The erosion of and apathy towards our democratic process has been occurring at a slow and steady pace over my 67 year lifetime. I visited the Soviet Union in the early 70’s. I was on both sides of the Berlin Wall then. In my arrogance and naïveté, upon returning to the US, I breathed a sigh of relief thinking it could never happen here… I was wrong, I’ve been so wrong. Please, good citizens, take the time to really dig deep and inform yourselves of facts and truth. Listen to and consider what others are feeling. Step back. Think critically. Then step up and get involved. It isn’t too late…yet. 🇺🇸

The word and worry is spreading daily and it is amazing. Mere store clerks have related their genuine concerns in passing. Prepare, yes, and pray more! Ultimately that is our best resource.
This movie looks ridiculous. California, Texas, and Florida form a coalition to overthrow and or secede from the US. Sure.... I'm sure our real enemies love this picture and hope it comes true!
We in the USA need journalist--the ones who report the news honestly and show both sides of the issues we face. Not Fox, who was so bad at spreading disinformation, and presenting the slanted views of Hannity and Carlson and Ingraham Fox had to pay $787.5 million.
Society needs journalists...WHO ARE NOT SERVING A POLITICAL AGENDA. Those are the kinds of journalists we NEED. Also, California and Texas teaming up on anything, is laughable.
Both states actually seceded and formed their own nation in the movie. It isn't really unbelievable if Washington attacked both, and they decided it'd be better to team up to survive.
Another point is that with our sick ideological minds, we are unable to see impartial journalists because any opinion that diverges from ours will be considered manipulation, we will end up calling it "political agenda". I think that a healthy mind comes from a good education that gives us critical minds capable of analyze every information, investigate and come to logical and reasonable conclusions instead of opinions guided by ideology
The inability of politicians to sit down and actually administrate and compromise. And the inability of the public to elect educated honest politicians and hold them to account via election is condemning this nation.

Thats just what the news and social media portray. Ive never witnessed an argument or anything in real life. When a car stalls i see people pulling over, i see people being polite most of the time. Dont listen to social media and the news, they’re disconnected from the people. If I didn’t have a smart phone id have no clue there was any division
Yeah the military post civil war was mixed up. The only reason civil war was possible was military units were all from area they were stationed. Units were formed in states from states population. With exception of guard units I don’t see any current military bases being loyal to state they’re located in. They made up of people from all the states.
Ideological wars would be the resource rich rural areas vs the population concentrated megacities. In states where the megacities rule the state, then those states will side with urban. Other states with only smaller cities or dispersed cities will be on the other side. Some states will be torn from the inside.

I would say we still haven't yet learned from he first civil war or the two world wars, or the many other conflicts and smaller wars. Mainly because learning from war is probably not going to involve only investing in war. Once we value our population for life and not just power through military sizes, then things my have outlook, but as of now we are still tasting the pee we urinated in the winds of 100 years ago.
“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.” Isaac Asimov, interview November 1982
You can draw forth a quote from an earlier age but in the 2024 United States those most responsible for the loss of esteem of intellectuals are the dime store version of "intellectuals" who dominate the academy and public discourse. If they're genuine intellectuals, intellectuals should have no part in the governance of the United States.
Remember, the students are not failing the education system. The education system is failing them. When the masses are uneducated, they are easier to control. History has shown that educated people have more interest and intelligence when it comes to political choices.
I think you nailed it, though education can be quite the double-edged sword. I'm reminded that psychology experts exist who use their education for the likes of behavioral marketing, of deep manipulation. Also, that think tanks exist to exploit our narrative natures 🤣 Somehow I don't think the intellectual architects of the modern conservative movement seriously believed that the layman had the intellectual discipline to handle their intellectually heavy endeavor/persuasion/philosophy. Decades later we're left with a nearly depleted subset of self-identified "true conservatives", and the predictable remainder who can't tell the difference between 'tempering passions' and outright obstruction to society's development, and they think they are America's essence, definition, torch and future. On the flip we have well-educated hypercapitalists using their intellects for business as usual. The erosion of the middle class was predicted almost a century ago. Comfortably, we let it happen. My theory, in short- the MCM held the door wide open for the neoliberal order by blockading its protesters, and of course via religion, religious patriotism and monopoly on values so that being a psychopath feels like wisdom.
If The students don’t want to study and doesn’t value education, how is the education failing the students. What proven data you have to claim education failing students?

