if you want to learn about bookbinding more feel free to look at my other videos here or on my patreon - / beautifullybound
This was SO helpful for a newbie like myself. I've just gotten into bookbinding and watching a video that isn't 10x speed (like everything on TikTok!) is really valuable at this stage. Thank you!!
p.s. I, too, was sweating with you on the cover reveal! haha
This is so beautiful. I'm in the middle of making Manacled. You did an awesome job.
Thankyou so much! 🥰 Good luck with your manacled bind!
How do you guys get printed versions of these? Are they like $100+ to buy or do you print them somewhere?
What a great tip! I thought I'd have to get a sublimation printer to print images onto covers like that. Thank you for showing me a new world of possibilities! 🤩
this is such a stunning bind! i love the silver and white, it looks so amazing! i'm planning on making a rebind that involves printable htv, so this video was really helpful too
Cheers! I've just taken up bookbinding and this is helpful.
I just found your video at the perfect time :) Thank you for sharing!
It’s AMAZING!! I’m about to bind a book for the first time and your videos are so helpful, thank you ❤️
Hey there. That looked GREAT!
Im really trying getting into Bookbinding, wanted to start off with just transferin Paperback to Hardcover. Think is... I would really like to know which Printer and Stuff i need.
Do You know, which kind of printer would work with both Bookprinting (doubleside and Materialtolerance) and Transferfoil? Or do u need seperate Printers for that? Do they tolerate thicker Paper?
Whats the cutting machine? Can i use a normal iron for the htv? How about full Colorcover? I only saw Covers made with all kind of matierals but no Fullhardcover in Color. Do u know how that works?
Would love an answer.
great tutorial thank you
What about darkish purple? Would I use dark one?
can you show how to make a typeset in Google Docs
Lovely job, thank you for sharing! Do the ethics surrounding binding apply to rebinding purchased books as well? I haven’t found a whole lot about that yet. Most of what I want to do is rebinding books I already have vs fan fiction.
So the ethics for rebinds are not the same for ff binding, if you purchase the book from a bookshop, amazon ect then you are giving the author their royalty so after that you can rebind to your hearts content. Obviously I am not a lawyer sop there may be a legal avenue I am not explaining correctly but from my knowlage as long as you have purchased the book in some form and not downloaded it illegally then it is aye ok.
Thank you!
How did you add the flower pages on the inside cover? I absolutely love that. Could you please do a short video on that and tag me in it if it all possible
Hi! These are called endpapers or end-pages, I have a tutorial on how to apply them in my video 'casing in a book'
Thank you for this tutorial. Please consider using a more readable font in the future, I struggled with this one.
Also, please give links to art pieces that you use for covers
Please may I ask what paper it is that you’ve used to print your text block. It’s so pretty.
The paper brand I use has gone put of business unfortunately but I aim to gat a 80GSM cream or off white paper
This is really helpful. I've been binding books for over a year now, out-of-copyright classics, and I'm happy with everything but my covers. I've just ordered a Cricut, but I'm fairly certain it won't be able to handle the complexity of the drawings I want to use. It looks like transfer paper would probably be good for those images. If I've got this right, you used your printer to create the image and then had Cricut cut it out -- correct?
Yes that's right. I would suggest printable HTV though as since this video I've tried it out and IT WORKS WONDERS so I would recommend that 👌
@@beautifullybound Thanks!
You make this look so easy ahh
Where did you buy the book cloth?
I get most of my supplies from Traditional Bookbinding Australia 🇦🇺 ☺️
What paper did you use for the image transfer?
what paper did you use for your text block?
This is gorgeous 😍 Can I ask what type of Cricut you’re using?
I have a Cricut Explore Air 2 (mint green of course 🌱🌿)
Do you also make dusk jackets?
I do! I'll hopefully have a video on them in the near future either here on YT or on my Patreon 🌷💕
YES PLEASE 😂 I'M DESPERATE FOR ALL THE HELP I CAN GET. @@beautifullybound
How do you determine how big the spine gap should be?
@BryantDevon the gap between the front cover and the spine is called "the hinge" and you want to make sure that it is a generous gap so the cover can easily open. Between 8mm and 1cm is what I always recommend for a book around A5 size or half letter ect. Something smaller like a little booklet or notepad can be 5mm or something smaller.
@@beautifullybound thank you so much! I'm a photographer and I want to make my own photo albums for my clients with my pages made from mat boards for slip ins. I'm having such a hard time finding out the best way to bind and make my pages.
Thats such a cool idea! I would suggest looking up 'bookbinding stubs'. It's a technique where you sew and glue thinner paper and then attach photo inserts or drawing paper ect to the thinner paper 'stubs'
That might be helpful for your photo books 🌷💕
Hey. I was wondering what book cloth you used? As in is it leather or other material? It's not very clear but I love the look and can't find something else besides leather and cloth😊
It's traditional buckram bookcloth 🥰 i got mine from traditionalbookbinding.com.au/
Hiii! I just started bookbinding recently and I have the same t-shirt transfer paper and mini Cricut heat press iron as you, but I can’t seem to get the photo to transfer 😭😭😭 do you have any tips? You make it look so easy but it just doesn’t stick 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Never mind. I’m dumb. For anyone wondering (specifically for this brand of photo transfer paper): for the light shirt transfer paper, keep the back protector sleeve on, iron it facing down so you HAVE to print the photo mirrored. For dark shirts, DO NOT MIRROR, peel the back off and iron the photo facing you. LMAO I’m so stupid
@moony9496 glad I could help 🤣
@@beautifullybound you did such a beautiful job with this book!! But word of advice for those who are about to start book binding: please don’t throw out any packaging with instructions BAHAHA
What is the artist of the picture used? Very beautiful cover❤

Great content thanks. just some feedback you have a koveky voice but that repetitive tune in the background is driving me insane !
