    I like the way you guys test off-road trucks for the Canadian market. Off-roading in Canada is often muddy with lots of rock, steep slopes, and tight spaces. Videos of Moab are always cool and Baja running looks like a blast, but that isn't the terrain Canadians put their trucks through. Well done.

    When you first went through in the ranger, you slow down and basically stopped, before you backed up and took a different line and went through with momentum. When you took the Colorado through you had the benefit of knowing that and you did it right from the start. That's why you had to back up and do it again. Well, I do believe the duratrax are better tires too though. I do favor the ranger, but you can't go wrong with either one of these. Thanks for the video 👍

    I drove both and the Ranger (XLT Sport) just felt all around better to me (the ZR2 does look badass though). The weight of the wheel in the Ranger has a bit of heft, which makes me feel more in control of the vehicle. My offroading experience is much different than these guys though, New Mexico High Desert. They're both great trucks. 2 months in, and I have absolutely no complaints about the Ranger - towing through the mountains is a breeze, even when taking the trailer through hilly, unpaved terrain.

      @Ryan Belden Mine is a 2018 built in 2017 and had 2 leaky shocks replaced under warranty. I heard they remedied that for 2019 and newer I think.
      The 4wd actuator and the a/c blend actuator were also replaced under warranty. Everything was done while it was getting an oil change, so I was never inconvenienced nor stranded.
      I can only speak for myself, but I'm not easy on vehicles and this truck has handled everything I have thrown at it. The most recent test was recovering a stuck nissan titan on the beach. It just clawed and dug and dragged it out. Great truck. Not perfect, but does everything well

    • @t_c5266
      @t_c5266 3 года назад +5

      @The__Canuck. 3 года назад +1

      well the difference in price is a big take away there as well, most duratracs are in the $250 range per tire, vs the $150 range per tire for the Grabbers. I've had both on vehicles and I can tell you the grabbers last almost as long on the highway and street as the duratracs and are pretty comparable in mud and off-roading.

    • @private6549

      YEP! I have found the Duratracs are FAAAAAR better tires BUT still not quite as good as the NITTO Ridge Grapplers or the even more high end NITTO EXO GRAPPLERS --- Those two are probably the BEST standard production run 4-season Rock, Sand, Mud, Snow and Ice MT tires on the market!
      You CAN get super-high-end specialty-market MT tires in the $1000 to $2000 USD per tire range but that's your choice to spend that much on a tire! (i.e. up to $8000 for a set of four!)

    The only way I'd give up my ZR2 is for the Ranger Raptor. Maybe have a slight biased for my ZR2 but no brand loyalty what so ever. With that front locker I've gotten in and out of things that I had no business attempting by myself. And pricing on sticker is quite expensive but for my 2019 I was out the door at 36.5k with the end of the year sale. I recently got a low miles/like new 2021 Tremor. It is a great truck, and a pleasure to daily. It drives so well on the road and is very comfortable, which is where mine will be 95% of the time. There will be a few rare occasions where I will ever go anywhere resembling "off road" but not many for me. Also, I have read in several places that it is 270hp/310T on 87 octane. But it has a knock sensor, so you can run it on 93 octane, and gain about 20-25HP. I haven't verified this, but many sources report it to be so.

    Both trucks are phenomenal. The Ford has better numbers, as is, but the ZR2 comes with a front locker and can be optioned with a diesel that gives it better torque and towing over the Ford. Tires can be changed so in the end, I'd go with the blue one. Oh, and great job Truck King on the channel and on having the best format truck-owners want to see!

    • @roblowndes7829

      @@Bigdsd89 No it doesn't. The ZR2 with a diesel tows 7,600 lbs which is 100 lbs OVER the Ford but it takes the price of the ZR2 up above the Fords by about $4K. Both trucks are very nice but if towing and payload are your main sticking points then neither of these trucks should be in consideration.

    At the 4min mark, I think you need to keep those trees on that curve. Yes, you would like to carry more speed in but what you have is far more realistic. Im going out to inspect a tower this morning and I have a sharper curve than that to navigate before going up towards the base. Knowing (guessing really) what any truck will do in that moment is better than seeing it in scripted driving like all the manufacturers put out.

    Great job guys ! That's the battle i'm waiting for since months . I bought my bran new ZR2 2021 since 6 months. I'll keep it for 1 1/2 year and i hesitate for maybe change for a Ranger Tremor 2022 and comeback to ZR2 for the new model for 2023/2024 ( it's only because i rent and have the chance to change more often). Because of your challenge, i'm more sure of what Ranger can do. One thing missing on ZR2....fog lamps on bumper like Ranger. ZR2 looks more aggressive but Ranger offer more payload and towing but if you don't need it, it doesn't matter. Maybe an inch more of ground clearance on ZR2 will be great. Both truck are great and nice but for midsize trucks they are expensive more than a full size........thanks again and great job !!

    I own a Colorado Z71. I actually looked at the ZR2 when I purchased my Colorado. The turn off for me was the decreased tow rating. I have a small utility tractor and a square drop camper I tow. I like the Colorado; however, of these 2 trucks I would choose the Ranger Tremor because of the towing ability/rating.

    I would like to see the Z71 version of the colorado, which ads some offroad goodies like the tremor but isnt a heavily modified offroader like the ZR2. Personally I think the ZR2 is geared more towards the (not available here in north America) ranger raptor. Thats why ram released the trx and ford is making the f150 tremor (and chevy is doing... nothing?)
