- Victor Shamas, PhD, offers a fresh vision of the creative process as well as two practical tools for inducing the peak experience of creative inspiration.
Victor is an explorer of inner worlds and peak experiences. As a University of Arizona psychologist, Dr. Shamas has conducted research on creativity, consciousness, intuition, wisdom, imagination, play, hypnosis, problem-solving, inspiration, music perception, self-transcendence, and a simple wellness technique called Repose, which he co-developed. He is the author of four books: Deep Creativity, The Way of Play, The Chanter’s Guide, and Repose: The Potent Pause. The funny thing for me as an artist that it's kinda what had me fall in love with someone. Inspiration is a type of falling in love, more emotional but yea.
Essentially what he's saying it's the heart, thinking is overthinking for intuitive people aka artistically minded

Ikr, creative inspiration is like the biggest orgasm you can have. I have experienced it first hand, but I found that my biggest creative orgasms were when I was high on acid. I drew for hours and hours on a log high on acid, and if felt like god had touched my heart.

I was afraid I had lost the link to this video, I'm grateful I saved this on my old laptop. Just watching this video again brought tears to my eyes, as it is exactly what I needed to hear, as a creative who has been working a desk job (not in the creative industry) for the past three years. Thank you, Victor. I feel more ready now to get back into the designers chair

In-spiration is the act of breathing in or soaking in what is already out there in other people's works and then putting it in to your own work through your own eyes/lens. And then someone else repeating the process/cycle over and over again with the work you put out there (also known as: the act of being inspired).

@@vastucson Thanks, but what I meant was about a peer review scientific paper, or the meta analysis where the book come from.
Which research interests you specifically? Deep Creativity has 235 citations. A meta-analysis requires replication by multiple labs. Any labs interested in replicating our findings can request and be provided with the instruments used in specific studies.

This is so much of a drafted speech with no real insight. Music and dance does heighten the spirits, but drawing, painting, and crafting is concentrated work. And I wouldn't consider walking as play. If this speaker would actually "do" creativity he would find that all the bullsit he is saying is at best marginal.
Boring.. this is old for me..PLAY.. that's the key.. what's my new play that I've not done. Within the law.. right? You're not creative living isolated in missouri USA.. LMAO
