Thanks to everyone who seems to be enjoying the story, and to Dr. Creepen for adapting it. For those asking for a sequel, it’s part of my (still ongoing and slowly updated) series the Wicker Saga. Doc has done a few of the (currently) twenty stories in the series including A Figure In the Fog and Her Red Right Hand. Not all stories directly connect with the others, but I hope you’ll check them out…Sarah’s Story is a sequel of sorts to A Figure in the Fog and you get some background on the mom and daughter that show up at the end of The Soldier, so maybe Dr. C will consider doing that one sometime!

@@deeznuts3203Thanks so much! And not yet. A couple don’t have any narrations, several have a few, and some have a bunch. Creepy Ghost Stories, Nature’s Temper, and Creeparoni have probably done the most individually.

Good afternoon Doctor, and good afternoon all! Really looking forward to this one. I was too young for the First Gulf War, and I'd already left the Army by the time that the Second Gulf War happened. Some of my friends served there, one in particular had only just left school and joined the Grenadier Guards, and went immediately from finishing Basic Training, right onto a flight to Iraq for the First War. Came back a TOTALLY different person, deeply mentally scarred by his experiences, and he's not been the same since. THAT was out even taking into account the physical effects of 'Gulf War Syndrome' which is now known to be a real thing! I'll be making an effort to start listening to this one early so that I (Hopefully) manage to stay away until the end!) Hope evenyone had a great weekend, and that is having a pleasant and easy week so far! :D

As a retired Veteran, cause I'm not sure if I buy into the "Once a Marine, Always a Marine" slogan or not. But, many stories circulated through the Teams , from an ODA running into a red haired giant in a cave while conducting a mission to determine whereabouts of a Infantry patrol with whom all contact had been lost to stories of ghost in different firebase's giving the occupying personell all kinds of grief. That combined with all the unknowns in the world. Whose to say what stories are true or not. Cause if you have first person knowledge and negate the obvious NDA the Government will order you to sign and abide by. Then it's always easier for the President to use Posse Commititaus or however the Latin is actually spelled,,,,to "Waco" your ass. Oh and this S...A ..W....shit has to go, say it with me "SAW" ya know like the one you cut wood with .... Pronounce it as a whole word. It's a 249 SAW, as usual great work Doc.
I always look forward to a new story on my day off. This makes my duties SO much more enjoyable. Much 💙

Had I known, I wouldn't have listned. I've always had trouble with that theme in general and in this specific... just a little too real.
Had it not been only 10 minutes left, I would not have finished it.
But those are my personal issues. The story is relatively well written and the betrayal is in keeping with reality.

I’ve been hoping you’d do this one for so long. The entire Wicker Saga is one of the best things I’ve ever read. If you want to do something huge, you should do the complete saga. It will definitely take a long time, though lol
