The ADVAN RG was introduced in 1995 by Yokohama Wheel Co., Ltd a subsidiary of the Yokohama Rubber Company. The Advan RG was one of the first wheels to use flow-forming technology, which allowed for a lighter and stronger wheel compared to traditional casting methods. The Advan RG quickly gained popularity in the motorsports and tuning communities due to its combination of lightweight, strength, and distinctive six-spoke design. In later years it was refined through the RGII in 2004, the RGIII in 2011 and the current generation the RG-4 in 2021. Other derivatives of the RG Were released such as the RG-D (2010) and the RG-D2 (2016) with the D indicating "Dish".
