I fell in love with the cover of "The Handmaid's tale" from Margaret Atwood. The book is from "Robert Laffont" in French and everything about it is perfect to me. I don't why I am so obsessed with it, but the cover is so strong with a bright red, every element is perfectly aligned, the visual is perfect!
Lil tip I learn from uni! If you make 3 boards the correct sizes (back cover, spine, front) you can then right click on pages panel and choose allow pages to shuffle, you can then merge the pages so they all site adjacent but are still seperate pages!
this morning I was thinking that I have to have a clear path in my mind for every step I take in the design process, but with this video, you helped me to get rid of those poisonous thoughts. thank you Paola😍
Hi Paola, thanks for this! I am wondering if graphic designers also need to include a barcode when their designing for books or other products? I am quite new to these things XD
oh they definitely don't "need" to it's just fun to think of all visuals when creating mock-up projects! If it were a real project the company you were working with would you help you out with that
Hello ! Your message is quite old but if you’re still wondering, graphic designers should put the bar code (if not, the printing house will), as it’s still an element of the design for your whole cover :) There is a tool on InDeign that creates the bar code when you enter the ISBN number given by the publisher. Also, bar codes don’t have to rectangular ! You can have fun giving shapes to it, as long as there’s a section with all the bars visible 😊
what’s a book cover that you love the design of?

I once did a book cover for my project in school. Twilight was one of my favourite movies so I did a book design with that it was a fun project for me
If you want to create guides for the spine just add a 2 column gutter the size of your spine when setting up the document. 😊

When designing a book how do you think about what kind font/typeface
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a book about a single man in possession of a good fortune looking for a wife, must be in want of a cover.
