Does the 15b have a cat in it?. I can hear a GM but I think that is the insley over behind.

    • @SteamCrane

Yes, a CAT, don't know the size. 2 Detroits running, one is the LIMA 35 shovel, I think the other is the yellow ex-railroad Insley crane.

Check his RUclips channel, Scrappy Industries. He's not very good at sitting around doing nothing.

Are you running the Detroit 353? If so do you have a picture if the throttle linkage on the motor? My friend just got one and all the linkage is missing off the governor.

The Detroit is in a Lima 34 shovel nearby. I have recent video of it loading trucks, and more to come.

Any chance you could help, I'm buying a 15b and need to know how to lower the boom. the current owner never lowered the boom and it is proving to be quite a challenge.

This is probably a little late but here goes.... The clutch and brake is controlled by the main lever all the way on the right. Down to the left on the floor there's a round knob you have to lift up to disengage the paw to allow it to go down. So raise the boom slightly by pulling back on right ride lever then you pull that round knob straight up. Then push the right lever forward and it should go down. As these sit all that linkage gets tight especially on that locking paw. You will have to mess with it. To avoid dropping the boom you can disengage the master clutch and use the digging brakes and clutches to control the speed of the machinery. These have an overrun stop so the boom will not drop faster than the machinery is spinning (ie throttle her down) Be careful!!!

Ya, I have torn rotator cuffs in both shoulders to remind my days of running my dragline driving steel seawall with a drop hammer and leads.
