Imagine being on a Star Destroyer that is traveling through deep space when there is a mechanical failure - the engineers determine it should be fixed within a day or two but then officers and other Stormtroopers like you begin getting reports that something is attacking personnel in the brig, as you make your way down there it becomes abundantly clear something has utterly annihilated the security detail along with the prisoners, lights flickering and blood trails all over the place with mouse droids smacking into the walls as If they too have malfunctioned.
Deep within the ship, a wailing can be heard and as you try to find the source, your helmet's hud system begins to act up and even giving you false alerts that something is close to you but you see nothing.
The power goes out and you're left in the dark navigating through a corridor of death as that feeling you're being watched intensifies to the point where you feel like something is touching you through your armor - you take off running and can hear something chasing you and that wailing picks up with it coming from behind you, you feel something go through you and faint.
Hours later, you awake with all 10,000 personnel on the ship being unresponsive on coms and something causing the ships internal communication system to fail.
You're training has prepared you for combat against rebels and pirates but whatever is on the ship is beyond your training and beyond the realm of the normal and now you find yourself stuck trying to survive until you find a way off the vessel or locate a force user prisoner who was being held so you both can escape the thing that's haunting the stricken vessel.

you could make a pretty sick horror game about the star weirds, travelling deep space in a ship, occasionally going outside to do repairs or maintenance, finding other stranded vessels and such, fully open to explore with all the events happening at random rather than predetermined

It would have been a really cool episode on Star Wars the Clone Wars. Obi Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka coming back from a mission flying back to Corusant through Hyperspace, when suddenly they see something, and it gets on their ship, would have been a really cool horror themed episode.
Would be best if it took place on a big Military Vessel, and it's them and the Starweird playing cat and mouse, with the trio having to figure out what it is and how they can kill it.
If the Yuuzhan Vong episode concept wasn't axed by Disney's takeover then this would've been possible 😔

The fact there is not Light Side equivalent to a starweird has me thinking. Either this means that the Light Side if the Force isn't potent enough to manifest such an entity or that such entities did once exist but were wiped out by the starweirds long ago in some ancient war for dominion over the spiritual plane of the galaxy.
Or maybe they we're created by some ancient dark side cabal. That may explain why there's no light side equivalent, because they aren't natural.

Imagine if a Force Ghost became Vengeful and bitter, with someone like Vader putting together a project like what was done in the 13 Ghost 2001 film. Vader would do to Luke what the main Antagonist in that film did to Tony S. (Monk) with Vader unlocking a Force Ghost from a Glass Cell every few mins and testing Lukes Abilities!
I think that it’s scarier when it’s more mysterious and don’t want it to appear in movies or shows because I feel like it would make it less scary

Definitely need the horror aspect in star wars to remind people that space and the unknown regions are terrifying and uncharted for a very very good reason..
This would be awesome to see in a Star Wars movie, but I think it would be considered to horror-ish for a Disney Star Wars. I'm not sure Lucas would have approved this either.

Hi, I meant as a movie, I don't think George would have done it. He seemed to want a mixture of fun and adventure for the big screen with very few kid scaring moments.
He seemed to give more leeway to the books.
I think someone could make a cool story about a Jedi who fled during Order 66 and began training in the force by defeating Starweirds

Reminds me a lot of chaos daemons in Warhammer 40k. They are both incorporeal entities (in the daemons' cases they are not really ethereal but normal weapons cannot kill them) that can attack ships moving through space, slaughtering the crew or turning them insane. These daemons also have a certain attraction towards psykers, the Warhammer equivalent of force users
I really like the idea of the star weird being a species manifested purely from the presence of strong dark side energies in the galaxy and also like their mystery but id hate for them to become too flushed out making them lose that trait
Since these tend to come from the Unknown Regions and there aren't really accounts of sith encountering them, I wonder if these are of Rakatan origin. Something similar to the ghosts and zombies sith lords can manifest but of a distinctly different flavor.
The starweird are also come from the outer rim too.
I would love to know if there is a way to capture or contain a Starwyrd, since they have no corporeal form it would be interesting to know if you could trap them so they cannot do anymore harm. Overall, they are very fascinating creatures and I love how there is so much ambiguity surrounding them, it makes them more terrifying to be a creature that we don't understand. It also makes so much sense, since you either mostly don't survive an encounter with one or don't come across them.

