BlackBerry Passport vs. Unihertz Titan: Two Giant Keyboard Phones
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 20 сен 2024
- The BlackBerry Passport and the Unihertz Titan are two giant keyboard phones. One is running BlackBerry 10, and the other is running Android 9. But even though there are a lot of differences, there are a lot of things that are quite similar, and worth looking at.

My dude. Just want to let you know I've been bingeing a lot of your videos the past few days. Ordered a new Q10 at first, but ended up cancelling that order and ordering this phone.
You have single handedly made me very hyped to get a phone again. Cause for me the peak of smartphones was reached when BlackBerry still made their classic phones.
My thicc sausage fingers have never agreed with the virtual keyboard and I was afraid I was just going to have to live with it. Super, super excited to get my Titan
Sweet. Glad you're enjoying them so much. I hope you enjoy the phone
@@TechOdyssey Been a while since this message. I've been loving the phone ever since I got it but after upgrading it to Android 10 it started showing some issues.
Now it's working perfectly again and I regret buying a Galaxy S21 Ultra.
I am super hyped for the Titan Pocket
I am a senior so Blackberry was the one I knew well plan to purchase one next month.
@@TechOdysseyAwesome product just ordered one from UK stock for my wife as she's old school and loves her BB Passport which I also got her just before the pandemic but since WhatsApp, Microsoft etc stopped their association with those phones the game was up for them. Titan ordered with leather case and tempered glass screen protectors She'll be overjoyed I think 😅

Are you still using you BB in 2024?
These blackberry like modern phones are pretty Cool! Keep them coming!
Will do,! Thanks for watching
Great job, neighbor! Love that you're still dedicated to BB and doing reviews. As a former BB Enterprise Administrator and faithful BB phone user, I'm saddened by the demise of RIM/BB. Anxiously awaiting the arrival of Android 10 for the UniT and its impact on the phone. Haven't seen any references to a date for the A10 OS update nor an autoloader option.
Currently using a blackberry keyone black edition and a classic right now.
Some folks in the BlackBerry forums are Unihertz users and they said it arrived recently. Were you able to install it? If so, what's the performance like?
@@blinddog1212 - Installed A10 without any problems and had zero app issues during the short time I used it. AT&T recently blacklisted the Titan on their network so now the phone just sits in a drawer. I never expected to use the Titan as a daily driver since I have a Pixel 4 XL for that purpose, but sucks that AT&T would do that in my area to both the Titan and Key2. They suspended my account when I moved my sim card to those phones. Not worth the fight with their 2nd tier tech support over it so I just moved on and now anxiously await the 5G BlackBerry device from Onward Mobility.
Thanks for taking the time to do a comparison. I miss my silver edition passport more than any phone I've owned. Typing on the keyone, thinking about a titan.
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Dropping the Titan on my face might be an improvement ;-)
Maybe we could talk Unihertz into starting a Priv clone kickstart campaign ?
5G BlackBerry coming in 2021. Not sure about form factor, I am only aware of the fact it is coming next year. Designed by a company in Texas and built by Foxconn.
This's still the best phone ever used, especially for browsing and phone calls. ❤️❤️BB SE❤️❤️
So very true especially if your over 70 years old.
BIG BOSS MAN!! That's who you remind me of 😄😄
Another great review 👍🏿💯
Thank you!
Hey, I still use my Passport daily! Battery still excellent...
Nice!
How long does the Batterie hold up? Bought one yesterday can't wait to have it in the mail
@@ZwipeAir On standby up to 5 days, light usage two days or so, heavy usage easily a day perhaps two. I have owned two and on both battery quality was good even though five years old when I purchased!
Watching this as I write looking forward to this.
I'm definitely getting the Titan and the pocket the each have their own pros and cons I like the Titan more because I have bigger hands and will probably be more comfortable to me.
Great comparison - thanks! Looking forward to seeing your coverage of the Onward Mobility BlackBerry in 2021.
