    It was remarkable that Sara came out of retirement to play the show. Thank goodness there is this recording!

      Yes it was a shock to everyone she agreed to do this, her last recording was back in 1941 and the last time she was with the group was in 1944.

    I absolutely love the Carter Family ( the original 3 ). They represent the purest and most beautiful sound to come out of the hills andaechollows of the southern U.S. What a great thing happened when these 3 came together. Can’t get enough of that wonderful “hillbilly” music, and I mean hillbilly as a compliment.

    They liked having him to anchored in love because they said it was the only one he had to get in there and work. His quavering bass that goes in and out on the original in that song is the best.

      I know sadly there is no footage at all of Sara, Maybelle and A.P performing, there was footage from the 1953 performance but it was damaged in storage all that could be recovered was the audio.

    It must have been tough for AP to be in the presents of Sara after their break up knowing things would never be what they once were with her

    I know Sara died in Lodi CA, do you know what the cause of death was and did she die in the hospital?

    • @carterfamilychannel
      @carterfamilychannel  4 года назад +20

      Yes, she died in hospital of heart failure, after Maybelle's death she had a fast decline she took it really bad and after Maybelle's death she was in hospital with circulatory and respiratory problems which sadly lead to Sara's heart giving out, she died aged 80 and asked to be buried near AP.

      Sara stated in an interview in 1977, that she'd "fallen out of love with A.P. in a romantic way, but I still loved him deeply as a friend."
      I'll post a link to the interview when I find it again.

    What does “damaged in storage from the Hank Snow Collection” mean?

    • @carterfamilychannel
      @carterfamilychannel  3 года назад +5

      The film was damaged beyond repair sadly only the audio and some photos exist from that day, Hank snow had a huge collection in storage, we are still trying to track down what actually happened to the damaged film to see if anything can be saved from it, to my knowledge it was thrown away.

    • @garretgarland7838
