  • Jelly Roll has crashed into the Nashville scene with his heartfelt, emotional ballads that come from a place of pain and struggle. One of the more notable, beautiful stories of redemption in our generation. Keilani and James take a listen to "Son of a Sinner" and offer their observations, personal perspectives and appreciation.
Give it a viewing and be sure to tell us your thoughts in the comments. Also give us recommendations of other songs you'd like to see us react to.

Jelly calls his music THERAPEUTIC MUSIC and he's so right. His songs touch the souls of the lost and broken.

the bit that kills me in this song is the "Talk to god and tell him what i think, at first he's gonna hate me, but eventually he'll save me" I dont know why that line hits so hard but it does for me.

You should watch Jelly Roll on the congressional hearing on fentanyl. It's probably not good for a reaction, but his story is amazing. It's worth watching it in your free time.

I feel like he's talking about everyone. Most people are going through something, and while it may not seem as devastating compared to your own issues, the things that one person struggles with may not be an issue for another. I had heard this song on the radio before, but I wasn't familiar with the artist. I saw your video on Save Me right before this one, and it has helped me find another country artist to add to my long list of favorite country artists.

This song can really sum up my life. My pops was really an addict when i was small so my mom told him to split. He stayed in my life and sobered up eventually. This song helps me at work enough that I'm training my new manager. I just wanna have fun with my dog, not sure i should raise a kid.

Next listen to Enemy.. the war and constant battle that’s the internal bloodshed that rips one apart.. it’s so hard to battle yourself something you can’t physically and to look in the mirror is the hardest struggle you go thru..

So I had found the core reason why things are stressful with Mom with my therapist the other day. The next day as I was pouring honey roasted peanuts into the lid, I could help but think of it as alcohol. I knew I was trying to numb the pain further.

You’re right that no one voluntarily wants an addiction. We are in control of our actions though and emotional pain often has us humans turning to something to distract (video games, scrolling, shopping all in excess) or numb (substance abuse etc). There is no blame nor any excuses in my sentiment, it’s an explanation of how uncomfortable emotions lead to a reason to want to hide, this pattern often becomes a form of addiction when repeated and habitual.

Sticking with Jelly Roll, but more of the "hick hop"/rap side... "Bottle and Mary Jane"", "Same Asshole" and "Creature"... and if you do concerts, you really should see him live. His "Beautifully Broken" tour is starting soon.
