrandizes himself as the inventor of multiplayer maps - a claim that is demonstrably false. for what its worth, john romero correctly cites the doom modding community and publicly refutes this lie, but thats not really relevant
willits is now at saber because, years ago, id software contracted them to make quake champions (which saber *ruined,* by the way, a technical catastrophe worse than their work on the master chief collection) and he schmoozed his way into another position of power that he doesnt deserve due to that preexisting working relationship between the two companies.
im not saying his quote here is *wrong...* but he is making these statements about publishing now because he sees which way the wind is blowing, and because it will benefit him - not because he has grounded convictions about gameplay or valuing the community at large.
Go Space Marines! For the Emperor!
If Amazon would have just said no to buffoonery from the start, they would have never be in the position now where they have to worry about taking risks with a Space Marine TV show.
Keep up with the amazing journalism, Endymion! Great work!
20:07 until the halo guys go back to merit based I don’t expect anything good. I always get the feeling none of these people played the original trilogy.
Allowing GW authors to work together on a script would be more successful than amazon writers who are truly garbage
Do need someone to rein them in a little though, especially Mike Brooks saying Orks are transformers and ADB being pro-femstodes. They aren't immune to the message.
Cavill: "I'm putting together a crew."
Dan Abnett/Gav Thorpe: "You son of a bitch, I'm in."
You never fail to surprise us!
Saber CEO: Give *Old Gaming* a chance!
Bro, this is wild that they dont have Ideas. I have so many warhammer live action spec scripts written that I just made for fun.
Genestealer cult story (100% lore accurate)
Adeptus Sororitas and deathwatch story about discovering the Tau. (60% lore accurate)
Fall of Cadia (80% lore accurate)
All one series, 1-3 episodes per story. With them all coming together in the fall of Cadia story.
Still have room for an Astartes story to glue the conclusion together.
They’ve already done animated Warhammer animation, they had a whole channel of it.
the core idea comes from sega itself not ryu studios alone . "Reuse everything" and sometimes way too much
The black library authors can absolutely write screenplays
All things considered, we Warhammer 40k fans have dogged a bullet.
Hoard mode in Space Marine 2 would be so sick!
up the difficulty its kinds good but hordes of tyranids mode with a fat payout for getting to the highest round and dying in process would make a fun experience
Emperor found heresy in Games Workshop cancelling Warhammer 40K series starring Henry Cavill.
343 has ruined halo. 343 is one of the worst game devs of all time 10 years when the mcc launched and it was a broken mess a 343 dev called halo fans entitled, and other stuff such as they fired a employee for saying fire 343 on social media before he was on his first day of his job.
Man is it really worth losing money by wanting to push "THE MESSAGE" that much!?
Let's just say, this here is just.. 'distraction' for people to talk about.
As a long time 40K tabletop fan, good, I'll be happy as heck if that show gets cancelled. Don't bring that woke trash into 40K, we have enough problems with GW being an awful company.
Amazon: "Wait.... if we make it woke it will flop like ROP? Then we dont wanna do it. DEI for life!"
They purposely hired Henry Cavil to kill that series. They knew that he will never bend the knee.
They bit off more than they could chew
Final Fantasy, and to a greater extent, Square Enix, are in dire straits right now. They're leaving XIV on life support, so Dawntrail was abysmal, and none of the games they're making with XIV's money are even really worth playing.
_Good on Saber Interactive for sticking to giving customers a fun gaming experience based on the popularity of the franchise. Not many out here are willing to do that without troubles._
$1000 that the Amazon game show they will do everything warhammer fans don’t want in the episode
Didn't that show have a Concord episode too? lol.
@@Bonesawisready926 yep
“Everything woke turns to shit” instead of chasing unicorns space marines would easily be their saving grace
But nooooooo dedicate all your resources to rings of cringe, gotta meet that DEI quota which WILL NOT MAKE THEM ANYTHING IN RETURN🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
I like how Tim Willits said "F*ck woke" without saying "F*ck woke"
I have zero hope for Halo also. Halo 4 was the only decent game 343 has put out. Been a downward spiral since
The worse thing a company can do is go public cause you'll never know who's really buying most of your shares and no one should have that much power.
40K should just be animated. It worked for Arcane just fine. The more I think about it, live action primarchs would be very goofy.
Because WH40000 needs huge amount of money for CGI
the animation in Invincible was ATROCIOUS. WE DO NOT WANT A CRAPPY WESTERN FAKE ANIME.
Wokeness/DEI ruins EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!
Honestly going animated is the best option if you ask me as we have already seen just how life like some animations can be if they want to take it that far
better dead than red
For the younglings: red is symbolic to communists
You all know where to spend your money and which entertainment to consume. Stay based, Space Marines.
Way to go SM dev!
Hell yeah
@20:58 - does anybody else want to rejoice with me that these people are making KOTOR Remake!!! 👌
Blizzard maybe greedy AF but at least D4 still has m/f character selection lol
A game for everyone is a game for no-one
Saber Interactive was the studio who made "Tomb Raider Remastered" under the Aspyr umbrella
My heart sank the moment I saw Melissa Boone, and the other 2. It was the moment I truly accepted that the Halo is dead, and that the devs are going to have to play their new game themselves.
Endy keeps cooking with these videos
3:20 why are they worried about how pricey a movie/series/game is to make? Hasn't literally hundreds of millions of dollars been sunk into failed products already, just within the last few years, even? Now suddenly they're worried about how much it will cost? 😂
I don't think I could respect Henry Cavill more than if he chooses to walk away from all that Amazon money rather than take the money and make an inauthentic 40K series.
Always wait for trustworthy reviews from honest reviewers before buying any game. Any whiff of the stench of wokeness is an automatic avoid! Thanks for letting us know and keeping us updated!
they don't want to do, because henry won't budge
I love how you always have these out in the morning right when I wake up. It's like my daily morning news
Henry Cavill should try to fund his own projects. He’s constantly shafted by the system for wanting to stick to source
Exactly
Man, Henry needs to catch a break
Q: Do you want money?
If so, let Cavill run the show and watch money chart go up.
Tim Willits sounds like a beast.
Good I HOPE Amazon doesn't get the chance to bastardize 40K.