@@kingofmonsters2063 I did forget about those, that would make much sense. I just wonder, if they are purely a being created from the dark side if it could hold that. Star Wars is just an interesting rabbit hole that you can always find new questions about.

@@whitestar7641 if you want something that basically goes down that rabbit hole to the extreme then I recommend checking out Supernatural Encounters. There's an extended version being worked on as we speak and it will be truly massive. Think of SW having something akin to The Silmarillion + Lovecraft inspiration mixed and marinated to form one giant story. That's what SE is going to be...

For once I want to hear that the Unknown Regions were explored and found nothing to special. At best that part of the galaxy would be used for raw materials when the other planets died.
The Chiss Ascendancy found many of these IIRC. The First and Final Orders also exploited other worlds for raw materials in this area.
True, but what about a reality where there just isn't very much interest outside of minor exploration? People can come and go as they please, but there is nothing interesting for a very long time.

That’s probably the norm. People go through unknown regions all the time as evidenced by people treating going through them like a casual thing. You here stories about the zone being dangerous because “we mined. It was peaceful” is a difficult story to make fun.
If Star weirds ever make an appearance it should be in a mandalorian episode on Moff Gideon’s cruiser. Mando and grogu travel to Bo Katan to help liberate mandalore. But they are quickly pushed back by a large imperial remnant. The ship enters hyper space. The hyper drive malfunctions and the cruiser is stuck in deep space days away from any nearby planet.
wierd phenomenons start happening in the ship. Lights start flickering crates are thrown by themselves and droids are found powerless or torn apart. Later in the episode lifeless mandalorian are later found With walls covered in blaster marking. the episode should revolve around mando trying to protect grogu from these force entities. That is a Halloween special I would absolutely shit my pants for. Lol anyways I am no story writer and I failed English class for a reason so forgive my bad punctuation. 🫠
Imagine the force it self as a being punishing force users who abuse it I imagine it would look like a half dark and light entity merged together.

I just realized the starweird is somewhat similar to SCP-096. Since when you look at it, you are pretty much done for.
I want to see Jedi vs formidable species which is from the deep space. They start to attack the galaxy. Jedi Order has to protect the galaxy from them. But I guess this concept might be used in Star wars eclipse since I saw some weird species which look like Valdermort in Harry potter. There’s a scene that they appear from the black pond. They might have some cool abilities that can fight against Jedi order.
Concerning the name - weird originally meant "destiny, fate" or "related to destiny/fate" and was often applied to the Fates from classical mythology. Not sure if that's the main idea behind starweirds but still
If they’re almost unstoppable, what preventing the Starweirds from entering the known regions of the Galaxy and hunt people there? Can they just land on a habitable planet and kill everyone there?
Perhaps due to the connections people form, the Light Side of the Force keeps them there with a sort of barrier.

Starweirds are only found in the Unknown Regions, Wild Space and the Outer Rim regions in Star Wars legends. The same can be said for canon too.

I like how they changed them a little bit for canon in the comic that made them canon it seems like it’s an actual living physical creature instead of a ghost but blasters are still useless cause they bounce off of it but it was able to cut get its arm off with a lightsaber plus apparently they can destroy planets in canon according to Aayla Secura definitely my favorite obscure thing in Star Wars tho in canon or legends

It’s unlikely that Disney would probably allow the Star Weirds to be brought into cannon or at the very least not in all their horrific glory. If they do bring them in they’ll probably tone down the more horrific elements of them or possibly won’t allow them to be shown on screen. The comics maybe but they’d probably be too terrifying to show on screen especially with Star Wars being geared towards kids, and such creatures would be very traumatizing to most kids. Most likely if they do bring them into cannon it’ll be only in name only. Because these things are just too creepy. But then again they made those Spider things cannon and those would probably trigger a lot of Arachnophobia so I could be wrong.

