    Before verbally sparring about the figure 3 times, wouldn’t it make sense to:
    1) thank the recruiter for bringing up compensation and show interest in furthering their understanding once thoroughly informed
    2)respectfully spin the question back to the asker, aiming to gain further insight on the overall salary band and pay structure for the role
    3)refrain from confirming any exact figure
    4)exhibit that you maintain interest in the role further and would be confident sharing comp in greater detail after learning more about the opportunity
    As the interviewer mentioned afterwards, the pushback came off a bit ‘uncollaborative’.

    Never say a number first. Just say let’s talk about pay when we know I’m a good fit for the role. Only talk money with an offer letter in front of you.

    I mean, I get the point but there’s so much you can BS, I feel that some recruiters will see you as a talker and pass on. But I’m not the expert so maybe not 🤷🏻
