Learning so much from you! Thanks for this video and all the rest😊 Out of curiosity, how do you get your pages so neatly aligned? Do you use a guillotine to neatly trim the foredge?
@@appleslions4934 no guillotine at all, just a few years of practising 🥰
wahhh <3
beautiful!! makes me want to read ACOTAR 😆
Left a review just now!! Excited to take advantage of the sale😊. How do I redeem it?
@@appleslions4934 You will receive an email with the coupon code inside 🌷💕 thankyou so much for leaving a review
@@beautifullybound got the email, tysm! appreciate your channel so much<3
This was an absolutely amazing video! Even with all the frustration of redoing your project, you were still so graceful and patient ❤
@@yvonnelove1161 I'm so glad you liked my realistic take on this 🌷💕 even my mess ups 😂
@@beautifullybound I absolutely loved it, and I learned so much from the problems that you had. That's what makes it stick within my memory. I will be watching your posts regularly. I also subscribed to your channel. Keep up the good work!
It looks lovely! How did you get that embossed effect for the title?
It's all done with HTV vinyl 🥰
@@beautifullybound thank you so much!!
I bought one of the sets and it's awesome! 10/10 would recommend
@@yazminamber624 I'm so glad 😊
thats pretty cool ngl
How do you paint the ends of your books? Like what do you use I mean? Also it is absolutely gorgeous ❤❤
@@frankie2366 i use water couler paints 🎨
Absolutely beautiful!
A thing that I LOVED on your video is that you show all your frustrations and the times that went wrong. When I first bought my cricut I was so stressed and disappointed because all the videos I saw were of everything nice, like they made it seem is amazing, and a lot of times it is too stressful, because sometimes it takes us a lot more time than we think . It turns out very beautiful ❤
@edilmav.m2498 nothing ever turns out perfect and I'm glad I can reassure people through my videos that we all screw up once in a while 😭
illustrice is a one person operating small business 🥰 she creates amazing products out of the love she has for the fandom, she is not a mass corporation, just someone who loves fandom 🌷💕
What a great tip! I thought I'd have to get a sublimation printer to print images onto covers like that. Thank you for showing me a new world of possibilities! 🤩
Wonderful! Thanks for this!
What software are you using? Can you do this in Microsoft Word or Photoshop?
@@mollietenpenny4093 im using Microsoft Word 💕
@@beautifullybound Thank you! I'm so glad that I don't have to invest in an expensive software. 😅 Were you using Microsoft Word in dark mode?
@mollietenpenny4093 yes it's on dark mode so it probably looks like something else at forat glance 😂
You did such an amazing job! Love your videos!
@@JUdeWULF awww thankyou so much 💖
These covers are insane! 😱 Absolutely incredible work!!!
@@LinneaJarn thankyou sm 🥰
I am a fan of Felix Titling, but it is NOT free for commercial. You need a license.
@operaguy1 hi! Don't worry i used this typeset for personal use or non profit commissions so no money was ever generated from it. But thankyou for spreading awareness about the importance of licensing
As a for-profit author, I restrict myself to Google fonts for this very reason. I don't even use the Microsoft fonts included in Windows or Office. Not even Garamond! I use the Google font EBGaramond.
My substitute for Felix Titling is "Gilda Display."
How do you determine how big the spine gap should be?
@BryantDevon the gap between the front cover and the spine is called "the hinge" and you want to make sure that it is a generous gap so the cover can easily open. Between 8mm and 1cm is what I always recommend for a book around A5 size or half letter ect. Something smaller like a little booklet or notepad can be 5mm or something smaller.
@@beautifullybound thank you so much! I'm a photographer and I want to make my own photo albums for my clients with my pages made from mat boards for slip ins. I'm having such a hard time finding out the best way to bind and make my pages.
Thats such a cool idea! I would suggest looking up 'bookbinding stubs'. It's a technique where you sew and glue thinner paper and then attach photo inserts or drawing paper ect to the thinner paper 'stubs' That might be helpful for your photo books 🌷💕
I am sorry. I tuned out as soon as I realized the text was left unjustified. Right away it stops looking like a book and looks like a school report. 😢
Aw no worries! I have really awful dyslexia so for me it helps to read left to right and have it justified that way but thats why I always emphasise that hobbyist bookbinding always comes down to personal preference ❤ I used to have all my books centred but it is easier for my eyes this way so I made the switch.
@@beautifullybound that’s a good reminder: We have to make these things for OURSELVES, and not for custom or any “that’s how it’s done” talk. The important thing is that you MADE it and made it the way you needed and wanted it. Good lesson for me. ;)
:( what about chloe's ppe
Don't worry! She's wearing a state of the art invisable mask 😷 ✨️ she was also scared of the paint so she didn't hang around long
The very fact that you even consider a laser as a book printing mechanism shows that you are not a serious binder. The question sometimes comes to dye vs pigment. In fact the more I listen to your reasoning the more mistakes I hear. Good luck, but I hope no one listens to your advice.
