Many people judge people with face tattoos; unfortunately. Jelly Roll recently testified in front of a Senate hearing regarding the Fentanyl crisis. He was very articulate and well spoken. He also did not hide his past during his testimony.

My cousin was a huge jelly roll fan before jelly roll was famous. My cousin was a huge alcoholic and passed away from alcohol poisoning at like 38 years old. He played jelly roll at his funeral 5 years ago. When this song came out, all I could hear was my cousins name. Jelly is singing about my cousin. The family wouldn't answer the phone because he was always drunk when he would call. I knew he felt alone, and that's why he drank. I wrote a message to him, letting him know we failed him as a family. We were surrounding him as he passed, but it was too late. Even though we were there in the end, we weren't there when he really needed us. This song will always hit me hard.
    I love you Brian.

That's the thing right there if all of us counted on everyone else to decide who's best for us we'd be miserable some times we find one that through all the trash talked we have to walk through, the lessons that life has taught me is that most come from a place of good intent but you know what they say the road to hell was paved with good intent and unless they're willing to walk through and live that life for you, how can they expect you to. People struggle loyalty is hard to find if you have that hey you've got a foundation that's real.

People who suffer like this are usually very empathetic. They understand the pain and hurt in our lives. They are tremendously talented at helping others but so poor at helping themselves. I speak from the experience of being empathetic and fighting depression. I pushed those that loved me away in the past and also treated them so poorly. I've been lucky to have someone who came into my life to help me with health issues. She taught me to love myself again. I appreciate and love her to the moon and back for making me want to live again. I can never love her enough for literally saving my life!

This song touched my heart. My daughter was in two car accidents. She got addicted to drugs and then onto alcohol. I tried for 25 years to get her to agree to seek help. She was living in very abusive relationships. I adopted her son at the age of 3. He died in a car accident when he turned 18 on the 4th of July. Her boyfriend died suddenly in April of 2023. He had tried to burn her out of a 15 acre Wood lot. I was driving like crazy to get to her. She was all bloody when she came out of the woods. He had hit her like a man and broke her dentures. Drove the teeth right into her gums. He left his fingerprints on her neck. He shot up her car. Slashed the tires. Ripped the wires out of the engine. After he died her health continued to deteriorate. The care that she needed was 2 hours away. She lived rural and I had to drive another hour to go pick her up. After 25 years she lost her battle. She suffered 2 heart attacks and I had to make the decision to let her die peacefully. So painful! I heard Jellyrolls song on my way home. The words hit me so hard. Tears were flowing in buckets. It described her life. She drank to cope.😢

faarrrrk that shit almost made me cry. Just reminded me of a moment in my life when I was in a low already then, my daughter come home from school and said in an excited voice "Dad, I have to do an essay on dreams. What were your dreams at my age?" I looked at her blankly well my mind processed the thought of whether to lie or tell the truth as not wanting to destroy her world. However, I knew our relationship was built on truth and I knew that's what she respected about me over her mother because her mother is a compulsive liar. I then looked in her eyes and said (as I started to cry) "I want you to have dreams and I want to chase them with all your heart. I hope you succeed in your dreams but as for me the world has been tough on me and beat me down to the point where it's squashed my dreams, now I just live to help you achieve your dreams." She just hugged me for a solid minute in silence and then said. "It's ok you still have time to have dreams of your own" It's a hard day when you're supposed to be your child's rock and then you both realize that really, they are your rock.

So sorry to hear Sandra. Condolences !!! You shouldn't have to deal with this type of pain. Sadly it's very common this day and age. Just keep talking about your daughter and telling her story. Maybe her story along with this song, and if you have not listened to Jelly Roll's song called "SHE", Her story along with music has healing power. Heal others while keeping your daughter's memory alive. She was a human and life taken to soon, I'm assuming to addiction. Once again, so sorry.

This song hits me as he rips the mask off, he is so vulnerable which is so hard. I dont think there is a person on the planet that hasnt felt this kind of despair at some point in in time. To see this reflection of him at this low and how he has preserved his humble real person saying, this was me, i pulled myself up i found me and you can too.

speaking from the point of view of someone that used various substances to self medicate for over ten years leading to multiple arresets and eventual prison time, this song deeply reflects the state of mind i was in at that time. i numbed myself with alcohol and stimulated myself with other things when i wanted to feel kept everyone at arms length to the point of self destruction. the first time i heard this song was after i was released from folsom state prison, and it made me break down in tears. and now im ten years sober turning my life around, thanks jelly roll for helping people like me open up and start to heal

What most miss about this song is that most likely he wrote that right after his amazing wife saved him because I guarantee that he didn't see himself as anything more than a burden to everyone around him and he was confused in this song as how anyone could see him as anything other than a burden

Another beautiful thing about Jelly Roll is his unwavering commitment to his family and pushing them to fight for their dreams as well. I went to a Shinedown concert a couple of years ago where he was also performing, and he asked the crowd permission and had his family come on stage and introduced them and let his daughter sing a song that she had also written. He really is an amazing human being!!!

There he performed a song with his daughter on stage that they wrote together and I feel you should react to it if you have not already.
