This is such a good idea! Paperback versions of books are always so much more affordable but hardbacks just feel nicer. Now I have a new project to see me through the winter (most of my favourite book series are in paperback ... for now).
I'd never seen the tip of using an iron to help remove the covers before - I love it when I learn a new tip/technique 👍 I do really like the pace of your videos and your voice is really good for me (I'm getting on a bit and sometimes I find things hard to follow). I have to agree with Srestha - you do deserve more subscribers.
This looks awesome! Although I have made my own notebooks before, I’ve never really dared to change my book covers, but now I really want to! Some tips like the iron to remove the covers are new to me, and I’d love to try that gilded image technique. You took away the fear of me ‘ruining’ my books, so I’ll definitely give it a try now! Thank you!
@@extracozydiy I even have a candidate lined up lol 😅 my ‘Little Woman’ book is in dire need of a repair session (I have no idea what happened for it to be in such a bad condition) it’s the perfect candidate to try all of these techniques instead of just trying to patch it
thank you so much for this tutorial, i’ve just finished my first book and i’m so excited!! some advice from my mistakes for anyone covering or binding their first book - make sure to double check the placement of the text block in the covers, i’m not sure quite what i did wrong the first time but even with leaving an unglued cm of endpaper, my book could just not lay flat (i think maybe i shoved the book too far back into the spine??) - after nerve wrackingly prying my endpaper off the covers, i re-positioned it and clipped it into place to check that it could open properly before gluing the second time - would recommend doing this initially to save yourselves some very tedious procedures if you’re not 100% sure 🙈
I've been struggling to figure out how to make the covers for ages now and this was the simplest, clearest video I've seen! Thank you so much! You do amazing work 😁
i just made my own hardcover for one of my books using this video! thank you so much for posting it here, it's so helpful. all your work is so beautiful, i hope someday to be able to bind books as well as you do!! :)
this is the most soothing video i've ever watched - the editing is so crisp, the visual aids are great, and your tutorial/way of speaking is just so nice to listen to!! not to mention how legitimately impressive the final product is :O
I just got so excited about the discovery of your channel and was anticipating all the hours of videos of yours I was going to be watching and then got so disappointed when I realised I’d already watched them all. PLEASE…MORE. PLEASE. And PLEASE can you add the next “instalment” to the book covers as your next upload showing how you did the individual covers. Love your content and now heading to iG to see what you have over there.
This is gorgeous! I'll have to do that with some of my favourite books. Would be nice to have them as a hardcover with a coverdesign I'll actually like.
My twilight cover was absolutely torn. I tried this, and it WORKED. Gave my copy of Mockingjay and Twilight customizations too. The cover also has my initials, and that's nice.
I absolutely love your videos on book binding! They’re the best ones on RUclips, such a nice aesthetic and explained so well and simply. And I love that you link the products you use! That’s so helpful and kind. I would love love love more videos from you on book binding!!
Omg, subscribed!! I have so many sofcover books that I love and dont have the heart to give/throw away, but the covers are falling apart. I will DEFINITELY be making them new covers now
I just couldn't wait to try this with one of my books! I took a horrible modern cover version of one of my Enid Blyton books and luckily I had pretty much all of the materials to turn it into a hardback book! I just used some canvas linen but luckily the glue didn't go through, and for my first try doing it abit rushed, it came out damn near perfect!!!! I will definitely be using this method when I recover a set of Harry Potter books in the near future, thankyou so much!!!
This looks amazing!!! And you make it seem very easy and doable. Looks like such a fun project to do with old books or less aesthetic books. Will definitely try this someday 👍
This is really gorgeous, well thought out and personalised. I loved and enjoyed the whole video. It makes me want to redo all my hard back cover books cause I have a whole shelf of them I'm dying to try this out! I'll give it a try when I get time, but until then, You just got a new subscriber and I'm here to stay. I'll binge watch the other videos right after this one.
Your books are so cool! And this is such a great tutorial! So easy to follow and well shot /edited. I'm not even planning on doing anything like this, but it was so fun to watch your process! I need to see how you decorated them now! 😍
Thanks for the video I followed almost exactly but with slight tweaks that became necessary but I think it was much easier than expected and this was the best video I found to follow along with. Thanks, I ordered a hardback textbook and got a paperback and figured I’d do it myself and it turned out great.
Thank you! This was clear and easy to follow. I'd always wondered how it worked, and with other videos I feel like maybe they skip some things. Well done!
Just started following your tutorial, you managed to explain everything in such a simple and effective way that recreating this was super easy and fun !
I just used this technique to make a hardcover for an old book that no longer had a cover and it worked so well i am so proud of myself thank you for this incredible tutorial
Thank you for such a clear tutorial. I’ve been wondering about rebinding some of my old favorite paperbacks that are looking quite beat up. This looks very doable, especially for things that would be hard to replace with pretty covers.
randomly stumbled upon this vid and it gave me the thought to give my sketchbook a hardcover, so I'll prolly be revisiting this video again. Thank you for sharing! I hope to see how to decorate the hardcover with paper :)
this is so cool! I would really love if you could make a version for paper covers, I don't really have anywhere to buy linen covers, and even the Amazon shipping would be a bit too much, I would really love to do a paper version.
just stumbled upon your channel and this was the first video I have seen entirely in a long while! your voice is soothing and all the instructions so very clear.. peanuts! :)
I just found your channel and I am absolutely in love with you. You got me hypnotized. I actually wanted to remake book cover I just didn't know how and put it off for a year or two... thank you
I just spent and entire 13 hours making this hard cover for only one of my Percy Jackson books lol and now I’ve glued the text block to the cover and so far it’s looking great and I just have to wait over night this is a great tutorial and it’s very clear and easy to follow and I had everything at home so highly recommend this tutorial for people looking in the comments to see if it’s worth it (the hardest part is ripping the original cover off)
WOW Stunning - thank you so much, we have so many paperbacks we want to keep this is the most amazing technique to save and upgrade them!!!! Keep the videos coming -
I had an old text block with the cover missing for many years from a book I've had since high school - the silver kiss - it's really not all that great of a book if I'm honest, after a reread as an adult, but the nostalgia makes it a special book to me. I followed this tutorial to rebind it. Ngl, I made the hinges a bit small I think so it can't lay flat haha, but I love it so much. Thanks 10000x for making this. I'm going to rebind a lot of my books !
I've been wanting to do this for a long time and I'm so glad I found your video! I followed all the instructions word by word and it worked out perfectly 🥰
Not only was the entire video wonderfully explained, it was very pleasant to simply watch and enjoy, and your work is gorgeous!! I am interested in how to use paper instead of fabric for the covers! I would really appreciate it if you made a video about it and how to reinforce the folding or if you could point me in the right direction with a few sources talking about it!
I loved watching your walkthrough 🥰 I enjoyed book binding while at university (so long ago now!) so thank you for the motivation to get back into book binding!
getting back into bookbinding after a few years and wanted to make sure i remembered everything right haha. this video was great and your voice is lovely 🥰 will likely make the cover with faux leather but worried the book is a little thin to pull it off. i hope it goes well lol

I was always scared to ruin my books, but your tutorial is so clear that it actually is as easy as it looks.