Let's be blunt about it. Both sides, the left and the right, see this and start blaming the other side. As long as we point the finger to the other side, nothing will be fixed. What we need to start doing is looking within ourselves and ask ourself, "Am I doing or saying something, and what are the people I surround myself with, doing and saying, that is causing more divisiveness rather than unity?"
I'm sick of this kind of answer where you don't choose a side and want to seem neutral. Frankly speaking, sometimes things are just so obvious that it's just black and white. Call this sobering or call it a call to save humanity. I think we are so broken in this country that people may watch this movie and then go out and unleash the violence the movie projects. I know that sounds fatalistic...and I have not given in or given up. But I am concerned. I have looked into the faces of people who want to tear down the democratic institutions that are crumbling before us, and those faces look at me with pure hate.
Yes, I too, have confronted the hatred, fear and delusion of those who wish to see and commit violence against their fellow American. It is indeed disconcerting. Our enemies however, are rejoicing and awaiting our self-inflicted demise. They will then unleash their own hatred upon a crippled America, and the World!
@j.b.macadam6516 I hope what we are experiencing is just a nightmare that, come November, we wake up from intact. We still have a chance to save ourselves.
I don't think I will be able to get myself to watch this movie when it is out since I know how scary civil wars can be first hand from a personal experience!!! I hope the events in this movie never ever materialize into reality and I will leave it at that!!!
I think it was a good decision to keep certain things vague, such as how the war started and each side’s political beliefs. Because 1) It avoids anyone saying it’s politically bias, and 2) It keeps the focus on the real story-the tragedy and wanton destruction & violence that would happen if our country descended into chaos and total war.
the fact the director has said we need journalist, when 94% of them repeat the same words, means they are not journalists. He has told us what side he is on already
Civil wars do not happen between peoples share common ground, but just aren’t communicating or compromising. They occur because people have fundamentally incompatible views of how they should live together. This film is timely as hell. We have been in a cold civil war for a generation and it is rapidly warming.
That in lies the question I always pose and get poor responses. I truly am asking, but using your words what exactly are the fundamentally incompatible views of how we should live together that we face? Abortion? Gay Marriage? Taxes? What is such a fundamental view today that will drive us to attacking our neighbors, fellow citizens? I don't see it. What I do see is civil war now as I type. Small but consequential differences for specific citizens that can have them treated very differently from state to state. Abortion is now criminal in AZ, but perfectly legal in CA. Gay couples being treated as second class in some states. That WAR worthy? No.
@@Gman671 Our government is increasingly totalitarian, with an unelected bureaucracy decreeing most law; as well as spying on, censoring, cancelling and waging lawfare against the political opposition. The politically connected have become very wealthy by running the government into debt, while the rest of the People languish in stagnation turned stagflation. The Millennials and Gen Z will be the first American generations worse off than their parents. The urban ruling class does little to disguise its contempt for "flyover country;" labeling its inhabitants, their middle class mores and their faith anywhere from deplorable to domestic terrorism. (Posting these realities defines me a domestic terrorist in multiple DHS and FBI publications.) Only a small minority of the People (mostly the ruling class) believe their government works for them or even cares what they think. The American colonies had far lesser grievances with the British Crown when they turned to armed rebellion - about a third of the population revolting, a third remaining loyal and the rest struggling to stay out of the way. The reason I think the film Civil War will resonate is our people are very similarly divided.
No but once the USA slips into fascism it would be. The indicators are that this may happen, hence the warning this film is giving. The divisions in this country are largely being amplified by the five branches of government: Executive, Legislative, Judicial, Deep State, Corporate (includes news media, social media, big Pharma, Defense contractors, etc.) These divisions are kept in the spotlight by design. Left to a more autonomous form of self-government, the vast majority of people would live, work, and enjoy life together in community just fine. But the 5 branches of government don't want that because it reduces their power.
Saying that this won't happen as long as we can find "Common Ground" does not work. Look at Congress and the House. We have one party that wants what they want without compromising. There is almost no bipartisan agreement in order to move our country forward and benefit most of us. Its like allowing a child to bully and run your home. We need to elect people who actually want to vote by listening to their people and not according to an agenda set up by one man trying to hold on to power for the wrong reasons.
In one party there’s only a select few that have the peoples interest at heart, all the others have their own interest in mind and a bumbling puppet to lead the way.
Interesting, much of the polarization that takes place in our society is because of the absence of professional journalism. These days journalists just pick a side they want to help.
I wouldn’t say they “just pick a side”; there are fundamental incentive structures in place and consumers have a role to play as well when we refuse to pay for journalism. That makes journalism less independent, more reliant on and beholden to advertisement, and more likely to cater to market niches (e.g. political echo chambers). Their very paychecks depend on getting engagement - outrage, confirmation bias, division - rather than telling us what we need to hear. The number of paid newspapers has tanked by about -2/3 since the 1980s.
@@acslater017 Nah, you can just say they "pick a side". NPR recently came out and admitted they don't hire Republicans. The choice of words and lack of differing perspectives in newspapers is the reason people stopped reading them, and thus the reason for so many papers going out of business. Why would you continue reading articles from people who almost exclusively write things favorable of 1 party and disfavorable of another party? Echo chambers serve no purpose. Then you factor in today's drivel and the articles are not even worded correctly. At least the liberals in the '80s and '90s could write.
It can be prevented if people learn from the past. Every single person in the US has the tools at their fingertips to learn why we cant go down that road again.l, but we'd rather pay attention to videos of people living better lives than our own.
If we have another civil war, the US is no longer the greatest nation in the world with the strongest economy or the leader of the free world. We become the weak & powerless & the “breaking news” for every other country in the world. This is what many want & it’s been happening for some time. We are the leader of the free world because of our united belief that we are ALL equal & have unalienable rights of life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness. This is why most countries look up to or depend on the US. The countries that don’t are the most divided & run by dictators who have few if any, allies or power. Is that what you want?
Do you want to see another civil war? Many nations facing repeated civil conflicts admire the US for our strong unity in democracy. The ones that don’t are typically run by dictators. As the leader of the free world & the greatest country in the world, if we were to plunge into another civil war, we would lose all that. Instead, we would be viewed as weak & powerless, making headlines worldwide for all the wrong reasons.
Unfortunately nobody will take this civil war show seriously since it has Texas and California teaming up. Those two states would never dare to side together
Please notice you all aren't saying that a Civil War cannot happen, just that California and Texas wouldn't be allies. When two states of the Union consider each other as enemy countries, how far away a Civil War is?
@ThatGuy-bh9qh These people are so ignorant of history - they don't understand that the American Civil War was exceptional and not at all representative of civil wars before or since. In the 1860s the U.S. essentially split up into two nations with defined geographic boundaries between the combatants and then they had a war of two sides against one another. Only on the margins in places like Kansas would one say that elements of a typical civil war unfolded. A 2020s American Civil War would look much more like the Balkans than anything we've experienced in the past. Dirty, bloody, and people will use the breakdown in civil order to settle personal scores. There are no clear geographic lines of demarcation between the "sides" ("sides" is a stupid way to look at it in any event since there is no guarantee that you have only two factions in conflict). And when this sort of thing kicks off, who mans the water plants and the sanitary sewer facilities? Who makes and distributes the pharmaceuticals that a large percentage of the populations relies upon to live? Where do a large percentage of the U.S. population look to for the constant replenishment of a food supply? Where do the most important Americans get their cross-gender hormone therapies? Lots of people die, not because they've been killed in combat but because they starve or have no potable water or are in the wrong place at the wrong time. One suspects that a disproportionate chunk of the people making comments to this video in the vein of "Trump and his supporters are the problem they should heed these warnings now or we'll have a civil war" would be among the people whose food supply would run out in two weeks but they wouldn't be hungry anyway because they'd have an advanced case of water-borne gastric illness which is dehydrating them in short order. Be careful what you wish for . . .
California and Texas are the states with the highest amount of military presence. No matter which side of the political fence you're on, if there was a threat greater than our basic divisive social politics (which is by design) then I could see them teaming up. If they did, they'd be a formidable force. Especially if that involved militia, with Texas being among the top states with registered gun owners. It's an interesting concept. I'll definitely check it out to see how they spin it.

