Omg I went there about 40 years ago on a mystery trip as a kid , I dropped my 10p through boardwalk about half way down pier, it landed on a girder could see it but not get it , I was so upset. Your vlog brought back so many memories thanks Shawn.
I haven't been since before the 04 fire. Though, on the day of it, my brother was there on a school trip. Also, I'm sure I remember an arcade museum under the pier
OMG Shawn that's amazing I'm going to have to do this now I'd think to get my exercise I'd love to walk both ways it looks so good thanks 4 sharing dude
@@TheSanbrookeAdventures As a Southend resident, the idea of a roller coaster at the end was abhorrent - the charm of the pier is partly its 'get away from it all' feeling. There's plenty of amusements and rides at the shore end. Nice video.
Hello Shawn, interesting stuff and great Vlog throughout! Cheers Peter :-) p.s. keep it up! P.P.S. great commentary and editing, it was really informative throughout, so thank you for producing this.
Use to love bunking on there after dark when we was kids fishing for cod thornback Ray's and giant bass from the end nowadays your lucky to get a few pin head Whiting .that's if the pier cat doesn't knock your bait lol
Have you ever been to Hampton Court Palace as it was the home of King Henry? Very good pier railway. £5 will be cheap as chips which is what Mr Dickinson will say. LOL..
I figured you took the train back because you like trains. That walk seems like a drop in the bucket compared to how much walking you do in theme parks. :)

Didn't Jamie Oliver the naked chef film a series on this pier a few year ago? didn't see the cafe bit he used, unless it was just erected for the series. Thanks for your vlogs Sean always fun to watch on both channels.
I've been along Southport Pier the second longest pier in Britain but you can't get right to the top because the gates close at 9 oclock so you can't get right to the end I had to go the next morning but my next ambition is the longest one in Britain which is south end
you said longest pleasure pier in the world! does that also mean the longest pier of any kind in the world? please let me know! once again shawn doing outstanding work in on his other channel !! By the way , i love both channels!
Ive just done a Google search and yes the worlds longest pier is in Progreso Mexico, it’s basically a 4mile long road that goes out to a cruise liner terminal and it’s technically not a traditional pier as we know them as as it’s made up of rocks, have a look on Google maps 👍🏻
There used to be end-of-Pier amusements, before they burnt down. There also used to be a big amusement park called The Kursaal, a little way along the front, which must have been somewhat similar to Blackpool Pleasure Beach in its prime. The front entrance building of that is still there, but they built residential properties all over the rest of it. I remember going there in it’s final days, when just a small ride area was left. There was a wild mouse coaster, a rotor, a calypso, maybe a couple of other things. By that time, it was a sad mess. Southend has a lot of history when it comes to amusements.
Danielle Dewitt Someone likely through a lighted cigarette onto something flammable. A lot of fires used to get started like that, back when smoking was allowed in pretty much any public place.

Hi
Growing up in Southend it's funny when you hear how many boats have gone through the middle of it! Fires as well surprisingly
Two trains? It use to be only one years ago. I remember going crabbing as a kid with my parents, loved going to the bowling alley and the fire. Great video of my home town, so thank you

Southend pier sounds like a child imagined it. “It’s so long, you can take a train to the end”.
OMG! ha ha ha that's me and my friends running it at 7:09, shared to our club, thank you AdventureShawn, we run it often but it's great to get caught on film.

The Pier hs been shown many times on TV/pics etc in the past. Must of seen what it was like before this video over 2 years ago lol
An another nice video from Shawn, Thank you so much.

@@TheSanbrookeAdventures cheers
At one point they planned to build a massive roller coaster above the water adjacent to the pier.
Now that would of been awesome!