Thank you
Discontinued,
Maybe it's time to revisit the Titan, following the demise of OM?
All the way from SA thanks for the video ,love BlackBerry
Great videos, subscribed!
I loved the BlackBerry Passport while I had it and I've been missing the physical keyboard over the past few years while using 'normal' smartphones. So after watching your videos and a few others I've just ordered a Titan from Amazon UK(£299). Can't wait for it to arrive in a few days!
Oh nice. I hope you enjoy the Titan. It's a solid phone. Its not my cup of tea but many people really enjoy it
I like the different setting in your lounge (I assume it's your lounge anyway 😂)
Another great video fella!
It's just a leather loveseat I bought for my apartment 16 years ago lol. I've held onto it in the event that I ever have my own private office because it's nice, Italian leather - however no such office has materialized to-date. It's actually in my living room off next to my table I normally shoot at and I wanted to try something different. I learned a few things to make it better for next time but it was a nice change of scenery. And.... Thanks for watching, Dave!
@@TechOdyssey also in the event that u venture into the adult film industry
Great video.
I'm useing Unihertz Titan for one month.
Good battery - charging every fourth day.
Good for exel and other offices apps.
For me one minus - problems with the polish special signs.
Thanks. I’m glad you’re enjoying it
There's something about BlackBerry that I keep on longing for. If they are able to get some things right thins time, I bet they will be able to pull it off again!
...It would have been nice if you did ONE size comparison. You barely even showed the phones next to each other. Like a side profile or just any camera shot of them sitting next to each other without being zoomed in so close would be nice. Was it intentional to not do that??
I think this guy read my mind!
Everytime he made a videos which I'm thinking before he upload it!
Sry I'm bad in English😞😅
Glad I read your mind. Hopefully you enjoyed it.
I love it everytime you make in depth video about Blackberry 10 @ Passport. Anyway the Unihertz Titan has more advantages as you mentioned. Keep more coming my friend 😀👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
You don't cover the same tech that everyone else does these days. I like that.
I didn't contact you to request it, but thanks you did.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching.
Dang, with their different kind of thinking in design, I wonder where they'd be nowadays. If they went just a little bit with the changes. Just hooked up with Samsung or Sony and learned from them. It's really sad to me... what a godly device!
I use my Passport SE everyday (almost 4 years). Don't miss any apps; don't care about the camera. Nothing better for phone and text. Also, great for playing FLAC files.
I’m glad it’s still working so well for you that’s great
Unfortunately a lot of messenging apps no longer work in it or is outdated. Things like Viber, WhatsApp, etc won't work.
@@cedricduyongco I don't use any messaging or social media. I read on CrackBerry that voice and texting will stop working 31DEC21. I'll miss my Passport-still use it everyday.
@@danieloherrick6332 unfortunately messenging is no longer just social. We use it in official group chats with clients. Or internal group chats within a project. instant messenging has replaced SMS. So in a business/productivity set-up it is very essential. I have moved on to a Priv and eventually a KeyOne. However my KeyOne is now acting up and I am thinking of buying the Titan to replace it.
You are my hero. I have 2 passports and the Classic,.. loved your take on the Titan.. I like.
Thanks a lot!
The BlackBerry Passport is one of the most beautiful cell phones. Would it be possible to put the Unihertz Titan hardware as part of the BlackBerry Passport? I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking about this
I want a blackberry back so bad apple basically ripped them
I love the look off the blackberry looks beautiful titan looks very big wish it was more like the passport maybe they wil make a different slimmer version but think I might get the Titan as don't want to lose Android.
If Unihertz teamed up with BlackBerry for "BlackBerry Secure" - they would have sold exponentially more Titan devices. The US military, for example, could use an ultra rugged and equally secure BlackBerry Passport like device.
Really hope Blackberry sees your videos and sees that there is still a loyal following of Crackberries out there seeking there kind of phone philosophy and platform.
