Great point on expectations! We have 2 full sets including saddlebag speakers not worth the fuss to me to install in our 21 RGS and 21 SGS. For his b-day I'll take his SG to have professional installation. Its that age old issues, change the exhaust to sound like a Harley not a bee, then need louder stereo. As far as grips, I put Avon grips on my 2002 Sportster rebuild to absorb the vibration. They really helped with the hand fatigue from holding on to keep my butt in the seat. My son took over that bike (twice). For the RGS I ruined the stock grips and on the fly ran to Harley bought the "cheapest" grips on hand. "Get-A-Grip" contoured grips. They are super comfortable. My son a sport bike guy now, loves these grips. I bought the stream line heated grips and wire harness for the bike last April 2023 and still haven't installed them. Eventually I will and the contoured grips will go on the SGS. Unless the hubs likes the heated grips then he can have them, and I'll look into the contoured style heated..... He hates to spend money. Hi Nikki, so funny how we make so many changes not thinking about the trickle affect it will have like the exhaust and stereo battle. I think the grips i replaced might have been the get a grip ones, ill double check. maybe over time they get more solid or if they have air pockets, they leak? I dont think I will ever need them here in San Diego but are the heated grips good about getting warmth through thicker gloves? always wondered about that.
