Hey, guys, thanks so much for reacting! My take on the "pedal" is that he is the actual pedal (on his Ford truck), because he's accelerating forward and leaving his past behind. That's what I got from it. There is a great line in the beginning about "I never get lonely, I got these ghosts to keep me company, I took the rearview off of this old Ford, So I only see in front of me." I think he's continuing with that theme/metaphor. That's my analysis. Anyway, I love that you took the time to listen to some country again!!!! BTW newsflash I don't always love country music either, believe it or not, but I do love storytelling, so I gravitate towards that at times. And Jelly Roll is special with that great big voice of his.
Thanks for the great recommendation, Dani. We love your interpretation of the lyrics - makes perfect sense!! Hard to piece all this together on the first listen, especially with a good video, so thanks for helping us "get it"!!! BIG hugs, friend!!
I think whether you see hope or apathy will completely depend on how far into your recovery process you are. If you're further in, it will be hopeful, but if you're at the very beginning then it can seem impossible to leave it all behind.
Just my two cents. Before the pedal to the highway, lyric he sang I am just a long haired son of a sinner Looking For A New Ways I Can Get Gone. Then comes the pedal lyric so to me he is saying He is the long haired son of a sinner. Trying to get out of the sin or the life he was living then. So he is a pedal to the highway or he is trying his best, to out run his past so he can be a better person than he was before. But heck what do I know I Am Just A Bald Headed Son Of A Sinner ha ha !!!!!!!
for your clarification whatt you were confused about is pedal pr paddle its pedal to the highway because hes looking for new ways to get gone a pedal to the highway what do you do as you merge on the highway? you floor it to get gone the lyrics are I'm just a long-haired son of a sinner Searching for new ways I can get gone I'm a pedal to the highway If you ever wonder why we write these songs you're impressed with his public work react to his testimony in front of senate
Thank you! Feels dumb sometimes when we go back and watch, but a first time listen (especially with a video) doesn't always "click". Appreciate your patience!! ❤️🥷🏻
I may have misunderstood but, did you say you have HS? As in hydradenitis supprativa or something else? I'm asking because I have HS and I haven't met many others...just curious.
Hey Jessica!! Yep, Jeremy has Hidradenitis Suppurativa (Stage 3). We have a whole HS world to introduce you to!!! First, here is his story on HSconnect.org (we are community advocates). Also, we host this HS "Warrior Stories" RUclips channel, where you can learn others' stories from our interviews around the world:www.youtube.com/@warriorstories . Holler if we can help in any way. Thank you for reaching out!
@musikbyjh Thank you! I will absolutely check all of that out. I also have stage 3, and I'll tell you, I feel for anyone who suffers from this at any stage. I have yet to meet anyone else who has it! Of course, I know people do, and I've discovered videos and online information, but it's definitely a very lonely, painful, and difficult disease. Honestly, I watch a lot of your reactions and enjoy them but as soon as the words "I have HS..." came out of his mouth I instantly felt seen. I really appreciate that. Again, thank you!
@@jessicahouser4823awwww I love to hear that. You’re definitely not alone. I was actually bed ridden from it for almost a year. Definitely a lonely disease, but there really are so many of us! And in good “awareness” news. I’ll be heading to Orlando in 2 weeks to speak on a panel in front of 1000+ doctors and medical professionals. Definitely advocating for this terrible disease to be seen as much as possible! You’re not alone my friend! 🤘🏽😎🤘🏽
@musikbyjh A year is a long time to be bedridden! Shew. It seems that you are doing better now, though....I hope so. I actually haven't gone outside in almost 7 years. This disease (and other things) has greatly affected my mental health. Its great to know someone is speaking out for all of us. Just speaking to you on here, someone who is in my same position, really made my day lighter. You have no idea. Keep up the good fight maybe we'll chat again soon. Again, thank you both....it's appreciated more than you will ever know!
@@jessicahouser4823I’m so glad you found us, my friend! And I definitely know the mental struggle you deal with when it comes to this. These days, things are manageable…but having gone through what I did, even the bad flares, as annoying as they are, I’m still not completely halted from living. Prior to this music channel, Ninja and I had a travel RUclips Channel (well, we’ll get back to some of that stuff again at some point, but it’s been on hiatus). While traveling in Brazil, that was the start of me becoming bed ridden. You can see that story, and how I was trying to get Humira in Brazil, here: ruclips.net/video/zooseIM8D4U/видео.htmlsi=PZf0kPhHLybgPg69 And then a few months after being bed ridden, we did a channel update…so you can kind of see where I was. You’ll probably notice a HUGE difference in my voice, right off the bat. I was in rough shape. ruclips.net/video/TF41qIKLWVs/видео.htmlsi=Jqq67RuDY6hC2DYo But I’m much better now! Just gotta try and keep spreading the awareness! I hope you’re doing ok as well. I know some days are better than others. But just remember that there are lots of us who know what you’re going through.

@@musikbyjh Hugs back! I had to listen to it several times before I even was sure what the words even were lol, so no worries.
Pedal to the metal (haul ass/get the hell out of dodge) is the usual phrase, but it wouldn’t work lyrically.
Love the reaction.
can also mean along the lines on "go our/ur own way /do things on ur own without anyone elses help :) if its a version of "paddle ur own canoe" :D
I see a different message in the song. I think it shows hope because he’s left his old ways and thoughts behind and is looking to the future.

You should watch the video where he spoke to Congress in Nashville, Tennessee. It a really powerful statement that he made
Love Jelly Roll and his music. He will be in DC in September

We love your analysis, Mike!! ❤️🥷
I interpreted the song the same way
At first he's gonna hate me but eventually he'll save me
He did an open verse challenge. He let people create their own verse for it. Some of them are fantastic.
Do the Courtney LaPlante live one take of Spiritbox-Circle With Me
He won a CMA Award for that video. I LOVE JR!
You should react to Jelly Roll's Need A Favor. great song!
Check out If These Tears Could Talk featuring Bailey his daughter. Great video and song❤❤❤
He is a pedal to the highway means he hit the gas going fast hard and long
Great, relatable song. He has such a voice! ❤️🎶
❤❤❤ Love Jelly Roll! He's doing some big things these days! I'm so happy to see his success!
Same - it's been so fun learning his catalog. Thanks for being here, Megs!!