Unihertz, a Kick-starter and Indigogo based company, can come up with such a phone as a Titan and still stay in business making newer and updated phones. Why can't you do the same Blackberry with your phone philosophy of productivity and security?
@TechOdyssey really hope you get through to blackberry through these videos of yours.
Take care always, God bless, keep up the good work and stay safe.
There is a new 5G BlackBerry coming in 2021. They have teamed up with a company out of Texas for the new, high end device. Can't wait to see it and grab one myself.
Awesome
Great video as always Tech. Was wondering if you can make a video/review of essential apps to have on a blackberry, I.e productivity app, communication app, etc..even some time killer apps such as games or photoshop type apps...
Thanks and keep up the great work. For a hardcore blackberry fan such as yourself I find your reviews very non biased, which is a great thing.
I'll see what I can do. I've been thinking about this and testing it out a little bit. I am going to try to do app/game highlights on Friday evenings - try anyway. It's a lot work. But I've spotlighted a BB10 game last night and last Friday. Will work on doing more. Also, thanks a lot. I am a huge BlackBerry fan, but I love all phones and tech, so I try to approach things from a realistic and practical manner. I enjoy the phones for what they are and still bring to the table. I know a lot of people still love and use their BB10 devices and maybe some of this stuff is helpful, and enjoyable to watch.
Are you still using the Titan as a secondary device or have you moved to it as your daily driver?
I’m n°10 - thank you - I loved the Passport!
Security updates wouldn't having a antivirus and malware APK help you with that ?
I have the Titan and my complaint is it doesn't text very well. I don't receive a lot of the texts sent to me and the texts I send don't get delivered so I don't use the titan at all.
Imy only complant was it doesnt have a arrow key
The titan is the bulky version of the passport after eating so much and working out on the gym
The Titan did a lot of carb loading lol
Actually the author of swipe functions could be said to be Nokia and their MEEGO os
Ah man MeeGo was such a slick OS, nothing competes even now. Mind you I guess Palm OS was really the OG, that was cool back in its day too.
@@Tetlee Palm WebOS was the OG for the card based background apps and some gestures and the BB10 was the OG for the full gesture mobility. I miss both. 😢
@@Sheikh_Speare same😑
looking forward to seeing your phone guide soon
is blackberry 10 still working? for how much longer will it work?
Thanks for the hearts sir but I didn't get an answer to my question LOL
I like to buy this phone blackberry passport fe
What would you recommend? One of these Unihertz or just buy a Key2?
Unihertz. Key2 is super outdated
Yes! I asked 3 years ago! :D
What would you recommend this year?@@hajjdawood
Hi @TechOdyssey, new suscriber here. Thinking of getting a Titan. The titan pocket's screen seems too small for me. I see that it has Android 10 now and security patch from July 2021 which seems ok to me. You should do an updated review with the updated OS :D
I would love to but I don't have the phone anymore and I couldn't get them to send me a review unit, oddly enough.
@@TechOdyssey That's a shame. Anyway, liking your content a lot. Keep up the good work!
Because your pretty much a expert on blackberries I'm a very heavy Facebook and social media user daily and android person but hate the note 9 touch keyboard and others would you recommend starting with the passport? Or unihertz Titan I did own a blackberry curve and bold when I was younger for BBM when it was so big back in my school days here in the UK.
I would not recommend the passport at all for Facebook and social media. Definitely the Titan. If you want to stick with blackberry though, even though it's on Android 8.1, the LE is still a solid device in my opinion.
I added the Blackberry apps on the Titan like hub but it seems not to to integrate with the phone. Cannot add email addresses and text messages don't show up in the hub. Am I doing something wrong
I always think, why we cannot find a solution to run android properly on BB Passport. We live in a World of amazing technology now. There must be someone who can do this. That's really not a big deal.
I'm just wondering how does it happened that Unihertz competing with blackberry that until now no new Blackberry products came into the market. Most of the post I've seen only introducing the new blackberry product till now. Second quarter ia almost gone but where is the new Blackberry Key3?
