This movie left a mark on my brain (still to this day) seeing it at 16 in a Westport Mo theater -- the same one that showed Rocky Horror at midnight on Saturdays! LOVE IT!!!
Yep, this was the movie that planted the mind-virus that has given us the dysfunctional America we live in today. Thanks to the Russians! secretsun.blogspot.com/2023/08/secretsun-dogday-rerun-year-that-broke.html May its fans have their brains drained of their endorphins, and their bodies harvested for their organs and adrenochrome. They are nothing more than mesmerized sheep for the slaughter, who have nothing against having their throats cut, as long as it is done in style.
Great film!! Low budget punk rock sci-fi movie, set in NYC early 80's. Aliens, drugs, fashion, strange sex. Not for everybody but film buffs will appreciate it!
I loved it when I saw it. I'm pretty sure I was off my head, but for the Puck/New Wave aspect and the attitude, this flick captured NY in all it's glory!
The movie reminds me of some of the street people in the eighties. I would double bill it with My Own Private Idaho. It's kind of a document of a moment in time in a certain fringe counter culture. Don't be disappointed in the story because it's not what is satisfying about the movie. Very interesting cult movie from the eighties. It used to play at midnight theatres often.
My friend made me watch this last week. At first I was like, this is the dumbest movie I’ve ever seen. Then it quickly grew on me. It’s been 5 days and I can’t stop thinking about it. The soundtrack is unique and the people who cleaned it up for the blu ray did an incredible job. I honestly have no idea how a movie shot in 1982 with a small budget on probably mediocre cameras looks this crystal clear. I’m absolutely buying the blu ray.
Saw this in the Village Playhouse movie theatre in the early 80s on the urging of a friend who knew ALL OF THE LINES. I tried to buy it in 99 in chicago, but the video store owner told me he had relinquished his only copy to a guy who rented it 9 times! I have it on VHS. A masterpiece...shows the timestamp of NYC in 1980s!
I saw this on vhs when I was 14 in 1983. My father was very worried when he walked in while I was watching it. I told him, but Dad, it's totally new wave!! That didn't make him feel any better.
Blade Runner, Tron and Liquid Sky were years ahead of their time and complete originals, or maybe they were products of their time. This is one of the most 1980's films I've ever seen.
I got into this film via a pre-fame Madonna CD called 'The Early Years'...where Madonna sings some really high pitched songs...backed on a few by Otto Von Wernherr who plays the researcher Johann..One hell of a superb film...nothing like it...for a very wide variety of reasons...adore it!!

A really fantastic movie from the early eighties. A cult movie, and the soundtrack is a fine art work quite balanced between techno punk-minimal-destroy and barroque influence.
@Jose Maria Herranz There is stuff that came out in this era like Blade Runner , Gary Newman , B 52s , maybe Keith Haring art very much from the New Wave era , yet also ahead of its time and still retaining its futuristic essence in 2021
One of the weirdest movies I've ever watched but one of the best too.The movie oddity and my mind matched well,I can't explain how or why but that's the reason I like it so much
Best Punk Rock Films: Jubilee, Liquid Sky, Repo Man, SLC Punk, Ladies and Gentlemen the Fabulous Stains, Valley Girl, the Automobile Graveyard, Sid and Nancy, Summer of Sam and All Over Me. That Darn Punk is worth mentioning too.
I saw this 3 times at The Waverly Theater in Greenwich Village when it came out and enjoyed watching the audience reaction between bewilderment and literally walking out in droves.
Don't get too angry with me folks...but I saw this in the (artsy-fartsy) cinema when it first came out. At a party in college not long after, this picture was the topic of conversation and I was the first to say that the emperor had no clothes. We all thought that we were all just SO DEEP. LOL! 🤣
One of my favorite Sci-Fi films next to Blade Runner and Tron. The problem was the long takes and slow pacing and it probably should have been edited differently, but some of the best dialogue of any film I've scene with interesting characters, great story and colorful new wave sets and fashions.
This is a very contrary film...it defines Punk's morphing into 80's New Wave, it's almost a feminist film, yet shows how women can also make horrible life choices, and revels in how repressive the counterculture has become. This should be a boring film but is endlessly watchable.
See I love the art aesthetic of it but the whole plot holy there was a lot of unnecessary storylines that merged together in the end. I feel like that 2 hours went by in four. Everyone's going to have their own perception of it mine is no but occasionally will go back for laughs and giggles
Out of 20 people on Rotten Tomatoes...this movie has a 94% rating......lol...probably the worst attempt at a movie I’ve ever seen....however I was not on drugs. This movie was made for folks tripping out..back in 1982....What a decade.
I don't remember if I was stoned when I saw it, but back in NY, in the 80's, there was just so much shit going on that you couldn't help but be entertained! I liked the movie.
So this has no affiliation with the 90's Drum & Bass DJ's from Liquid Sky??? Yeah, cus this is 10 years earlier easy... Now I know where DJ SoulSlinger got the name Liquid Sky from... werque!!!!

This movie changed my life and the way I looked at the world. We watched this in the 80s at my house often on video night.

@@dagnabbit6187 Yazoo’s 1982 release hasn’t aged spectacularly but it does capture 1982 perhaps better than any form of medium.
Still makes a better Jem and the Holograms adaptation than the 2015 abomination that came out.
Amazing film. Need to watch again.
I saw this in the theater when I was 11. My big brother thought it was just a sci-fi movie and took me
THANK YOU TSUKERMAN FOR THIS MASTERPIECE !!!

This looks like it kicked off the whole Club Kids thing in NY.
That sounds like a Mitchell Froom soundtrack; this should be a double-feature with Cafe Flesh
One of my absolute favorite cult films.

Great flick. Didn't know what to make of it at first but it sucks you in. Very trippy.
I love this film.
Saw this at least for 5, 6 times.
Anyone else discover this because of “Cyberpunk 2077”? (Mike Pondsmith listed this in the core “Cyberpunk 2020” book.).
Ive seen this once back in the Blockbuster days
Mr Tsukerman, your Masterpiece Liquid Sky is my favourite Movie of all times !!!! please make a part 2 or another one!!

I think Spiderman should take a break from fighting the Sinester 6 and change an alkaloid in the heroin, so that it works for real.

Dammit, Adam Savage 😂
delicious delicious how boring and we would have barbecue on weekends
I love this film. It's just too slow at times. But the message was good about Hard Drugs destroying people.
that wasnt the message. the message was that if you wanna fuck aliens you better be holding.
