My 2 year old asked to find a video of the metro on RUclips, we found this and both really enjoyed watching it! You’re presenting is excellent and learnt so much about my local area that I wouldn’t normally bother looking into otherwise 😊
Greetings from Ireland, thank you for your video which I enjoyed very much. I like to visit Newcastle and the general area as I have an interest in the history of the Jarrow Crusade. I always make sure to visit Whitley Bay as well and have a walk on the sands and a pint uptown! I find the people very friendly and hospitable. Hope to be back late Sept/early Oct now that lockdown restrictions are easing.
Did you know the Spanish City used to have a Vekoma corkscrew that was identical to the one that used to be at Alton Towers! I believe the one at Spanish City moved to Flamingo Land In the 80’s and I’m not sure where it ended up after that
My Home town ! Excellent stuff. You should (if you have not already) go further 45 minute drive North and visit the castles of Alnwick, Bamburgh, Dunstanburg and of course visit Holy Island -Lindisfarne.
Loved this video 📹 Happy memories We had Caravan on the park there Lovely Shops And lots more to see In Whitley Bay And Seeing St Mary's Lighthouse again was a Dream seeing 5hat again Thankyou For Sharing this x
Great video Shaun, nice to see my home city and surrounding area on RUclips, my advice if you want to take in more of the metro system would have been to get off at Whitley bay get back on at monkseaton and get back off at North Shields, then get the ferry (as part of your day saver ticket) over to South Shields and head back into Newcastle from South Shields metro. Reading other comments though - Beamish and holy island are great shouts to visit, and it is a great shame you didn't get to walk over to the lighthouse
Excellent video Shawn Spent a lot of my youth at the Spanish City The corkscrew that used to be there was my first coaster credit If you get the chance do the main line from Newcastle to Berwick amazing views

Going round the Wallsend Percy main route I’m shocked you haven’t been jumped. Great video, lovely to see you visit my home town. If you’re ever back up here I’d recommend giving tynemouth a go. Lovely on a summers day.
Great video If you want some more amazing views you should go to The isle of Wight and ride on the Needles Breezer from Alum bay along the cliff road to the Battery which is a bus only road.
looks like you experienced a classic newcastle local activity known as the "metro mission" aka going around on the metro all day when there is nothing better to do
Visit saint Michel's mount in Cornwall Penzance best views up in castle amazing cafe as tow with A path through the sea to a island jam packed with a tonne of things to do its really good
This is so weird I watch all the TPW videos and suddenly i find this channel, and the last video was about Whitley Bay right next to where I live, what a coincidence
2 metro fun facts. Monument metro station is one of the only metro stations in the world where the same line passes through it twice and the signs at Wallsend metro station are in english and latin since it is right next to the old roman fort segedunum.

hi Shaun. I recommend you visit the wonderful city of Lille in Northern France. It is easily accessible from central London. I know how you love metro systems and Lille has a very cool and cute system. The city is also full of culture and history. Also contains some wonderful French architecture. If you are to visit the brilliant Belgian and French theme parks, Lille is a great city to stay within as it is nestled between the fabulous two countries. i hope you take this location into consideration after the awful Covid 19 pandemic is over and done with. I am loving your videos on TPW and can see great potential for this channel aswell.
Just FYI there is another metro line that goes all the way from Newcastle Airport through Newcastle and then onto Sunderland which is where I am from :)
That’s an odd train design. Never seen anything like that with the front window seat other than on driverless systems. Really cool feature, though I imagine probably not too great for the driver. Shame you didn‘t get to try out the Hamburg metro back when you visited miniature wonderland. It‘s got the most scenic line on any metro in the world imo. Love AdventureShawn so far, right up my alley.
I love your videos! They are especially nice as we are all stuck at home during this pandemic. I can't seem to find your video from Dubai at the tallest bldg. How do I find it? There are so many...Thank you!
AdventureShawn it’s just old now the whole system but for a lot of years very reliable quick good value but they are going to upgrade the whole thing carriages they lot
I’m actually going to Whitley bay next week. Travelling from Manchester to Newcastle, but wandering how far the metro is from the train station so we can catch the metro to Whitley bay.
The Metro station is actually directly underneath the main train station at Newcastle and there are signs showing the entrance. You'll enjoy Whitley Bay, it's my home town. Get off at the Whitley bay Metro station to get to the town centre, but if you are heading to the lighthouse and the north end of the beach, better and shorter to get off the metro at Monkseaton station
@@brianmorrison9168 I love to visit the area and I travel over from Ireland once a year. I have an interest in the history of the Jarrow Crusade and like to visit Whitley Bay for a walk on the beach as well. @@tomoconnorwex Hi, probably about 2 miles ... just a little bit shorter than it would be from W/Bay station. Which part of ireland are you from .. I used to live in Holywood, near Belfast I've done a few videos too, many showing Metro journeys in the area and I also did ane showing the Jarrow Crusade statue. There's another showing the Stan Laurel statue, in North Shields
@@brianmorrison9168 Hi Brian, many thanks for the quick reply. I did the walk over and back from the W/Bay station once and found it just a bit too long. I do recall having a cup of tea and a pastry at a really nice old style coffee shop on the walk by the beach. Although, I have no connection to the area whatsoever, I have come to love the place, especially places along the Metro line and find the Geordies ever so kind and friendly. I'm from the ROI but know Belfast well and travelled up a lot to Queens University and Malone Road area over the years. I visited the Museum at South Shields to do some research on the Crusade but I found that most of the material seems to be at Jarrow Town Hall , which I hope to visit next time. I shall have a look for your vids and view them later if they're still online. Tx again!