You say Passport has no symbol keys, alt, shift. But the Unihertz would have it. The Passport has it, but it is hidden! You have to swipe down on the keyboard once or twice and then the keyboard is flipped over so that all symbols are on the keys.
Ability to take pictures with a phones are limited. Buy a digital camera. Phone camera's are sheer personnel convenience devices.
I wish the Titan phone wasn't so ugly. Titan 2 needs to be like the passport but with alt shift numbers and symbols keys.
Yeah. I don't much care for the way it looks either. I prefer the way the passport looks
Great video idea!
Thank you so much for doing this comparison. Could you please review the f(x) tech pro 1 when time permits?
I was supposed to. They reached out to me and asked me if I wanted to review it and then they ghosted me. So, likely not going to happen. Sorry.
Hey I really loved this video, I have always loved blackberry and this video really made me want a blackberry again. So I can see if my carrier supports blackberry and buy one off of eBay????
There are a lot on ebay and mrbshop.org. I ordered mine as well. BB Passport is the best 🙂
Top marks again bro
Thanks a lot!
What clock is that @7:25? It looks interesting with those keys/buttons.
It's a Bluetooth speaker actually with a screen. Divoom Tivoo
@@TechOdyssey that's so cool, thanks!
What to do with the stock browser on BB OS10? It is slowly becoming unusable . Any alternatives?
I tried installing several other ones and it's a mixed bag of results. Have you tried getting the Opera browser?
@@TechOdyssey No haven't tried Opera. How to get it?
@@BenDover-jn5el You can get playstore on your BB and install it, or just download the. apk file from the internet.
It may be in the Amazon App Store if not you can try downloading the Google play store or try appsapk.com
I want the Titan Pocket.
Me too
Agree ..Passport my fav ever! I just bought the titan cause of you...cause I have a key 2 now but the operating system is super bad lately
Hopefully you enjoy the Titan and it lives up to the expectations I set in my video. Thanks for watching.
Same also here, passport my fav ever and after that until now, key 2.
I am thinking of this titan, because not very happy with key 2 as I was with passport.
But as you say, software is lagging. And many are reviewing the same.
Well is Chinese, is Android is not bb10
Does it work with AT&T?
Question: when I received or make calls, the screen is dark, no button or swipe can bring the screen to light so I can place on speaker or mute or even hang up! Please let me know, thanks.
Question for you, if you sideload the BlackBerry keyboard app on the Titan, can you use hardkey shortcuts like ctrl+c and ctrl+v? Or alternatively, does the Titan have those baked in?
I am not sure. Also I don't have the phone anymore so I can't test it out, unfortunately. But I'll give it a whirl when I am able to get the titan pocket one day
@@TechOdyssey cool, looks like some Amazon reviews state the Titan has built in ctrl shortcuts and even home screen app shortcuts so it looks like the BlackBerry app wouldn't even be necessary
wonder how well that Unihertz runs pokego. I've really eyed it lately.
i want hte tank. I want the physical keyboard.
where is possible to bu

It's not up for regular sale yet. They are preparing the kickstarter units now for delivery in September. i would imagine after that they will go on sale on the Unihertz Website.
Titan packet launching on 18 May 2021
Too small lol
My current phone is a BlackBerry passport and everyone that literally sees it, either says "what phone is that" or "is that a BlackBerry". Friends ask when I will upgrade to Apple or Android. I just don't want to . I have only used BlackBerry phones. However, my phone is getting old. Visiting certain websites, my phone isn't always compatible. I never heard of the Unihertz Titan, until now - but I don't want such a bulky phone. Which phone would be the best transition phone - BlackBerry would be ideal, but any recommendations would be appreciated? I don't do gaming or use ton of apps, etc. I use my phone mainly for work and would love a great camera.
