Nice work and very good shape of new handle. A lot of handwork. I'm only surprised how thin the tang of SRK is. I just don't trust knives with such a thin tangs. I prefer fulltangs or at least tang wider by the blade and narrower to the end.
Thank you for posting this. I learned many things. I have always liked watching a craftsman work. I can apply what I learned today to other projects; I also enjoyed the music as you were working. Regards Perfecto
Makes me really curious if the srkc handle would fit the kobun if it did it would be like having a recon tanto c I have a few kobun Gus’s I might have to order a srkc
This is a great video and it turned out beautifully. I just got the srk c and it has a noticeably thinner handle… I thought it was going to be the exact same but with a shorter blade but I was wrong. And I can’t really hold it properly because I have a permanent injury to my knuckles. I’m thinking a leather stacked handle is the only way to go to make it better. I’d do this for my full srk too but I’m nervous about wrecking it. The compact is a good Guinea pig because I can’t really do much with this knife until it has a fatter handle. I’m a sucker for natural materials, so while the srk handle is good, grippable and will last for generations, it just doesn’t please me aesthetically like a natural material like wood or leather (or micarta, but micarta looks almost natural) does.
I am looking to make a similar handle for my SRK in 3v. How thick is the micarta you used for the finger guard and pommel? I am wondering if I can use 1/4" x 1.5" x 1" ? I like the looks and thickness of your micarta. Great job!
Hello Ursus, can you explain how the blade can be files and ground if it has been hardened ... or you aneal the knife before the work was done? Very nice work by the way!
Amazing craftsmanship. I own a SRK. I’d love to my handle redone like this.
Excellent job on the handle. I love it
Great work and what an improvement on the original handle! One thought, instead of stacked leather, how about stacked micarta, perhaps next time?

Great work how did he remove the handle so cleanly I have a recon tanto I would like to mod
The brass lanyard hole was removed and rubber slid off.
Amazing, incredible work. Do you Do this work for $$? If so, what is the cost if the knife is provided.
Congrats, very well done 👍👍👍
Gracias
Probably an epoxy.
How many hours did it take
does it still fit in the sheath tho]
That is very beautiful!
So satisfying to watch. I somehow cannot turn away, but I need to go to the bathroom.
Work of art - looks like a Ka-bar!
Does it fit the original sheath?? That is what I was waiting for... D'oh..!
Que buen trabajo! ¿como le quitaste la empuñadura original?. Saludos!

I am positive you get this question quite a bit, but how much would you charge if I sent my SRK to you to have that done to mine?

Is it my understanding that the old handle was secured with nothing but the brass lanyard pin?
How are we supposed to know what you understood?
@@wilcoxtactical3716 am I to assume you've never heard that phrase?

The blade wasn't worked on at all. The end of the tang looks to have been annealed ao he could work the metal.
Brutal!
Beautiful piece.
Good joob 👍😃
Excelente trabalho
What? Hidden tang like a Mora?
Guess I thought it would be easier. Really superb craftsmanship. Guess I'll be keeping mine as is.
