I'm a HS teacher. I agree that home ec and wood shop are important. Our HS has both culinary arts, wood shop, and metal shop. A lot of schools have these classes in my state.
Civics needs to be brought back as well. Half the guys I know that are my age that took home ec are so glad they did. I remember way back in my 20’s and three of my guy friends were living together. One of them became the mom to the other two. They still joke about it, and we are nearly 60. Denny and Bobby both say to this day that the reason they know how to cook is because Aiden took Home Ec and made them learn when they became roommates.

Grew up in Walla Walla, WA. My junior high girlfriend (now my wife of 48 years) took home ec and typing. She is an awesome cook and a fast typist. I got kicked out of shop class before we started using hand tools. I can't type but i make things in my workshop. Way better equipped shop than the one in junior high. We greatly emjoy our grandkids. Its a good life!

Having grown up on a farm, Nick Offerman is absolutely right about the importance of agriculture, wood working, and home ec. We can have all of the tech in the world, but without chairs, tables, and food, we would not be very productive. Past government legislature is what got us to these huge industrial complex farms that have ravaged our resources and destroyed small family farms. It's sad, but it's the bed in which they must lie, and it's up to us to make a change at the booth to find the people willing to take on those not so TV worthy debates.

Nick Offerman makes an extremely IMPORTANT POINT: Regular skills we use with our hands (that almost always requires reading/math, etc.) like cooking or building or fixing is no longer being taught in schools and hasn't been for quite some time now. I was shocked to learn my grandson couldn't even read cursive handwriting on the birthday card I gave him. Complained it looked like a foreign language. Explains why the kids coming into adulthood now don't have much of a clue at all. Shame on us all.

My two nephews are in highschool right now, and they're learning things that I was taught in my second year of college. I know it's in fashion to say that kids these days have it easy, or that we're lowering standards, by my experience is the opposite. It seems to me they have to learn more, in a shorter amount of time, and in schools that have fewer resources per student than we had.

Actually, Jimmy, I took Home Ec because I knew I’d be the only guy in the class. I do enjoy cooking as well, but I liked being the only guy in the class. All the other guys thought I was crazy, then they realized that I was a genius. The next year, a lot of guys signed up for Home Ec.
I went to cosmetology school in the very early 00s. There was one guy in my class. Smartest guy ever. I feel it requires a certain kind of confidence, self-awareness, and humility to be that one guy. Genuinely good dude. And he turned out to be incredibly talented. ❤

Football players worked hauling hay and farm jobs in the summer to build healthy muscles and to get strong.

He has real bipartisan values, he demonstrated immediately that he has more knowledge than 99% of the sitting politicians, let alone the rest of the country, he doesn't seem to actually want the job, which makes his far less likely to cave to corruption, but if he had it, he would do it to the best of his ability, because that's the type of person he is.

Actually, Jimmy, I took Home Ec because I knew I’d be the only guy in the class. I do enjoy cooking as well, but I liked being the only guy in the class. All the other guys thought I was crazy, then they realized that I was a genius. The next year, a lot of guys signed up for Home Ec.

I went to cosmetology school in the very early 00s. There was one guy in my class. Smartest guy ever. I feel it requires a certain kind of confidence, self-awareness, and humility to be that one guy. Genuinely good dude. And he turned out to be incredibly talented. ❤