God you're so right, she should be using a printing press like a *real* binder. What a pleb. No one takes binding seriously any more it's a dying art 😤
What an interesting way of saying you don’t know a single thing about professional print and bind businesses 🤭
This...has got to be satire, right? 😂😂😂
The fact that you wrote this comment shows you're a bitter and sad person with no knowledge of what you speak and too much free time on your hands. Good luck, I hope you get to become better in the future.
Bro wtf. If you’re gonna state your own personal opinion then go ahead, but don’t be an a$$ about it. The things you say can hurt people.
Hi! what do you use to print and apply the gold on top? is it vinyl?
I use Cruict iron on vinyl 💕
Hi, doesn't the end papers pull off of the laminated parts on the covers???
Hi! To avoid this I use a high quality glue that can stick to smooth surfaces, if you don't have access to a glue like this or if you prefer PVA or something similar try sanding down the surface of the laminate gently to create a rough surface for the glue to latch onto and fuse to the end paper. Hope that made sense!
@@beautifullybound Which glue would you suggest
Hiii! I just started bookbinding recently and I have the same t-shirt transfer paper and mini Cricut heat press iron as you, but I can’t seem to get the photo to transfer 😭😭😭 do you have any tips? You make it look so easy but it just doesn’t stick 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Never mind. I’m dumb. For anyone wondering (specifically for this brand of photo transfer paper): for the light shirt transfer paper, keep the back protector sleeve on, iron it facing down so you HAVE to print the photo mirrored. For dark shirts, DO NOT MIRROR, peel the back off and iron the photo facing you. LMAO I’m so stupid
@moony9496 glad I could help 🤣
@@beautifullybound you did such a beautiful job with this book!! But word of advice for those who are about to start book binding: please don’t throw out any packaging with instructions BAHAHA
Thank you for this tutorial. Please consider using a more readable font in the future, I struggled with this one. Also, please give links to art pieces that you use for covers
What paper did you use for the image transfer?
what paper did you use for your text block?
Hey. I was wondering what book cloth you used? As in is it leather or other material? It's not very clear but I love the look and can't find something else besides leather and cloth😊
It's traditional buckram bookcloth 🥰 i got mine from traditionalbookbinding.com.au/
Are your inserts printed on vellum?? I’m hoping to do some inserts for a Manacled bind I’ve been prepping for.
Yes they are done on velum ✨️ i recommend using a laser printer to reduce smudges
It’s AMAZING!! I’m about to bind a book for the first time and your videos are so helpful, thank you ❤️
This is so good! Do you have any tips for making your in book art/pictures looking so nice? Mine don’t look as good printed
Thankyou! It definitely depends on your printers dpi or image quality pixels per inch value, if you have a printer that costs like 20 bucks the dpi will probably be really crap but if it's not that it may just be that your ink is dry if you haven't used your printer in a while
It looks so good !!!
This is stunning 😍 How'd you get the cover to shimmer like that?
Cricut
I LIKE THE WAY AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I just watched your video on how to make a typeset do I just print the exact same or is it done differently with the typeset I have
How do you manage to fold them so neatly?
Years of practice. And folding them against a wall corner when I was starting out, but that doesn't sound as cool...
Could this method work for glossy cardstock?
Thank you for the excellent video! It's the only one I've found that emphasizes the alternating pattern of the stitches. I could not figure out what I was doing wrong until watching this. Cheers!
This is really helpful. I've been binding books for over a year now, out-of-copyright classics, and I'm happy with everything but my covers. I've just ordered a Cricut, but I'm fairly certain it won't be able to handle the complexity of the drawings I want to use. It looks like transfer paper would probably be good for those images. If I've got this right, you used your printer to create the image and then had Cricut cut it out -- correct?
Yes that's right. I would suggest printable HTV though as since this video I've tried it out and IT WORKS WONDERS so I would recommend that 👌
@@beautifullybound Thanks!
This is super helpful! Thank you! I'm an author and was thinking of doing some special edition handbound prints of some of my books (15th anniversary coming up soon). Do you have a follow-up video somewhere of how you set the page size and mirrored margins? I just subscribed :)
Hi! I'm so glad this video helped you, I am planning a follow up video for margins and paper sizing ect ect but in the mean time if you really want more content I do have a patreon where I have my margins listed at the moment. But one will come here in the future too 💕
would there be a way to do this with a spine design too instead of using the black? also, thanks for the video!
Yes absolutely! You would need to be careful in your measuring but you can absolutely do it that way too. Just make sure you are using a thick cardstock
These are so professionally done. Love it
not only are they BEAUTIFUL but omg the article inserts!!!
These are amazing
How did you do tge sprayed edges? Who did them?
I hand painted them 🌷💕
@@beautifullybound wow. So talented. Pretty good. Wonderful job
Hey! Could you tell me how to achieve the font finish?
Hi - I was just wondering how much gap you leave between the spine and the front and back cover when glueing them onto the book cloth? Thanks so much in advance
Hi! I tend to use 8mm or 1cm for a hinge (the gap between spine and front/back cover) and tend to just alternate depending on what I think suits the book more.
