Hi fellas I can confirm with you on a few things.
    1. I hunted an area for 7 years and seen 2 hunters down in there until they put a gas pad down there. There was an old grown shut jeeo trail from the 79’s and 80’s . I was hunting a Lee and Tiffany buck I seen there in that area and found that area down in there . The jeep path had over 100 scrapes along it. Then going east the 2 trails coming out of the thicket there was at least 30 rubs along the jeep trail at both spots.
#2 The gas road pushed the deer to the west into areas no man can get through with laurel to thick to walk through and 6 foot high .
    3. Even this year when it snowed in gun season the deer were in the pole line in the evening and they all went down in the jungle .
I me thing I learned hunters will not go far from eye sight from a pole line , road or fence .

You guys deserve more following. Loving the podcasts. Me and my brothers are very much the same as u guys grew up in Indiana have always hunted public and kill booners quite often. We live it. With that being said I fell out of a hang on about 2 miles in with a safety strap that goes around your waist and around tree. As I fell it broke I landed on my head and neck from 15ft up got life flighted shook back luckily.

You guys tickle me. The discussion about low stands and five gallon buckets, overdraw rests, etc. was a time when information was limited to outdoor magazines. Nobody talked about buck and doe bedding, mobile hunting and public land. Today's hunter is the recipient of endless you tube and podcast information. Though public land can be covered up with hunters, the number of deer hunters is fewer with every passing season. I do worry, with all the filmed hunts to watch on you tube, that some hunters now hunt vicariously, instead of entering the woods. Loved the podcast and would love to share my 73 year old perspective. The highest I get in a tree is about eight feet.

He(idk what his name is sorry new here) talks a lot about many more hunters hes seeing on PA public land in the last 10-15 years. But from my perspective on pa public land (state forest land in the northern third of the state) the complete opposite is true. Theres been significantly less hunters in the lay 10-15 years, and now while im out archery hunting, there may be another vehicle here or there, but i can have nearly a thousand acres of mountain big woods by myself most years the last 8 years. Id love to have him over to the area of the state i hunt and show him how absolutely amazing it is still

2022 I had a buck on camera and in person sighting that dropped both antlers the last week of October. Seen them with antlers in late march as well. I don't understand the variation. In my part of Western PA we still have a lot of does being bred late. New fawn born on my place in late July. I see a lot of late fawns. Thanks for a good show again.

I had a browning mirage in 1990 with a 4 inch overdraw. I was shooting 24 inch 2013 arrows with 90 grain muzzys! it was set at 75lbs and shot 265 fps. It was fast. The crazy thing is that I killed all kinds of deer with it and even shot a bull elk with it. that was a crazy time. I wouldnt think of using a setup like that now.

Johnny is right shed season is nuts now especially in the elk range where our camp is located, going up next week, can’t wait to talk to some locals I know about that situation. In terms of land, leases and people buying land and willing to pay whatever it takes for exclusively hunting has made public and hunt by permission land frustrating to say the least. Also, I’ll have you know Jared I’m in PA and I shoot a compound, so no not “everyone” in PA shoots a crossbow you dick, HAHA. Good pod boys!

Don't tell anybody but my favorite piece of public is on its way back. The hunting got so bad that people quit trying. This is the only reason we saw deer last year. The problem is a couple guys killed upper 160's last season and many of the others saw a lot of deer. This was of course posted all over social media. They are that stupid. For us the crossgunners and the "primitive" season are detrimental. We have half the number of crossgunners hunters as bow hunters, yet they kill more deer!

Wisconsin has the crossbow issue too. I’m “lucky” to be in a less prevalent county where only 55% of deer here are shot by crossbows.
“Missed an opportunity on a nice buck because he busted me drawing back so I got a crossbow so I don’t get busted anymore”
“62 yards through the timber. Smoked him”
“Just don’t have the time to practice enough with a bow”
Bow hunting isn’t supposed to be easy. Success during bow hunting is supposed to require patience, dedication, practice. Crossbows eliminate most of those requirements. Crossbows are arrow guns, not bows. Sight it in and you’re good to go.
Should they be able to be used in hunting? Sure. Should they be able to be used during archery season? Not for people who are physically capable of using a vertical bow.