I would recommend the KEY2 or KEY2 LE. The KEY2 LE might suit you really well but if you like the touch sensitive keyboard, maybe look at the KEY2
@@TechOdyssey I was almost sold on the KEY2, until I found out the security updates will end this month. I have AT&T and I don't think they will support that platform in 2021. Looks like I may have to get the iphone 11.
@@vbiddy yes. Likely the security updates will end this month. It's very unfortunate. The iPhone 11 is a good phone. Also, the new iPhone 12s are just about 5-6 weeks away.
@@vbiddy we just got a new update for the Key2 last week! Second one since August.
Hi Techodyssey, I appreciate the details u view abt these phones, they bit expensive, tho something worth need invest. I still need more detail Q20 is packetable tho Q30, unihertz needs abag. I think all got 4businesses, according to features.... Isn't! Thanks all videos

Is it still working WhatsApp on passport?
200 euro new is it worth?
I don’t think it’d a good idea to buy at this point
First of all, I would like to thank you for making this video. I am a long-time lover of the Blackberries. Just 2 days ago, I got the Titan and I would like to use the opportunity and ask you a few questions, if I may:
1) How do you make the screen slide up and down by touching the keyboard and sliding the finger through the keyboard? I am sliding my fingers through the keyboard, but the screen is not moving;
2) How can I make my text/email/Facebook messenger notifications more quiet? I am lowering the volume to the silent yet those notifications are still coming in very loudly;
3) How come I am not able to receive or send photos from/to an LG phone?
Thank you for reading,
Elena
Whats your suggestions?? Should i buy passport in 2021???
Thanks for the video. My keyboard on my Passport SE stopped working completely. Meaning, I can't scroll down or up with it anymore. I can only type on it. Would you know how to fix it? Thanks in advance.
Amei o design desse tel ...ainda vende ? Qual o máximo de memória que ele tem? A bateria dele come rápido ?
Did you turn the blender on?
How does the Titan compare to the BlackBerry Key2 or Key2 LE?
Very similar in power and performance. The key differences are the keyboard layout and software but you can make the Titan very BlackBerry'esque, with the BlackBerry Android launcher and apps.
Hi Can you tell me which blackberry passport model has symbols embedded on the keyboard along with alphabets
Wao I really love it unihertz shape

Has someone/is someone making/keeping up a custom ROM for the passport so it can be, er, more 'useful' in 2021? 🤔
Blackberry will buy Unihertz if this phone sells well
Nah. I don’t think so
@@TechOdyssey It will be interesting to see how Unihertz follows this up...Titan2 or a similar keyboard phone. There is a market that will purchase keyboard phones if they are well built and have a solid software experience.
Do you have any info on any Chinese spyware on the Titan?
No, I don't. Someone mentioned that in a precious video in the comments but I don't know anything about it.
@@TechOdyssey Thanks for the reply. The spyware is the big issues for me assuming I would use it as a daily driver.
I was reading earlier on a Reddit forum regarding the Titan, after your question. Seems people's solution is either blocking software that prevents apps from sending information, or rooting the phone.
@@TechOdyssey Thanks. If you decide to do those suggestions, that would make an interesting video.

These days I am using the Unihertz Titan alot more. Can read kindle books, listen to audible etc which I could not with Blackberry Passport and I am now very closely to completely discarding Blackberry. They are just not a creative or innovative company these days. Chan has been a disaster for the company and just seems to lack any imagination or vision . Imagine how different Blackberry if they had a Steve Jobs like leader instead of what they have got.
The passport ruled. There is no successor.
There was no interest in the BB market becasue of its security encryption
level. BB was security mind set oriented and big corporations have no
interest because there were no money from a device highly secured with a
crazy telecomunication encryption that not event the law enforcement
was able to break in. Data is the gold now days which Android and iOS
get every day throuhg their apps. But BB privacy was pretty damn good. No
days BB is focused in cybersecurity providing services to govs/orgs.
BlackBerry in terms of OS platform and features was light years ahead of
Android and iOS