As soon as we see opponents as "others" and not as humans, we're done. The most dangerous, most destabilizing thought pattern we can have is: "they want to destroy us, so I have to do everything possible to stop them." "They." The lie that we're a "DEMOCRACY" is a culprit as well. Democracy and the "majority rules" concept versus a "Constitutional, federal REPUPLIC" which is what we're SUPPOSED to be is a big difference. In democracy we think we have to be the political majority to have our rights. That puts us in direct conflict with our fellow Americans, as we vie for "the illusion of control" of government. So we can "get OUR way, ensure OUR rights, and apparently use government to COMPEL the other side to live accordingly. In contrast, a constitutional Republic GUARANTEES your rights because they come from the CONSTITUTION and NOT from 50.00001% of the people. Once you pit us against each other politically, and people believe this is a democracy and not a Republic, then people will literally, and maybe soon fight each other over resentment. SAY IT WITH ME, THIS IS A CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC, NOT A DEMOCRACY. Once you get back to the intended place, that I don't and can't deprive you of your rights, and no matter how you choose to live your life, that's not going to affect mine, we'll all be better. But it's probably too late now. I graduated in '95, and was always taught the differences between a republic and a democracy, but my 23 year old daughter and her generation think majority rules. PS, I had a 12th grade government teacher predict that democracy ALWAYS ends in chaos, war, and ultimately totalitarianism.

I wrote this above, and I agree. The average American can barely get out of bed in the morning, let alone keep a life and family together, much less organize or fight in an army or as part of a resistance. Most Americans struggle everyday just to keep motivated, and still more would like somebody else to do everything for them. Just how could any of us expect the average person to be motivated enough, let alone deal with the carnage or even the very sight of violence or blood? At the very least this should be comedy. At it's very worst, the whole concept is purely ridiculous.

Somehow I don't think the intellectual architects of the modern conservative movement seriously believed that the layman had the intellectual discipline to handle their intellectually heavy endeavor/persuasion/philosophy.

Most countries that have civil war have more than one civil war.
All countries ever have had many civil wars.

Unless they both wanted to leave the union, and they figured a united offensive gave the best odds of achieving that.
@@joemama8525 but they wouldn’t do that because Texas would leave if a democrat was in charge and California would leave if a republican was in charge

Squatters have the upper hand because of laws gone lost. Need I go further? If a state wants to voluntarily leave the union the "democratic" thing to do would be to let them leave.
The lie that we're a "DEMOCRACY" is a culprit as well.
