    Mr Graves, thanks for all your free help. That’s a big deal to me. I’m 62 and with your help I’m a born again golfer. I can hit the ball so much better. I could go on and on about this. The free part tells me a lot about how you truly want to help us. I really like Watching all your stuff but really like when you and Moe talk about the swing. Thanks for helping me and others. I’m still learning and hitting the ball better as I learn the process.

    I believe you just answered my problem with topping the ball which has been a continuous problem. In watching your video and comparing it with my last video of my swing, I am definitely "lifting" my lead shoulder at impact. Never realized that until now. Thanks, Todd. Will see you again next year.

    Being following your Single Plane. Trying to adopt. On your theory on what Stop make the swing go faster. A typical example can be the catapult. When the soldier cut the rope (as seen in movies) to release the catapult, the arm gain speed slowly and will come to a stop to release the 'rock' and the rock gain speed and flew a great distance before hitting enemy target.

    Excellent video Todd; 6:31-6:44 is the gravy! I'm working on getting stable and accelerate. Today was a frustrating day at the range, that's to be expected after only 6 sessions, BUT I had 2 shots that were 10 yards longer than ever before with my 5h and it was into the wind! The review of my swing on video was so horrible I just couldn't upload it, but changes come with challenges, and those 2 shots got me wanting more!

Haven't got the right feel for the 3 wood & below, so I'm still stuck w/ my old swing... It's kinda single plane swing, but closer feet just like most of the pros...I'll practice it on range when I have a time... Thank you Sir Todd... Todd, appreciate all of your recent new videos.....question: Whatever happened to one of the 4 basic principles of Natural Golf ....”facing the ball at impact?” I have been playing NG/single plane swing for about 15yrs and always found that concept very key to the method. It was stressed during my One Day Natural Golf Clinic, way back in 2004. Thanks and keep up the good work! Jim

    • @ToddGravesGolf
      @ToddGravesGolf  4 года назад +2

      Face the ball at impact is conceptual. It meant that at impact you felt as though the body was facing the target line. I found that this concept helped the golfers that over rotated in the downswing and did the opposite to the golfers who under rotated in the downswing. Like all concepts, they work for some and not for others. I teach rather by actualities and movement that produces the ideal positions. When I have you keep your lead knee flexed and your trail foot on the ground, I want you to rotate to the proper amount at impact. You might "feel" that you are facing the ball at impact yet you are actually producing the ideal position of the body. This is why it is very important, to have quantified the model so that you avoid concepts that can be easily misinterpreted. Sorry for the long answer.

    This is a very much overlooked lesson about the golf swing. Without the coil and release at the right time, legs moving past first after the coil is completed, then a person will never really be able to truly hit the golf ball well.

  • @salavaaa

    Hi Todd, im totally agree in most of the things that you teach. But im disagree in someone.
    From minute 2:05 to 2:15 you say the sequence of the Back swing, and I think the the hands pull the arms, the arms pull the torax, and the torax pull the legs. So when your torax is in your maximum, your legs start to move. With this sequence you can feel the power, and this sequence is efficent in nervious moments.
    I will love to know what do you think.
    Thanks for the videos!! I apreciate it!!

    One thing I've noticed with the single plane swing is that shift to the left side and really moving through the ball. However, in doing so do you think the ball should be teed lower with the driver? It doesn't look as though there is as much of an upswing as the conventional golf swing.

    Another great video. You seem to cover a lot of information lacking in others. I do have a comment on the stopping of the right shoulder. From a dynamics perspective, it seems most likely that the motion of the left shoulder away from the ball is responsible for the acceleration of the club, allowing the wrist release. The stopping point seems most critical for consistent ball strike location heel to toe, and a flattening of the club head trajectory thru impact (IMO). If the club head continues to accelerate (tangentially/ball path direction) after the left shoulder becomes largely stationary, it would imply the right hand is active. Do you see tangential acceleration continuing after the left shoulder stops in the data you collected?

  • @thomasfraser9072

    Very good explanation of preventing the lead shoulder from potentially spinning out of control. I actually get the feeling of hitting against a closed lead shoulder at impact. Your term swinging against a 'stopped lead shoulder' is better.
    Also I actually now see you are doing a typical release of the club head. At post impact to the ball your trail hands does seems to immediately role over your lead hand as many traditional good players do as well. Are you telling me that Moe did the same rolling over the lead hand with the trail hand release of the club as you have shown just now? Seeing that you saw him in the flesh; I guess you would be the one to know. Cheers.

    • @ToddGravesGolf
      @ToddGravesGolf  4 года назад +1

      Yes what you are seeing with the trail hand is a rotation BUT, think about what is actually happening, the trail hand is rotating as the torso is turning So, in effect the trial hand / arm are straightening as the torso and shoulders turn. Therefore, you don't "feel" the rotation of the hand only the extension of the trial arm as you turn. This is why Moe didn't feel the rotation of the trail hand either. Because it is happing as the body turns.

      Actually, the point is that when your knee is flexed (lead) and your trail foot is down, you don't need to think about anything. It does it naturally. Hit your positions. That is the lesson here.

I've never tried to swing it faster but I'm sure with a bit of speed practice I could get to 113 - 115mph. In no way am I trying to not rotate my lower body. I’ve played as right handed for years only to realize I should play lefty because of my balance. I kick the soccer ball with my left foot. As you know the swing is similar. He said he dropped the club face way behind his back! If you most know Moe Norman saved my swing and thanks to him I have a shot, starting with his 10 finger grip! Anyway!
