Thank you for showcasing our beautiful little town. Our population currently stands at about 10,000 people, not 1900 though. Drive through at night and you can see all the lights of the homes sprinkled through the hills.
It was a really enjoyable place to see! Is that the population including the surrounding area? Everywhere I looked I found estimates between 1,600 and 1,900, but I know while Oakhurst shows almost 3,000 that figure is also closer to 12,000 including the surrounding area so it might get lumped together in that metric. We only showed a few of the shots but we drove down a TON of streets around Coarsegold, really beautiful place especially in October when we were there.
The two towns are right next to each other, so when thinking about which of the two you want to move too the main thing to consider is do you want it being a little more lowkey and country? If so, Coarsegold is your place. Or if you want it to be a little more city like, Oakhurst will be the spot since it has all the things you'd expect in a city like grocery stores and fast food. All things considered since it's such a close drive from Coarsegold though I'd probably pick Coarsegold to live in though and just drive a few extra minutes whenever I need to do grocery store runs, but it's down to personal taste in the end. And yes, Mike is excellent and has done great things for this place.
Such a joy to host Paul and his beautiful family 👪 Thank you for showing Coarsegold in all its glory! Come back some day when you can visit a little longer :)
We will! It really was our favorite spot on the whole trip. Plus your mattress was the only one that didn't give me a back ache when I woke up. Really couldn't have enjoyed our stay any more then we did.
Thank you, we appreciate it! It's a nice town. Unfortunately the pizza place in the video closed, the shady owners ran them out of town, but the town is still a very nice place to live and is very close to Oakhurst as well and has an awesome burger shack/soft serve ice cream joint as well.
@@TheTaleofCities Thank you for your response. I'm curious: Can you tell me anything about how the town has changed from en -70s or -80s until today? In broad strokes ..
It's one of those blink and you'll miss it towns, the downtown area is very compacted and the rest of it is in off roads you wouldn't go down for many reasons, it's really an awesome find!
When they say that Coursegold is about a half hour from the south gate of Yosemite... ( 13:10 ) technically correct... that is where you pay the entrance fee... but note that it is another 40 minutes drive to the tunnel entrance to the valley. We pass through Coursegold on the way to visit my family in Mariposa. Usually we hit the little "Robert's Frosty" shop for a treat. We might have to check out that pizza place too!
Dude that Robert's Frosty place is freakin amazing. We ordered ice cream and fries and enjoyed it so much we had to do it a 2nd time too after we left Oakhurst. And lord knows we had pizza for days with those delicious pies you saw from Coast 2 Coast, that was some of the best pizza we've ever had.
@@glenn_r_frank_author Every time we go up or down that mountain, there's no way we're skipping that place. Only moments we had of pure bliss "car eating" during this whole year lol.

Love this place!! Wow! Even more laid back than Oakhurst! I loved meeting Mike and see his pizza place!

@@TheTaleofCities nice. Yeah we usually all grab rootbeer freezes or something there on the way back from Mariposa in the summertime especially!

Now I want pizza.
Yeah I totally needed to order one while I edited that segment.
Great video, but Covid did not stop our festivals this year. Gavin Newsome did.
He's just sore he wasn't invited.
The name of the town isn't cute I would rename it - Veta Madre Hills or Mesa Vista Hills - something that sounds cooler.
Good script but music a tad loud.
Blame comrade newsom for COVID closures