Biggest difference between a Starweird and a Banshee is... a Banshee isn't actually malevolent. Their screams and wails are just warnings and a sort of 'bell' signifying the death of someone important, and an entire group would mean something horrific is about to happen.

I keep coming back to these older lore videos. With the Starweird being canon now. I hope in the sequel to Jedi Survivor it becomes a multi stage boss fight. It would make the Rayvis boss fight from Survivor seem like a walk in the park. lol

The only way to avoid or get rid of a starweird. The answer isn't simple or straightforward. First avoid going into Wild Space and the Outer Rim, at all costs. Because that's where the starweird is located.
Secondly if you're going through the Outer Rim or Wild Space. Make sure that your ship is at top condition, working order and has enough fuel.
And there is zero chances of your ship breaking down in the middle of nowhere. Also make sure that neither you or anyone else on your vessel is a Jedi/Sith or force-sensitive.
It's true that the starweird will dine on any living being. But they specifically hunt for force welders.
If all else fails. Do not look at the starweird.
Even if they attempt to trick you with visions. Do not stop to help stranded ships in space. For their fate is already sealed.
If you're Jedi, Sith or force-sensitive encountering a starweird. I wouldn't suggest attacking it with your lightsaber, blaster or physical attacks. It will only phase through them like ghosts.
The only way to destroy a starweird is with any type of powerful force related attack and potentially light-side force powers too.
I would also highly recommend your ship having force fields. It prevents the starweird from phasing through your ship.
Finally here's my own personal advice. If you're a force-sensitive traveling through Wild Space or the Outer Rim of space. Use the force ability "Force Stealth." In order to avoid the starweird.
Force stealth was a power that was used by highly skilled Force-sensitives to mask their Force alignment (Light or Dark), their ability to use the Force, or even their entire presence from other Force-sensitives.

Disney should make a: horror, gore and violence animated series of horrors in the unknown region of space in Star Wars galaxy.
Humm Force DARKSIDE Ghosts of a sort.. would indeed explain why these are so ridiculously dangerous an seek to kill or drive insane anyone they come across with a DIRECT preference an hyper agression an intelligent ill intent towards Jedi specifically. Seeing as actual Sith are, I think, about the ONLY other thing with any real intelligence with a laser like hyper focused HATE of Jedi even to the point every other living thing turns into background noise. Least till they're dealt with.
I have a non-canon star wars story, where my Sith was attacked by a star weird after he was sent on a suicide mission in the Unknown Region by Palpatine because he feared Munity due to my Siths dark and destructive nature.
The weird was able to get into the Siths head but due to his connection to the dark side, he broke it and slipt the star weird in half, before two star destroyer showed up and pirates of the Caribbean [iykyk], my Siths ship.
Starwierds huh? Sounds creepy. The fact that they normally seek out force users and that force users are the only ones that can take them out is intriguing. Since they are a living darkside, I wonder if they know how to use the darkside and what powers they use.

They are and yet are not, Banshees have changed from what they once were. They are not even named Banshees by their origins, they are Bean Sidhes. The Starweirds, or Starwyrds, are modern Banshees as Banshees have evolved from their true nature and origins. They may be Banshees, but they are not Bean Sidhes.

But the Bean Sidhe have changed, they are not visualized or thought of as they once were, this is poor adaptions, but it is still a change. I honestly hate the name Starweird. There is so much great stuff to be brought to film other than “space nazis”and “cloaked raisins”. I’m going to be moving on to more legends books because of these videos. I’ve made it to Jedi search. I hope these Outer realm creatures are in my near future.
